Im currently paying child support for my daughters, their taking 60% of what Im making. The bad thing is my kids got taking away from their mother and now is in CPS custody, and the money is still going to her. I know its my right to help support my girls but I never have money to support me and my live in family at home. The system is way fuked up.REPORT COMMENTS

my fiance is paying child support. It comes right out of his check for both kids, and they are trying to take his license because of the back pay. Mind you, they take a little more to go to the back pay. He was out of work at one time but has been working for a yr now and they have been taking it out of his check for a year now. The laws are not fair I don't think. Why would they take his license if they have all his income documented and they take the money that they say he needs to pay? He is paying, not to mention that he buys his kids nice things with the little bit of money he has left over(and i usually will ad to it to help him). What do they expect him to do? He is actively looking for another job with more money or a part time.REPORT COMMENTS

My husband has a 20 year-old son and a 19 year-old daughter. Both attend college, but both who are allergic to work. Because my husband lived in Mississippi when he divorced, he is forced to pay "child support" to two adults who have no accountability. His ex has a rich dad who pays retainer fee's to keep her attorney continuously harassing us with court summons. Because he has a teacher's salary and I have multiple sclerosis, we are barely surviving. She promised to leave us alone forever if we gave her $15,000 to cover the all the "over and above" charges that they need for college. First, all of that money came from my IRA. I no longer have an IRA now. Second, she lied. She still wants more money and is still threatening to take us back to court. My husband has always paid the kid's child support without fail. I can't work anymore and we have no savings. We live in fear. Worse, his daughter is spoiled and tells her dad she "hates" him, but is quick to text if her "support" isn't in her bank account right on the 1st. Both my husband and I were on our own at 18. We both put ourselves through college with help from no one. What is wrong with this system and with this new "entitled" generation? It needed to be changed yesterday!REPORT COMMENTS

As a parent who did receive child support for the first 15yrs of my child's life, I can see the usefulness of being able to receive a fair amount to help with the rearing of a child. (Being that the parent receiving it, uses the funds for all that is required.) However, there are parents who do use the funds as a means of primary income. After sending my child to my ex to finish her high school career, my ex decided to see if he could get away with such a role himself. I have been subjected to numerous frivolous lawsuits (everything from lying to a judge about a child support order, thus, filing another one in his state-- in an attempt to collect twice), to trying to have me reimburse 15yrs of child support back to him, as she was now in his care.) This man has worked under the table, claimed unemployment, yet inadvertently blurts out to a judge (during his lawsuit) that he needs to wrap up the hearing because his boss was telling him that his "lunch hour" was almost up at his under-the-table job. While I have been trying to get by on what I have, this man takes month-long vacations to exotic locales in Asia, that my daughter does not accompany him to, etc.) On top of this, I have not been able to have any kind of contact with my child in over a year, because of parental alienation, etc. As I had been told by my child's principal, she has not even been living with her father- but with friends, for the past two years. The state won't investigate- because it's an interstate case, and I don't have the finances to hire an attorney to pursue this. As my child is about to turn 18, everyone just tells me how screwed I am, because since my child will be an adult, I cannot enforce anything. It makes zero sense. I'm paying for an entity that wants nothing to do with her family here, is taking advantage of her living situation there, and is loving every moment of it. Something has to be done. Food stamps are put onto state cards, where purchases can be kept track of. Why can't child support?REPORT COMMENTS

Unfair system, does not take into consideration factors that affect the financial hardships of the non-custodial parent. It's a system that encourages some custodial parents to spend those dollars on items not related to the care of the child.REPORT COMMENTS

Child Support has morphed into a form of WELFARE at an expense of Financial Slavery to American Men! Balance and fairness should be the rule as it pertains to child visitation and medical/educational expenses for said children...NOT CHILD SUPPORT! There is no accountability in the child support system for mothers. Fathers are repeatedly villanized and held to legal and ethical standards which are simply irreprehensible. Working professional men, and your 'Average Joe', are financially decimated by mothers who dedicate their time searching the internet and social networking sites for laws relating to this issue. These same mothers? do so with the intent of dragging dad in and out of court on erroneous charges, exacerbated financial obligations, and malicious efforts to damage the relationship of said children with the father. All the aforementioned is done so without penalty to the mother! ABOLISH Child Support!REPORT COMMENTS

Child support is ridiculous and is not benefiting the children. It is being used to help these mothers that are having children out of wedlock with several men to live a lifestyle they cannot afford at the expense of the men that truly made a mistake and have to pay for the rest of their life while these vicious women get what they want. It is not fair to get child support, backpay for 14 years because you never wanted to have the dad in the childs life and then continue to treat the father like crap by not letting him see the child. How fair is that????REPORT COMMENTS

I am in a situation where I left my daughters mother because of her drug use. I work full time, go to school full time and am doing what I can to better my life. Child support laws should take into consideration, more than income. I can barely afford to pay my own bills now, put food on the table and can nonlinear get afford to pay for my education. Meanwhile my ex gambles, drinks, and buys expensive items for herself. I attempted to get half custody of my child, and was told no. I am a model citizen. I pay the court ordered support and am left suffering. Laws are biased on women playing the victim. As a hard working, non deadbeat father; I have to ask: what about my rights? What about my input. All men should not be treated the same. Many of us have chosen the right path. So my education takes a back seat so my ex can live the high life. Reverse discrimination is what these laws amount toREPORT COMMENTS
