I feel everyone on this page, child support is very criminal against fathers legalizing prostitution, kidnapping blackmailing, extortion and also institute slavery. As victims of this unjust system our kids are nothing but ransom to these cock thirsty females. We have no other choice but keep our oaths to our kids and that's to fight to the death. If we allow this to go on, yours sons and grandsons will suffer from this same fate. I say **** the laws because they will not change for us. We the people must make history for ourselves and the future generations. I hope every person on this page understand this is war over our children.

My fiancé and I have been together for 3 years. A year into our relationship he found out he had a daughter. His daughter was almost a year old when he found out about her. The mother had no intentions on telling him about his child so her sister told him. He immediately starting taking care of his daughter and even giving the mother money every month. The coast guard automatically makes them pay money to the mother of a child if they aren't married or aren't living together. Last year he lost his dad from cancer and she stopped letting him see his daughter and filed for child support. She doesn't even deserve a penny she had no intentions on telling him about his daughter but the court doesn't even take this into consideration. Now my fiancé is I'm debt we can't have the wedding we both want, let alone when we want to and we don't even qualify to purchase a home because of child support. I love my fiancé and I have accepted the fact that he has a child and we both will make sure she has whatever she needs. But the mom most definitely does not deserve child support. Many of these women don't want anything out of life and use these kids for leverage. Get your life in order ladies and stop relying on men to take care of you and realize you're causing hell in these men lives!

The current Child Support Laws are a public crises. Men who through "no fault of their own" lose their jobs, and because of the current economic crises to the likes that have not been seen since the Great Depression are being incarcerated for "not diligently" finding work! First of all what person WANTS to be unemployed? 99% of people WANT a job for MANY reasons, like supporting their children, but also so they can live like a human too! So that argument that purposeful unemployment goes flying out the window for 99% of the Respondents of Child Support. Plus if you incarcerate a Respondent for not being able to pay Child Support you cripple them from being able to find "gainful employment commensurate with their earning capacity" Let me ask you..... What do you think ANY future employer will do regarding hiring you after you just spent 3 months incarcerated in jail, EVEN without a prior record for the last 20 years???. ALSO if you were an Electrician but because of the economic conditions there's no jobs for Electricians, and you take a job at MICKEY Ds to not be incarcerated for not paying your Child Support, you cannot reduce your "obligations" of paying what you used to with a 75k job, and CANNOT lower your payments because YOU did NOT get employment "commensurate with your education, skills, and earning capacity"! I say public crises because if you take hostage someone's life by A. taking their kids away from them B. taking away their career opportunities through incarceration due to no fault of their own. C. Their means to be able to support themselves in any fashion. Then what's left for them to lose??? It's a very dangerous thing to have NOTHING left to lose........ and these Child Support Laws are the DIRECT result of that..... MANY cases of this are readily available if you just search the Internet about it around the country, from self immolation, to homicide, suicide, causing mental distress and disease, Insanity and so on.....

I am also an Army veteran. My wife cheated on me, drained the bank account and left me. I now pay 75% of my children's care at 1500 per month in child support and medical insurance. When they get nice things and go on trips, I pay. I was just ordered to pay my ex 17k from a house that I am struggling to sale because I cant afford to do the necessary repairs to put it on the market. I pay $700 per month for mortgage on that house, in addition to the house I live in ( in another state ) costing me 1500 per month and my girlfriend is paying 500 per month for the loan she took out to pay my ex the 17k. My ex is engaged to another man, just used the 17k and child support to buy a house for her fiance', his kids and my kids. She is living the dream while I am struggling. I can't even take care of myself without help from my girlfriend although my income indicates that I should be doing great. My ex gets a free ride though life while I struggle. To add insult to injury, every year, she claims my kids on her income tax return. Where is the justice in that? Meanwhile, I am taxed at the highest percentage because of my income, as if I have no dependents or responsibilities. There is no way that it's fair for her to receive that money tax free while I pay the highest percent taxes on it.between her and the IRS, I only receive 50% of my income to live off of! I am angry at this system. It does not work for dads who pay child support!

I Live in Chicago IL, the law of the land is very poor and weak when it comes to father rights and child support for my child, the system is totally unfair to all men that shows they care and love their children and we still have to suffer financially regardless of the situation at hand, I've been though the system and I have been rail roaded by the law, I pay $1,500 a month in child support for 1 kid, and I have my child 3-4 out of a week housed at my home and the system make me feel like it was a waste of time having a lawyer on my case, I'm a unwed father and this is ridiculous how I have to play by all the rule and the mother does, she lives off my child support, support her new boyfriend with no job and my kid suffer and is neglected his clothes are always to small and his shoe this is really sad I wish I could do something about situation lawfully.

Men are not the only ones subjected to the unfairness of child support laws!! It all comes down the to Bradley Amendment which waqs put into law to make people who were not paying any support pay legally for ignoring their obligations. Unfortunately, states have taken and twisted this Amendment into their own definitions of law. Most states like Wisconsin and California only take the parent that is paying income into consideration and not both parents income. Most states also make the parent that is paying, pay more when the other parent is receiving state help such as food stamps and medical. Also most paperwork for lowering and or changing child support orders is confusing and costs money for court fees if that parent cannot get fees waived. Another thing child support also disregards is whether the money is being used for the benefit of the children. Most often parents that pay child support are told its none of their business what the other parent is using the child support on. To me, the parent receiving the child support saying that they use the money on bills such as house payments , electricity etc is using the support as it is meant for. Child support needs to be monitored to be sure it is being used for what it is meant for, which is clothes, school supplies, medicine (prescription copays), toys and other needs.

All I want is fairness. I'm not a bad guy, I just feel I'm getting a bad deal. From the first court date I went to, I just didn't have a chance. I lost a son a few years ago who was only 7 months. I now have a beautiful little girl who I would die and do anything for. I had to FIGHT just to be able to spend time with my daughter which was absurd. When I lost my job, somehow the arrearage jumped up to around $9,500. Even though I was searching for a job, I was still doing what I could to pay on my support. I AM NOT a deadbeat! But I can't just sit back and barely survive on them garnishing me $200 a wk, plus $10 processing fee, for one child....it just doesn't seem fair when I know people don't pay that with 2 or 3 kids. Plus, I only get her on Weds and every other wknd. I don't even get my Summer time with her. I know you can't really do anything, I just want someone to hear my story and actually help me, not pass me on like just another case. If you can recommend even a pro-bono lawyer or ANYTHING/ANYONE to help me. Otherwise, I'll continue to be another stat or dad thrown in with the other ones who don't care about their kids. I will fight for what's right and fair until I can get someone that understands. For fathers who WANT to be involved in their children's lives, but may not be married anymore, setting a fair amount for support should be crucial. I'm paying $210 a wk, on top of food, travel, entertainment, etc....does that seem fair or just? There is a loophole somewhere in the system for those who are good men/fathers. thanks

I am a mother and i am still with the father of our 6 children. We fell on hard times and I had to get on public assistance to stay off the ground. One of their requirements is child support. For a few years I told them I dont know who their fathers were. It worked for several years but then the threats came and I gave in and gave them his name. BIGGEST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE!!!!!!! They are going to take everything from him. He wont be able to survive. He is our main support but we dont even see the money from him. The city takes it.Im ready to just give him custody so stop on going payments and I pay him. This system is so messed up and unfair. Obama and congress really needs to look into this unfairness of child support and rewrite laws that will actually help the payee. Its an injustice to fathers.

The mother of my child never worked for more than 3 months since the day I met her, lives in the projects, and does drugs and alcohol. I tried to get custody but was denied although I am better fit to take care of my son. She claims him on her income tax return every year because of a tax loophole. I get my son every weekend as well as every summer and while I have him I still pay money to his mother. I could go on and on about how unfair my situation is but unfortunately..... I believe it's futile.

I've never had "an issue" paying child support, however, I take issue with the county enforcement agencies who only act in the best interest of the individual receiving the support, with how flawed the system is in fairly computing the amount of child support mandated to be paid and the methods in which the monies are collected, off-set, etc.

I have lived in my car and been homeless because I pay so much in child suport. I make 1500 per month @ 10.00 per hour. My child support is 800.00 per month. The state of Maine takes 60 percent for monthly and back child support Totaling 920.00. I have roughly 600 dollars a month for food, Rent, Utilities, Insurance, and gas. I have gone back to court numerous times and cant get it lowered, because the ex and lawyer protested I was impeding my income. Which is completely bogus. This economy is so bad! I am fortunate enough to be making what I am making in Alabama. I dont mind paying and supporting my kids, but Its not fair I cant sustain my life. How can I be a good dad living in my car.
