Child Support Laws are egregiously biased in the favor of mothers. They are designed based on the presupposition that mothers are well-intentioned providers and protectors and fathers are irresponsible degenerates who would abandon their children if it weren?t for the law. These ideas are offensive on their faces. Outside of cases where the mother is extremely neglectful or abusive to the children, mothers are always awarded custody. On behalf of the millions of caring fathers in this country, I beg for lawmakers to reconsider how child support and custody rules are designed. In my case I was dating a women for only a few months as a young man when she intentionally became pregnant. While I was devastated over being forced into a lifelong relationship with someone I hardly knew, I was excited about being a father and embraced it. I left my job to be full-time caregiver for my daughter and did this from the time she was four months old until she was almost three when she went to day care and I returned to work. Reluctantly, I married my daughter?s mother in order to make a family. This didn?t work and we were divorced several years later. Over the years, I went back to school, earned a Ph.D. and advanced in my career. Now I?m earning more than six times what I was earning when we were married. My ex-wife on, the other hand, hasn?t advanced in her career at all. My child is now a college student. I pay for her health insurance, bought her a car, pay for car insurance, additional expenses such as glasses (all in addition to child support), and am the only parent to contribute to her college expenses ? all above and beyond child support. Despite all of this, every time I make a milestone in my career, my ex-wife wants a piece of my success, and if I don?t give it to her, she manipulates my daughter and tries to damage my relationship with her. Earlier in my life I voluntarily increased the amount I gave several times, but I?m not inclined to anymore so she takes me to court where I am always treated with extreme disrespect by judges, without any consideration for the things I mention in this statement. The laws need to be revised to protect caring fathers and bring better balance to the interests of both mother and father. 1. Custodial mothers should not be allowed to relocate and take the child geographically away from fathers. 2. Laws should require courts to consider individual familial circumstances in their child support rulings. Incidentally, many of the judges who make such critical decision that affect families have not even gone to law school, and their lack of skill is partly why many simply rule with rigid adherence to the unfair laws. 3. Custodial mothers should be required to demonstrate to fathers how they have used the money they have received for child support, and courts should be allowed to take this information into consideration when ruling on child support and custodial matters. At present, mothers who receive child suppor

I personally don't think the government cares about men and there problems because child support is a 50million dollar organization and long as money is involved they don't care. Child support is very unconstitutional and our world was founded on Godly principles but the politicians don't care and that's why the world we live in is going straight downhill and that's sad. This world and laws will never change so this petition is worthless because even if they are looking at our cries it won't make a difference.

I agree. I had a written agreement with my kids mother for $400 a month for my two kids; plus everything else that i do on the side which gets up to about $700 a month. I get engaged to another woman and she presses Child Support on me because she is scorn and using it as a punishment mechanism. So now even after one of my kids came off after turning 18, they still got me paying 720 a month now.(PAYROLL DEDUCTION) Thanks Georgia. This CS System is just another form of slavery and scorn women are falling for it and destroying the father and kids relationship, like mine has done me

All I have to say is what every good parent who's in their child(s) lives is that it is very unjust and corrupted. It's been over a year since I got laid off from a good paying position and filed for CS reduction, and I am still paying the same amount with no changes. Yet, I am on my third lawyer with no results. They are in it to get paid and do not care to help, so it's pointless hiring attorneys'. It's very frustrating that you are tyring to make ends meet to provide for yourself and your child(ren), while the courts give them the power of control even when it's 50/50 and to utitilize the CS as they please and nothing for the child(ren). Thus, I am in the brink to just putting my hands up and say f uck this s hit! Not worth paying thousands of dollars to attorneys' with no results and to salvage my insanity with all this corruption. If I get behind and arrested oh well, at least I can say is that I am in my child's life and tried! Eventually, when the system is fixed then there might be a good change and better relationships with your child(ren), but it won't happen in my life time.

I think there should be a Roe vs. Wade for men! If a woman can "opt out" of parenthood AFTER conception, a man should have the same right!!

I and my children mother have joint custody week on and week off. My kid?s mother is manipulating the system by working 20hr per week with a low income job to receive benefits like, section8, and food stamps. Even though I take care of the kids we have joint custody 6moths a piece, My Kids mother took me for child support because she want money to get things for herself while keeping all her money. The court said even though we have joint custody, because I make more I have to give her 500 per month. This will make me lose my house and I have another child at home. The court said that?s the rules and my financial obligations is not a factor. I always took care of our kids even before split 9 years ago, now my kids mother have a felony for assault on a police officer, burglary and robbery charges. She is an unfit mother that?s using the kids and the system to get by in life. It?s not fair for us Dads that work hard to take care of our families, to be cut down by the system because they favor mothers. Its wrong for any man to have to have to take care of their kids mother. She is manipulating the system, she had all the benefits the government can office, she has no bills and had income and, now the court say because I make more I have to give her 500 or my hard earn money. She walked out smiling and laughing, while I try to think about how I am going to keep my home. I love my children and always been the one taking care of them, but to the court it don?t matter.

I have been paying child support since my daughter's mother left me 10 years ago. I have very little to live on after payments are made. I work a full time job. I have to sleep on a friends floor. Can't afford car insurance or a vehicle so it is nearly impossible to see my children. I have not committed a crime! Why shall I feel like I am being punished? I always wanted to have a wife and children that I may live my life with. Due to the circumstances, this may never happen.

I am a wife of a man that works extremely hard to be able to keep up with bills and I am not complaining that we are in debt, but he has his children 2 days a week and every other weekend, he not only pays 950.00 a month but our health ins premiums went up and he pays for their health insurance and half of all other expenses. His exwife won't pay us back for half of uncovered medical bills and spends the child support on other things than taking care of the children. This is unjust for the fathers who take care of their children. The child support should be an important topic in this country. Fathers AND mothers should be equally taking care of their children and this is not happening. Non custodial parents have to pay for everything while the custodial parents don't have to do a thing but collect a check. There needs to be reform in this country. When the children see a parent stressed out and working long hours just to watch someone throw away their money is a sad situation. Both parents need to care for their children equally!

I get less time with my children. I pay four times the amount of child support. I'm taxed at a single rate, which is 28 % of my check. Child support and taxes combine leaves me with 40% of my check to provide a home for me and my children. All of this was decided by a court Judge that follows a guide that lawmakers have created. This is unfair/ injustice and cruel. I'm not a dead beat dad. I have worked hard all my life, even served my country. I love my children just as much as their mother.

PLEASE DON'T IGNORE! WE THE PEOPLE NEED A CHANGE NOW! The current child support laws are unfair/unjust! They are designed supposedly to provide a life for a child equal to a life as if the parents never split up, but the current law only provides the Custodial parent with a higher quality of life while dropping the Non Custodial parent's severely. Child support is calculated from pretax dollars and before health insurance and retirement plan deductions, this causes a "severe" increase in the percent of loss from ones pay. Often to a point where the payee can no longer solely support themselves. If it is designed to provide the same lifestyle to the child, why does the child have to suffer a Reduced lifestyle when staying with the Father? With a 60+% in pay reduction how can a payee take their kids on vacation? How can they provide extras and entertainment to the child/children? Most importantly how can they provide them with their own bedrooms, when a lot of times they can barely afford to provide one for themselves? Sure there are parents who choose not to see there kids and there should be different rule/laws of support for their situations. A New Law NEEDS to be written! It should calculate the Actual Cost of all of the child needs in each state and insure they are met! Parents had a child together,,,They did not sign a contract to provide a better lifestyle to the one receiving the support. Why should the payee pay for the other parent's house or new car? As this is usually the case, the extra monies almost Never go to the child/children! Utmost the child/children should have all their needs met, and if one parent doesn't have the ability to provide, the other should be responsible for the difference. But never to exceed the calculated cost of the actual needs of said child/children. A Law like this would end a lot of hatred and anger between the parents as it would be much more fair and cause less financial damage to a parent.

Everything shouldn't be about money. However, as a father paying child support money is in the back of our minds at every moment in a day. I work hard and make a good living, I currently work 2 jobs and just got a third. Lazy is not in my character. I have my own expenses to pay for just like everyone else, however, I am forced to pay $864 a month on top of that for my two children from my previous marriage. I struggle week to week to not become overdrafted in my bank account. When I have my kids, I like to be able to make sure they have fun and are well fed. Unfortunately, these things are costly, so i stretch my dollars in order to make these things happen. My ex-wife on the other hand doesn't work, her new husband has a six-figure income and they vacation several times a year. Her child support income in untaxed, free money that clearly helps support her lavish lifestyle. My children are very well taken care of, however, I think that the amount I am paying is extremely excessive. Child support, in my case, places the kids in the uncomfortable situation of having everything at moms, and having the bare minimum at dads. Any parent knows that it does not cost almost $900 a month to maintain a 9yr old and a 7yr old. The way that child support is calculated is unfair and is clearly biased towards women, I am signing my name on this petition in hopes that someone in Washington will see this and take a serious look into the matter. Until then, I'll keep scraping along.
