I pray there is a day that some law makers really changes this to be fair. I've been fighting a divorce for 3 years now, have my kids 70% of the time, but was put on child support because my ex wanted food stamps and lachip for my 3 kids. She didn't want to work so she put me on papers. I find out later that the week she filed, she got a new job working for a hospital full time, she also gets $540 in food stamps, stays with her mother with no bills to pay. But I'm living in a 3 bedroom house, struggling to pay the rent, can't get food stamps because I make too much money before taxes and child support is taken out. I didn't find out about being put on papers until 2 months later, I was never served by CSEA. I got the notice on Friday and by Monday I was getting a phone call from the DA's office saying they were going to start garnishing my wages. Tell me how this is fair? No one can explain to me how this is benefiting my kids! I struggle to put food on the tables, all my bills are past due, I can't get them clothing or take them out to have fun because I have to count every penny to make sure I have a roof over their heads, lights on, and water to take a bath. All the while she gets to live it up off 65% of my hard earned money plus her full 80 hour checks, SNAP card and No Over Head! It's truly a shame that this happens to great fathers on a daily basis. Im all for Child Support don't get me wrong, but if you're doing for the kids then the mother should be as well and should be 50/50. If you're a dead beat father then by all means the State should go after you... But Not The Great Fathers. Let Us Raise Our Kids Fairly On An Equal Playing Field... PLEASE!!!!!! -

You are ruining good fathers who love their children and do everything they can to see them and love them. What did we do before child support? Lets go back to it because this is ruining peoples lives. I have spent years in homeless shelters barely making minimum wages and having child support take 65 percent of my check because I am in arrears because I could not get a construction job to save my life during the recession. And now that I can finally get one that pays minimum wage...my state takes it from me making my chances of getting out of poverty slim and none. Thanks! MY X and I have been together for 11yrs.,we bought a house together and have income property together which ,unfortunately I put in her name because of outstanding debt due to divorce from my first wife whom I had left a home and van fully paid for thinking to leave these to support my family, I was trying to do the right thing or so I thought. When child support contacted me I told them about this, they told me that the home and auto was considered a "gift" and I wold be requested to pay child support for my children. They lived in that home for 13yrs. she even got re-married and she and her new husband lived in my home till she lost it after taking out a 40,000 dollar mortgage on the home which she never paid and lost the home, anyway I never really recovered finacially from that. Back to the present i I'm basically in the same boat again, she changed the locks on the doors, put my stuff out and went to child support who after the hearing began garnishment of my paycheck and my pension without even looking at my financial information. I have a hearing comeing up but they have already deducted from two pay periods, she makes more than me,and now when I go see the kids they almost look at me like I'm some stranger, now I am close to poverty level , I can't even use my children to file my income tax she files them every year and I am left with no return having to pay taxes every year...REPORT COMMENTS

I have my son 50% of the time and support him completely while he's with me. But for some reason I have to support him when he's with his mom too.. Support collection unit came to my son's job and STOLE his truck. No warning or anything. His arrears was only $2500 and he was paying an extra $30 toward it every week along with the regular payment. They STILL took the truck. He has custody of his other 2 children so now HOW is he supposed to support them if he can't get to work? This is ridiculous. I am a women to a man who pays his support faithfully. Unfortunately he is 15 hours away from his children due to military reasons and the ex does not want to coorperate in meeting halfway. Financially we can't afford to consistently pay her about $1000 a month and pay for plane tickets. The sad part is he prefers not to be a deadbeat and stay employed and seeking ways to be promoted, but she sees a promotion that he worked hard for and think that she should get one too. Its a broken system and pushes a father away. I would like to see where the money goes, but she's not required to provide such document. Fix this law now!!REPORT COMMENTS
