I have a 6 year old son that I have not seen in 3 years not by choice but by force his mother decided to move to north Carolina and took him without not even a word. I cannot get in contact with his mother so I would send clothes shoes and other items to her mother for my son. I got a letter to go to court and was ordered to pay $11000 in back child support is this possible when I had no idea where she is and I asked the judge can I please have some type of visitation to see him and no one can seem to help me on this matter please I really need help on this issue I really want to just see my son but his other is bitter and will not talk to me. please help me.

Why is it that my daughter has just turned 8 and my ex wife is still not working?? I pay my child support and am caught up on it. My ex has not attempted to find a job and will not do so as long as the government and myself are taking care of her. It's also not teaching my daughter any responsibility watching her mother living off the system. Also, I have come to find out that my ex has found out that if she returns to school then that's her way around of not getting a job. Hmmmm well she has returned to school multiple times and guess who is paying for that to happen????

My boyfriend and I have 4 kids counting his son and we live in a state that rarely offers full time work. So between the two of us we barely make it. Child support is one of our biggest expenses and the arrears are in excusable...We feel so trapped and our other three children go with little to next to nothing because of this - IT HAS TO STOP....PLEASE

This isn't only about fathers. The manner by which child support payments are calculated is asinine. In California, the law literally states that the non-custodial parent is required to pay child support BEFORE ensuring that they have basic necessities for survival! So basically, it's okay if a non-custodial parent ends up homeless and without anything to eat or keep themselves warm as long as they send in that check. That is debt slavery! Child support laws are, by and large, unconstitutional!

My husband has a child in Ohio and he's in the military. Child support is completely unfair! Military members don't make great great pay, and is already hard to live on, let alone add Ina. Huge child support payment in! Bah and bas should not be considered for child support considering bas is supposed to be for the military member only NOT family! And also child support should be calculated off of bring home pay. I have a child as well so I say make the mothers take some responsibility for their children too! If they did there's no way dads would be paying such a. Large amount of support.

Me and my.husband have been married now for 3yrs and we have a yr old son together! We found out he has a daughter when she was 3yrs old and he was put on child support and now has to pay back pay. The state takes half of his check to give to yhe mother of his daughter who does not even use the money.for their child , but for herself! Because every time he gets his daughter she has on clothes smaller then what she wears, my stepdaughter complains that her clothes are too tight and dont.fit! Child spport is being paid to my husbands baby mama who has a cps case open on her since the child was born. I feel no one should be forced.to pay child support because majority of the time the men are the fit parents . And its not fair to my son because the state is taking.so much of my husbands check to.support my stepdaughter which is taking from supporting our son.and our family to a mother who has never.worked since she had a baby, who has been in and out of jail, who has a cps case open for neglect, who is house hopping with my stepdaughter and not even.trying.to.do better in life. I think.its disgusting how the government does our good fathers and then wonder why they are not around. I say no one should be accountable for child support payments or jail time.

Me and my fiancee have been together for two years. He has 2 children he pays child support on equaling over $900 a month. this was payable when he was driving a semi for a living making good money. He then got laid off and took a local construction job paying minimum wage. he filed for a motification to reduce the amount of payment and was refused and told to lower his expenses. while the mother has 4 other kids no job had a husband who does not work and just adopted her sisters 3 kids. yet he was still refused and we were forced to lose our house and move in with my parents. he works 7 days a week 12 hour days and brings home a grand total of 275 a week. he spends 100 a week on gas alone. what can we do?

Shame on the lawmakers and shame on America. The high child support payments bestowed upon me has bankrupt my real estate business. Two years of progressively building my business down the drain. The courts didn't care about me needing operating income in order to grow and prosper. Now, my business is bankrupt and i will probably need to work 2 jobs in order to keep up with child support. Jobs ! with no advancement for my child not careers. It is grossly wrong, unamerican and disgusting. Shame on America !

My husband was married for 3 years to an alcoholic who bankrupted him with shopping and plastic surgeries and then left him saddled with an outrageous amount of child support imputed to him over an unusually high paying but short term seasonal job project. He has been paying her nearly as long as they were married, and she admitted in court she refuses to work full time. So far the court has humored her and punished him. He's almost been suicidal at times because he has yet to contribute to our household and son, every dime he makes goes to her. He would have been homeless without me and his family support. He has lost a lot of self esteem and about three years of his life supporting this person, and will be paying back debits incurred in the meantime for years to come. She files for contempt if he is $100 short.

Child support has continuosly taken the word of the child's mother and are currently taking my entire paycheck! Leaving me with zero revenue to pay for gas to go to work to make moeny. I am a full time student who goes to school five days a week and am working part time five days a week. I have not been able to get clear responses from the child support agency with the little time I have to contact them as to why I have not been able to be paid by my employeer for an entire month

Child support rights are getting out of hand. Men are being scrutinized by the system and the mother is not responsible to provide for her chiildren even if she brings in more revenue. Leaving the man broke and unable to get back onto his feet

I am from Ga and have a out of state case through VA. It is a shame that I see so many stories with the same tune. I am in the same sinking ship. My childs mother is currently getting over on the system but make is seem like it's my fault. I am a veteran of the armed forces in which the state of VA thought I was getting paid big bucks to protect this country's freedoms. That was not the case but they awarded a $777 support order on me anyways (Mind you, the mother is military also). I got out of the military and was on unemployment for a year looking for work. She took over half of my unemployment and I could not get VA to help me lower it or GA, who said they only enforce VA order. Fast forward and accumulate arrears due to not being able to meet the amount of CS, I ended up having to take a job in Afghanistan in order to do what is necessary to meet CS obligations, and now this woman just told me that she is going to go increase it to $1400+ a month because i'm getting paid more. This is after she tried to extort me for $3,500 which she game me a deadline date and a or else. Needless to say, she's headed back, I'm dodging bullets and will probably get killed by the CS order that's about to come my way. I wish congress would even the playing field because it is not the 1950's anymore. Women want equal rights so stop using being a woman when it's convenient . I've been fighting for this country for the last 10 years, I don't think i should have to fight my baby mother and the court system to be financially sound.

I live in Massachussetts where I am getting 65% of my take-home pay taken for child support. The mother of my 2 children works 2 jobs and is taking home more of my paycheck than me.I was recently able to find a job making $12.00/hr. and I do not get 40 hours of work a week.My average is 24 hrs./week and my average take-home pay is between $60.00 to $80.00/week while my ex receives around $150.00/week.I have a family to support with 2 more children and right now my fiance is basically supporting a family of 4 because I am not even taking home enough money to pay for the gas it costs to get to work each week.My bills continue to fall further and further behind and my family will soon be homeless due to these guidelines. This is all while my 13 and 10 year olds that I pay support for come to my house with $600.00 Iphones and Nike shoes and the best clothes money can buy. These guidelines are CRIMINAL and also the reason most parents don't get child support because no father with a family to support wants to work for free.

First please excuse my typos grammar and punctuation. My story is terrible as well. I have two children I don't get to see because the system is failing me an allowing these women (meaning I have two children?s mothers) to manipulate the system. I have paid my support for my child but since I can find a job I am the bad guy. I petitioned in both cases for joint custody for which I was denied for no reason prior to coming into arrears, no violence, no criminal history, abuse, neglect at all. I have adequate space for them but was denied. The eldest child?s mother has never worked and 36 years old I have told the system that she is subjecting my child to drug dealers and all sorts but yet they dismiss me. She decides she wants to leave the state with my son and I went to court to stop it they allowed her to go because my son is 15 and didn't even care about my joint parenting petition or the drug dealer I told them about. The other case the mother had violent tendencies and was cheating so I left her but not my child. She refused me visitation and moved from her place. We went to court the judge said I had to complete 5 visits then come back and apply for more time, I did not know where she moved to so I could not complete them. I went back to court telling them she never showed up the judge called me a lie I was livid but none the less I wound up having to attempt to complete the visits again. After completing the visits the mother said she cannot continue to bring her to me then stopped. My support stopped right after she stopped bringing her the court system took 4 months to hear my case for which they didn?t not allow me to have my case heard over the phone as we live in adjoining states NYC, NJ which they never did. It is wrong to keep my children from me because your emotions are high. I have always had my children as so court ordered which I felt wasn?t enough but they refuse to alter it. I feel that both parents should have joint custody but it won?t happen because child support is big business for the states.

I took care of her son from age 5 to 21 and her first baby father never showed for birthdays or graduation in he never went to child support. We have to 2 together I did everything doctor appointments, class trips, and everything else cook and clean. I caught her cheating so I when in got joint custody. My kids are 9 and 12 and guess who down child support. I go get the kids and there was a brand new 55 inch at the door, but her gas and electric was cut off so where is my child support going again. They need to make them keep the money in a separate account for the kids well being , not for the mother personal gain.

I think the child support laws are very unfair. There are so many women who are working the system...not working...having 4 and 5 kids and drawing support from the fathers who are working or vice versa. I don't think that child support should be based on the income of the parents. i think it should be 50/50! They made these children 50/50 so they should pay for them the same way. It is unfair that one parent pay 80% of the child support while the other pays 20%! That is crazy!!! I see in first hand with my husband who pays 90% of the support for his kids and she pays 10%. She works a job that pays next to nothing because she likes having the summers off and she like to be able to get State benefits for free! She was in the military and was discharged whne she got pregnant with their first child so she could get a higher paying job but refuses to and why would she when she can live off the system and the child support. I am a mother and have a child from a previouis relationship and I get support for him but it was agreed upon between me and his father no court was involved. I work full time and have a good paying job I don't work off the system and I support my son as well. i don't believe an unfair burden should be placed on one parent due to the lack of drive by the other! Serious reform needs to happen to they way child support is calculated...it is totally unfair and unbalanced.

I pay child support and will continue to do so because I want to believe it goes towards my child which I know it doesn't. My ex is a very money hungry woman who knows I will pay so she abuses the system. I think you should pay support yes, but to want to take almost 60% of my income and the mother not have proof that the mother is really supporting the child is ridiculous! I think the same way we have to have a court order to pay they should have a court order to prove the money is supporting the child. Or maybe both incomes from the mother and father pay the support not just one. This is a main reason it doesn't get paid is because we know it's going straight to the ex for there expenses. There has to be a better way for this law to change. But in reality the government doesn't care because the person paying child support is now the welfare check that they no longer have to assist the woman with when they file for child support.
