I agree. They get free medical. Free housing. Free food. And do even use the support money on the child. I pay support, still have to buy clothes because the mother rather get second clothes. Can bearly pay rent, my car need repair, food and bills. I feel like a slave.

In the specific case of the women who do not work while collecting child support it should be set up the same way or in a similar way to collecting unemployment. If there is no proof the petitioner is actively seeking employment then they should be treated the same way the respondent is treated when the required actions, duties and payments are not to the Court's satisfaction. Even if the petitioner is actively enrolled and attending school there is an extra allowable income for living expenses. If the respondent is paying child support for 18 years and the petitioner has decided to live off of child support income alone for that amount of time it seems that it sets a bad example to the children involved. Child support is supposed to be based on what is in the best interest of the child. And it seems that with only the respondent working double overtime to be able to pay whatever the child support number has been determined and be able to have his/her own life while trying to maintain a positive influential role model image for the child it seems that it would send mixed emotions. Unfortunately, the fact that the child is residing with the petitioner who decides he/she is not going to work and live off of the income that is predetermined by the Department of Revenue could potentially lead to negative results. In this day and age your ability to perform your work ethics and morals and values are becoming very rare. I personally have no problem paying child support. If my child was with me I would be paying 4 her two lives so what's the difference... The difference is it's not child support if the petitioner is living off of it as well. I really hope all of these words throughout this whole petition to Congress can actually make a difference. If it is in the best interest of the child in we have to make it about the child. Thank you for taking the time to read this and good luck to us all

I think child support is just a bunch of BS. People bust there*****to make the money they do and the attorney general wants to take a percentage just because you make so much money. What the hell. I'm a mother and I have full custody of my son and I could care less if the father paid a dime. I chose to have my child I chose to have full custody of my child and guess what I choose to take full responsibility for my child. I don't need his money. For all the women out there trying to break theses men because you got nothing better to do and need your hair did or some ********. Go work your*****off as much as the man does and see how it feels to get half or check taken. Yeah they can help every once in a while but it don't take that much damn money to raise that child. Be independent. The government is just making money off of you. Every so much they get 25 dollars. I dont understand this shit. And then the guy can't live or buy anything because the baby momma done ****ed him out of all his money. *****es theses days. I guess I'm one of a kind. Like I said if your a ***** and want to hold the child over the daddy's head but you want that money. Go screw your self. Be in that mans shoes for once. If the daddy wants to sign his rights away then let him. You know where that baby lays his head at night. I don't get women. I really don't.

My child support is based off inaccurate numbers, judge didn't care. She added up everything my exes lawyer said and made my income over double what it is. I am a veteran and set up my schedule to be able to raise my kids, I'm ordered to pay day care cost, we don't need day care, and I'm ordered to pay half of an over priced health care plan. And I'm behind 9000. Of the custody was 50/50 I wouldn't have to pay so much, my constitutional rights were violated because I did not get fair due process in the last hearing.

Child support should only be payable on your first 40 hours of pay. Some states already do this. Some fathers, like myself, work 70+ hours a week to make ends meet, and if we get taken back to court, we pay that much more. It's not fair! We need help!!!

I find it unfair that I'm gonna be paying child support to only support my ex and her boyfriend who doesn't want to work. I want too support my child and know that the money is being used for my child and her needs. I've been told that as long as the child is clothed and feed that's all that matters. This doesn't sound fair at all. I don't care about child support I just want things to be fair and how it should be done. Things need to be done to a way where child support money is used only for the child. I've been a loving father and to hear my ex mother to tell me my ex is unfit to be a mother, all she wants to do is go out with her boyfriend. We need a serious makeover on child support. We need equality.

Typo earlier.--I believe both parents should pay equal share no matter if one makes more than the other. You shouldn't be punished for working harder when the other parent doesn't. You shouldn't be punished for working an second job when you have a full time job that goes towards support. Veterans disability should not be counted as income when having a 40 hour a week job. Custody should automatically be 50/50 unless one is proved unfit. No one has to leave a career because of children so save it. People work and have kids daily and it would be better for the family more if you worked. bills must be paid.

This is absurd. I gave up my career for my husband's and am left with 3 small children and no career. Even when I am able to bring in some income it will never bridge the gap to his high dollar career which I helped my ex-husband achieve by putting him through school and paying all of our living expenses. The percent of income spent on child support is approximately 15percent in my case. This is supposedly also supposed to cover the cost of child care. The children do not have what they did before even remotely - they lost their home, getting to go to private school, and most of their activities. We had to move into my parents home. He gets to keep the vast majority of his income and does not have to pay a dime extra when he is in a much better position to do so. What people on this board are asking for is to decrease children's standard of living even further with unrealistic expectations that lower-income earners in the family can bridge unrealistic gaps to obtain what is needed for the children. Child support is not even covering all of the food expenses for the year. Child support is outrageously low. This is increasingly a concern for children with shorter amounts and duration of alimony payouts than ever before. My children would be homeless based on the child support amount alone if not for my family.

The child support law all together needs to be reviewed and rewritten. 1. I am a mother of 2 and I honestly feel that $200.00 a month cover my children's fathers portion of the bills I pay for our children. However, children under the age of 5 who are in daycare may require more money. As for kids who do not require daycare or any special needs / accommodations, $200.00 a month is sufficient. 2. I have one father who is order to pay $180.00 a month with $20.00 back support. He has barely worked the whole time I have raised our daughter, who is not 14. He owe over $20,000.00 in back support. He does not see our daughter but will randomly send her cards or messages. Child Support is unable to issue him a bench warrant for failure to comply with a court order because they need to hand deliver the summons to him. He is very good at moving states, getting jobs under the table, an dodging the summons. I feel that after a certain point a bench warrant should be able to be issued regardless if it is hand delivered or not. Don't get me wrong, I do not believe a warrant should be issued for parents who are just a little past due and are trying to do their best but for parents that are like this one, we should have something in place. The whole system is broken.

I'm an independent woman that has worked my hole life for my children so I agree woman should work or go to school . Most sit at home and neglect children because of to much time they party and subject children to dangers of bad people. If children aren't doing something they get bored and do things they shouldn't which means trouble. That's what happens to these women to much time is party time.

The peonage on women who have served their husbands/families in long-term marriages under the agreement or religious desires for patriarchal models of husband ad breadwinner and wife as nurturer/domsetci engineer at home is never recognized in posts like this one stating "no one should have a free ride.' That is domestic stereotyping and one reason why the value of a stay at home parent's contribution to the family is ignored in court. It's not a gender issue, it's about family models and that posts like this one and the court try to shove all models of families into this model of 'you both can work, so honey, forget that you brought in all the assets to the marraige, forget you agreed to do your part of the work at home and sacrifice your career on the detrimental reliance you two were in it together' and so on. The alimony guidelines that are supposed to protect women from this retroactive slavery no longer work when our culture is subject to this mindset that the parent at home is less valuable. As a VP in Human Resources, I can tell you once you are out of the work force for more than 3 years, especially with workplace technology/computer systems changing every 6 months, one has a very hard time getting their same level position back, not to mention if you are dumped past age 45 with outdated skills. our country is slowly exterminating Grandmas this way, they have to work as WalMart greeters instead of all the Grandmotherly work of yesteryear like volunteer time, be the go-between for those in need in the community etc. Follow the money, no one sits unless you like poverty and there are way too many mothers living in poverty not bc they ain't working but bc they were left stuck and/or can't work. I can't work in an office bc of health, thank God I have virtual job or my kids and I would living int he slums while their executive level dad who got away with the peonage being promoted here took half am million and hires attunes to get him out of child support arrears - 2 jail convictions later for non-payment and still my children eat from a food pantry while I work full time from home trying to save for shoes. The sick part is everyone doesn't mind since the kids go to fancy daddy and get xbox and anything they want under the sun - it is only a matter a time before my children will be 'bought and sold' in our system on family peonage just like many other children. And we wonder why there are so many adults with 'entitlement issues.' Good luck America, we are primed for Shariah Law and we don't even know it!

My daughter is 17 yrs old lives in a terrible neighborhood in the Bronx, New York, I fought to get custody of her but the courts wouldn't grant that to me so she's been left back in school twice and is only in the 9th grade now cuz she's too old to still be in the 7th grade, her mother only fought me having custody to keep the child support payments, she has no job yet she claims my daughter on her taxes this system is never beneficial to the child nor the father. B cuz the system favors lazy mothers with terrible parenting and no motivation to earn a living therefor becoming a terrible example for her child. But I have to work 11 hr shifts 6. Days a week to make up for the child support payments and yet I still buy clothes etc...... for my daughter along with child support where is the logic? Who creates these stupid laws? And why is child support payments until my daughter is 21, but for a boy it's until he's 18?? Stupidity.
