I make 45,000 per year I pay straight off the top to the ex 11,700 and roughly another 11,250 to Uncle Sam 7,500 to rent at my small duplex I rent. That leaves me with 14,550 dollars to own a vehicle pay insurance get gas and repair it. I spend 50 bucks a week on food 45 bucks a month for a cell phone. Water Gas and Electricity average 300 a month being generous there probably 350 per month. There just went another 5,340 I'm down to 9210 now left get a haircut once a month down to 9,000 I have one real luxury in life. now Internet 45 bucks a month 500 a year down to 8,500 to survive on New pair of shoes or pants hundred bucks a month 7,300 per year here comes the best part 140 bucks a week for medical insurance that I have to have 7280 dollars per year I got twenty bucks left over and I didnt even include presents for my two wonderful children's birthdays Xmas or maybe just a freaking date night for me and someone special in my life. While all along my ex makes 40k per year has her new man living with here making at least 30k per year plus my almost 12k per year and my kids show up to visit me in holey jeans ans stained shirts and I can't do a freaking thing about it because I got no money to even get them a happy meal when they are with me. Yes I caused the divorce but do I have to live like this for 15 more years I don't think it is possible to stay sane and live like this. I'm sick of every new girl in my life leaving me as soon as the find out yeah I got a decent job but I walk to work in order not to use more gas then I have to in mycar while my ex kept the house the vehicles and my entire future.

The system is rigged. There has to be some changes to the law. How is it that it protects women so much, what happen to equality men and women treated the same. For some reason the government always rules for women. I am a woman myself, however it's quite unfair how men have to pay for child support for a child that is not theirs even after providing DNA tests results that proof he is not the father. Why not go back after the mother for lying and making someone belief he is the father and instead of the county going back and charging her they continue to make the alleged father pay for child support. How is that considered ethical? While the mother is so relaxed st home receiving monthly checks and not required to work the alleged father works his behind off to meet that unfair child support and unable to have a place he can actually call home the mother of that child's lives the life and always travels ateadt three times a year. UNFAIR!!!! Wouldn't that be considered FRAUD????

I agree, in my case I'm ordered to pay 65 percent of my pay maximum allowable by law my son is 13 years old now. Best part judge asks me if I gave u taxable income which i have a small amount from military service so they include it in thier "formula" since they can't detach it they include it as income. That's all fine and dandy but they ask my X wife if she has any non taxable her reply is yes she receives support for 2 other kids she has with new X husband. So what does the court say? OK we will not add that as income since it's nontaxable! So my non taxable is included but not hers? Family courts are out of control something needs to be done.

I absolutely agree this support system needs to change .My 2 girls are 10 and 11 .there is no reason why the mother should be laying around the house not even attempting to seach for employment, while I'm paying for my girls 90 percent of the time.. while she collects welfare and constantly threatens me for more money if she's having a bad day. Laws need to change

To Sandy B. from Corpus Christi, TX... just wanted to comment on what you said...... "I am a single mom and my son and I cannot survive on child support alone".... The child support is for your son. Not for you and you son.... Do you work? How much do you think the ex should pay? How much do you to get in CS? are you living beyond your means? I myself pay $1500 per month... She says she needs more... Well then she should get another job... Oh ya, she just bought a new house, a new SUV and takes vacations.... I look at it this way... It's only temporary. And when that day comes, it stops cold turkey.... I have to remind myself that.. Only temporary....

Completely agree! It is amazing how lazy and worthless one parent can be and I have to pay for her to live. The court favors women and in a lot of cases they don't even provide the child with what they need. It takes 2 people to have a child so the cost should be 50/50 for each parent. Why should the mother get to sit around all day doing absolutely nothing while my wife and I are trying to provide for our family and paying for the ex family at the same time.

JOIN FREE: Federal Class Action for U.S. Child Custody Victims - Friends, I just joined CAPRA as one of the lead plaintiffs in an upcoming landmark federal class action lawsuit against all 50 States and the Federal Government, because I qualify as: (1) a biological parent whose child custody was unconstitutionally removed without due process; and, (2) I have been directly impacted by that during the last four years, i.e., within the statute of limitations. This class action is on behalf of *both* types of "family court" -- for wrongful victims of divorce-and-similar-with-kids *and* for wrongful victims of child protection services -- and includes suing on behalf of ANY parent affected by either "family court" type. It's totally free to join, and the federal court relief being demanded includes the full restoral of my child custody rights under law, plus a nice share of the large amount in civil damages expected. Check it out! It just requires entering someone's referral Code to join, so PLEASE use mine - 42085JL619 - in the CAPRA registration form, located on the bottom of the homepage at http://parentalrightsclassaction.com Plus, check out their power-packed Legal Tips page for all parents fighting family court, too -- Wow!! Thanks!!

Perhaps people we might be less cavalier with divorce knowing that the state isn't going to force an ex to dole out a monthly sum. Maybe divorce lawyers would start losing revenue and they'd have to change their business model to something other than "fuel animosity and drag the process out for as long as possible." It is difficult to tell just how much the system directly provides for children in divorced or separated families. There just isn't enough accountability with the way it's currently set up. The court-ordered extraction of money from one parent isn't a blanket solution to meeting a child's needs. I think there should be some sort of system in place that looks after the well-being of kids, just one that isn't so heavily biased against fathers. I think people should be on the hook when it comes to providing for children that they brought into this world. I can't tell you exactly what the solution is, but I think we can do better than the misery-inducing legal machinery we currently have in place.

I am 47 years old and have never earned more than $37,000 in a single year, yet somehow I am currently ordered to pay $2850 per month in child support. I am currently over $100,000 behind. My ex has refused my rights to visit with the kids despite joint custody and court ordered discussion of all major decisions concerning my boys. Last year she took them out of the country without my knowledge and left them with her parents in a dangerous part of the Philippines. I think she is back in this country but that is unconfirmed. I have tried to get the Attorney Generals office to modify the support order, but that has been 16 months and today they said they can't even find the paperwork and I have to start over. I have been turned down by Legal Aid 6 times. Anybody have an idea what I can do?

Today I got my finalize order. Im supposed to pay more than what i can afford just bc of an yearly salary before taxes. Meanwhile the mother is not working and just decide to have another child. Really unfair for me. Im a 10 year veteran, college degree as well just got hired under the dept of justice. Yet now im stuck with an extra bill that i have no clue how to afford. Not only myself and the mother recide in fl, ny state was the one to make the unfair finalize of order. They want us man to support our kids, yet the mother can be a deadbeat. In top of all that, she dont let me see my child, so now i have to go to court to ask the govt to grant me a visitation right, as former veteran and federal employee, this child support unfairness should be equal.

Child support should be weighted. Assuming all things are equal. If you both work 40 hrs a week and have joint custody, pool money and split in half. If one works 50 hrs and one works 25, weigh it to make it fair. Adjust it as if they are both working 50hrs. The parent who is not working equal amount of time should be penalized financially for not working to same hrs. Example father works 40 hrs makes 400 a week, mother works 20 hrs and gets 200 a week. Nobody pays child support. If your self employed you shouldn't be eligible for child support. Too many ways to hide income.

Each parent has a responsibility for financially supporting their children. Child support should be calculated fairly using accurate numbers of what each parent makes, not what one of the parents wishes the other made so she could get more money. We learned thru the process that laws are subjective to how the lawyers and mediators (and even judges) want to interpret it. It is an unfair system, putting a huge strain on the non-custodial parent and their families, just so the bitter ex can get what she wants or what she has been "accustomed to". We had to provide and prove all our finances, but she did not have to prove need, how or why she wanted more. Laws should be changed similar to Sweden where there is a fixed amount per child, no lawyers, no judge, no greed. Fairness for all, which ultimately results in parents focusing on their children where it should be.

Haven't seen my child in 2 years, last time was on her birthday when I sent her home with a brand new bicycle. Because of me providing for her I wasn't able to see her anymore now I'm on child support a year and a half later because me and my fiancé is having another child. Jealousy is ridiculous, and bitter woman taking advantage of a system because they know they can is unbelievable. Now my check get garnished 900 dollars a month and I only make 31k a year in NYC. This has to stop. This is modern day extortion. I can't believe welfare systems call women and tell them to file for child support for the extra money like it's a sweepstakes or something. These laws must change ASAP. Especially if the woman has more than 3 different baby father's. Woman can do whatever but men can do nothing. Not fair when we should be the ones with custody. Since we're the one providing.

I totally agree my ex-wife not once during the marriage helped in supporting the children. I worked two jobs and went to school full time just to make a living for my children; when we were divorced the judge actually stated that she had become accustomed to a life style I provided. I was making less than 30K a year and was ordered to surrender 40% of my income while she received benefits under the welfare system when she should have be required to work and share in the support. The worst of all our children graduated and finished school and was getting ready to be thrown off aide she go and claims I owe her back support and in the state of Illinois the claim of owed support is all the proof needed to order me to pay so after 30 years she hasn?t work I?ve lost my pension 401K and positive credit score?.I guess this is what they call Justice

I think a way to help fathers who are paying for child support and or mothers is to allow the support to be written off or claimed on your taxes. If it is legal or at least in ca it is to claim spousal support as a write off why wouldn't it be fair to claim your child that you are supporting. If not the custodial parent is double dipping they not only get a free check every month from the parent they also get to claim the child on their taxes as well. Totally not fair. I fyou want to fix the system this is a good way to start.

Most women agree with child support, but I say if you were getting money unlawfully taken out of your earnings would you still agree? I am a working mother been on my job for 9 years and my ex husband requested a modification for child support for my two sons. This man is married and owns two homes, I was sent to jail, and FORCED to pay double of what I was paying before the modification court date. When I got sent to jail, I was dehumanized , humiliated, and almost lost my job. These unlawful ACTS are allowing state agencies to profiting big time off of working class People and greedy, bitter, individuals. There are incentives to collect as much child support as possible for state agencies. Its all about the money not the kids. Dumb parents giving their children over to the state and jeopardizing the freedom and right of other parents. This has to stop. Child support is against the constitution and a ploy to take your rights and privileges in order to Steal more money. For example, taking your driver license, placing a felony on your record therefore no voting rights and enabling others to legally discriminate against you, depriving a People to the right to equal opportunity employment and assistance for continuing education.

I live in Oregon and was divorced 15 years ago. My ex-wife kidnapped my 2 daughters and I haven't seen them since. I have reported this to every case worker, police officer, judge, and attorney I can find. I even sent a registered letter to the Attorney General. I am disabled and unable to work, but refuse to go on welfare and have the state support me like my ex-wife seems to take pleasure in. Everyone I talk to tells me to just pay my support and shut up, that the state could do anything they want to. They are breaking their own laws by threatening to incarcerate me while they are accessories to kidnapping and harboring a fugitive! Our child support system professes to be "for the families" but refuse to lift a finger unless it's for their financial gain. It's time to end the corruptness once and for all!

As most every one knows OH child support laws are bad. 15 years after a child becomes 18. Child support arrears should stop. KY law is like this. All states should apply a law to stop arrears after 15 years of becoming of age. I'm disabled and on SS . OH takes $265.00 out of my tiny check. And i must get food stamps. This should be against the law for OH to do this. At this point you should help us with bad state laws.

I am a 37 year old male in Dallas, Tx. I had 2 daughters before i was 20 years of age. Both children are from my ex-wife. When we divorced she was the custodial parent and I agreed to pay child support, as a father should. I fell on very difficult times and ended up having back surgery in 2008 which left me paralyzed from the waste down for about and 6 months and couldn't get back to work for another year after that. During that time i was on worker's comp and only making 66% of my salary, which wasn't much. My entire check except for $76 went to child support and that didn't cover what i actually owed. i am still trying to pay back that money till this day and i don't see any relief in sight. How is that fair? My ex-wife is married and both make a better living than I do by triple my income. I am broke and tired and i never get to see my daughters because most of the time I can't afford the gas. She lives more than 60 miles away and it makes it very tough. I have to deal with my daughters growing up without me, because of the lack of money. Tell me, state of Texas, how is that fair?

I think having children is a 50/50 split both parties should be paying understandable if child isn't school age it is easier for one to stay at home. However women seem to think it is the men's job to pay everything this is not the 50's times have changed. Most households require two incomes just to survive these days. Women should be held just as accountable as men for support of their children monetarily...

I was at one time paying $1200 per month for child support due to my BAH when I was in the military and living in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. I argued that the amount was a bit outrageous and if I were to change duty stations I would have a different BAH amount but that fell on deaf ears. When I did PCS back to Fort Campbell I lost $1400 in BAH which should have reduced my support payments immediately but it didn't. I eventually got it reduced to $988 per month in early 2015. Since then I've retired from the military and my pay has been decreased again even with a job I don't make what I made when I was military. I went to court on August 16th 2016 for a modification and was stunned at how things were handled. My children's mother told the judge that she pays $500 a month for child care expenses. I was in total shock because I know that the woman who watches the kids does it for free. The support was not modified and I left angry but put in for another hearing which I never knew when it was and missed it totally. When I asked for proof of the expenses from my kids mother she sent me a photo via text of receipts that her friend printed off. I then spoke to the support office about her lying in court and their failure to completely investigate and I was told to obtain a lawyer. I later found out that my kids are being watched by their grandmother after school because the woman. I'm totally heated about the lack of investigating that was done for this case. They totally took her word for everything and didn't not once investigate her claims. For the record this occurred in the Montgomery County Court in Clarksville, Tn.
