Child Support laws are in need of change. They are very unfair and outdated. The CSSD are out of control and do as they please which in most cases is illegal in every way.

These percentages are ridiculous. Why chose to give the mother more money to children in school throughout the day. If she cannot raise them with her own income then how about giving the father a chance to be a father. Is there anything the government gets right? Eliminate these 1970's era percentages.

If the local governments want to take all of it from our home pay, why not make it tax deductible. If all income levels have to pay, then all should have that as a tax break ... Or stop robbing us!!!

I'm a father of four and I have three that live with me one is my step son who I've cared for since he was 6 months old and I have a daughter that I don't get to see but I pay child support while her mother sits around all day spending money that I dont even have to give but is taken away to support her, I no for a fact that she doesn't care about my child she just wants to sit and get paid and I as a father i don't even see my daughter at that, so this system of justice is rediculious and is not fair to men who are pay information for there chidden.

i'm signing this petition because i'm also in the same spot. Pay child support, but still I am not allowed to see my children. I don't make enough money to live on my own. and now i'm being taken back to court for more child support. Well i looked for a public attorney. They said i make to much money. I make about $20,000 a year. I pay child support, car insurance, cell phone (work related) , medical, school fees, back child support and much more. Yet i'm not qualified for a public attorney, can't see my children and yet shes chasing for more money.

My husband is a great dad and has never missed a child support payment to his ex wife. Now that we are married and have a child of our own, my husband went to court to try to get his support lowered because I am out of work and he now makes a lower wage. Instead of reducing his child support, the court increased it! All of this after we put his daughter on OUR health insurance plan and his ex wife sits at home on disability (who by the way is also remarried to a man who makes plenty of money). She doesn't work, and definitely isn't struggling financially the way we are, but still receives a huge chunk of my husband's paycheck. It doesn't make sense to me that the court requires him to pay so much to his first child that he can't even afford to support his new child. More importantly, why is the man always responsible when the mothers stay home and collect a check? Unfair.

my case is in the state of tennessee and i pay child support based on my 2001 income which has dropped by two thirds but to no avail. in addition my arrears are charged interest at 12% which is an absurd rate given what the prime rate is today.i have paid almost 150K in support and still have 50K left then 40k in arrears including interest.that is 240k. it costs 200k to raise a child to 18 in public schools according to studies i have read. where is her contribution.all this when i make 2500 per month and pay 500 to another child. i have a bachelors degree and am 49 years old and have two jobs and drive a twenty year old car. i will never have anything for ten more years. no wonder our economy cant recover between overwhelming child support, ridiculous background check criteria, govt policies, how can our productive citizens ever get a foothold?if i got a w2 job they would take so much out i couldnt pay my bills to get to work the second month.

"I'm a firefighter in las vegas I've never missed a child support payment, my ex and I went to court last year and aggreed on set amount, a year later she gets on government assist, (when she has 2 jobs already) and the child support agency moderfies my payment to get more. which the law says 3 years. My ex also hasn't let me see my daughter, ive only seen her twice this year. Now she is extra money that I get in overtime. I've followed the laws and paid the money on time, now she's getting more, I have other kids and just would like to have money to take all of them out and do family activities but i cant because my ex is getting my extra money. Something needs to be done.

I realize that this is a topic that is aimed at women who don't work but, in my case its the other way around. My husband is only responsible for 19% of our children and I am responsible for 81% because I choose to work and he has put his business in his new wife's name and shows that he has minimal earnings. They have been on SEVERAL vacations this year and he will be paying back pay for our son's until they are 33 years old. How is that fair? What would happen if I were as irresponsible as he is? And for the record I have Never collected food stamps or got any help with my bills or day care? So I think it should be a fair system not focused on one gender or the other, just fair.

Women are getting housing food stamps electric bill help, medicare and still getting enormous amounts in child support. Alot of which use child support as there main source of income. If women won't get a job and meet fathers halfway then custody should be given to the more stable parent. Instead of just awarding women money. every case should have a custody hearing to see who child will live with.

Wow its the same story over and over. wake up congress They should cap the cost to raise a child. Get rid of the flawed "evening the playing field" Get rid of the " They get to maintain the same style of living they are used to" Many divorces happen because of lack of money. nowadays all a house wife has to do if her family is having financial difficulties. is divorce the man that has been taking care of her. She will be guaranteed a free ride till the kids turn 18 and have a nice alimony income coming in. My boys never will say I do because they see that if they do everything can be taken away from them. I can't see the logic in lets put a hard working tax paying man in jail and take his drivers licence for falling behind on a court made up number by imputing income child support and alimony. While we the state give will give food stamps and hand outs to a woman that is a drag on the system.

The fact that the laws allow women to become idle sit at home and collect not only child support but tax payer benefits is an outrage. This is only encouraging women to live of the system and not seek employment, but in order to continue to receive those benefits to have more children which we the tax payer essentially pay for including the mother.

I have been fighting with child support for over 3 years with my ex wife sitting at home collecting state assistance and refusing to get a real job. I have to pay max guidlines for child support and take care of my current family wife and two kids. The laws are so unfair that i barley can afford to pay for formula for my 10 month old daughter.

My child support pays for my ex's boyfriends 2012 Mustang. Neither of them work. They just vacationed in Hawaii without our daughter. Just because I work my butt off and make great money doesn't mean her and her boyfriend can call themselves retired in their 20s. If the government can go over my records and monitor me for child support then they should be monitoring her mother to make sure the money is being used to support my daughter. There also needs to be caps one single healthy child should not cost $3,000 a month in child support.

I agree fully!!!!!!!!!!! All women should have to work, my wife and I are not together and she had another child with another man. Who has to pay child support fot that baby, me? That's perposterious!!!!! Take government and state assistance away from them and maybe they will think twice before they open their legs, or leave the childs real father.

my husband has to pay child support to his ex and he has never even seen his son. He is 3 years old and doesn't even know his dad, he knows his moms new boyfriend as the father. And even though he paid child support he still cant see him. The mother refuses to speak to my husband has her family and boyfiend speak for her and all they say is F*ck off your not the dad and if we see you we will beat you ass. so we go to the courthouse to file paperwork and the woman doing our paper work is friends with her family and it turns out her mother worked at the courthouse and everyone knows her. Not only were the people at the courthouse rude to us they gave us the ring around. Mean while we have a daughter together who doesnt get to see her brother and he doesnt know she exists because the ex is stuck on herself and her new boyfriend who just got out of the hospital for popping pills and going into a coma. what kind of justice is this when you cant get help you get screwed. he pays child support and cant see his son. Great job America child support is a joke.

how about incarceration? I was incarcerated part time...i was an intermittent. i had to show up at Riker's Island 3 days a week for 4 months...i got that deal do to the fact that i had a part time job and another child at home. I was never arrested and had never seen the inside of a cell b4 that. The judge found me willful because i was not paying the full amount on the order..because i can't afford it. They wouldn't and still won't use my pay stubs for proof of income. I had sold a condo i had inherited back in 2006 and they keep basing my income on that sale. if i try to do a modification it's always dismissed! the money i received for the condo has been long gone because i owed most of it and i had to sell it because my ex, the father, had left me in debt with it. I always supported my son and gave him everything, the father did this this to me out of retaliation for me fighting for my son who i lost custody of due to default...i got to the hearing late and i didn't know anything about the court system at that time....it's a long story. But, there are a lot of innocent men and Women in jail over this and over not having any/enough money,or a good enough job (as for my case) and then on top of that while they are incarcerated the arrears just keep piling up! i feel that those who should be incarcerated are those mothers and fathers who have a good income and still for any reason decide to ignore and violate the court order. And for the ones with no jobs, if they violate and don't comply with an order from the court to attend a job placement assistant program like STEP here in N.Y. They are the ones who are the dead beats! It's unfair as well because every time he violtes our visitation order I can't go and violate him in court because he threatens me with child support! His wife, the puppet master behind all this, has her adopted parents paying for his lawyers fees, i get a lawyer here and there because it's way too much so thats an advantage he's got.... Before he had custody, i had custody, not through the courts. He never gave me money for our child and i never asked him for any. I decided to let him stay w/ our child for 1/2 the summer since he hadn't spend hardly any time with him since our break up. then his mentally disturbed girlfriend made him take me to court for custody and then the rest of it occurred.
