My husband, with whom I share a son, has consistently been screwed over by this unjust system. His ex-wife has manipulated the system to receive child support based on the fact that my stepchildren were in daycare, but they attended daycare for a total of one month and until they were both in school, they were kept by my husband's mother for free. Also, the fact that we have another child is not considered, so basically if you ever get divorced, don't try to move on and find happiness and don't bring another child into the world because you won't be able to provide for them. I am married and I pay 100% of my son's expenses out of my paycheck, while splitting everything else with my husband because he can't afford it. We live in the cheapest house we could find with enough space to raise three children, drive old used cars that we own, have cut all expenses to just basics and his ex-wife has had men in and out of the kids' lives, including a second failed marriage, has bounced from job to job, but drives brand new cars, goes out to eat every night and goes on vacations whenever she gets rid of the kids. She's had them on Medicaid their entire lives, so she has not paid one cent for their medical expenses except now that she makes too much to qualify and needs a new car, she is taking my husband back to court because he is supposed to pay for their insurance in addition to child support. He had them on his insurance through his job when they separated, but lost that job and insurance before the divorce was even final. He himself didn't have insurance until a year ago. This has been going on for over five years. She has gotten a DUI with the children in her care and hid it from everyone, she has ignored her daughter's health issues, not to mention the mental and emotional issues they are experiencing with having so many new "daddies" come in and out of their lives. She absolutely refuses to communicate with me (which I guess is fine because she doesn't legally have to even though I'm caring for her children) and any time my husband confronts her with something she is doing or that he has a question or concern about, she threatens him with court and he backs down. She is also in contempt for having her (third, that we know of) boyfriend spend the night with the children present. But I am terrified because we cannot afford anything else, much less a lawyer, and we are going to be raked over the coals because she's the mother and she bullied him into getting full custody in the first place. We have tried numerous times to reach out and make a blended family work with her and try to be cordial but she is only responsive when she needs something. We are and have been available for those kids and want nothing more than to have a big, happy family but she insists on keeping everything separate and is incredibly vindictive and spiteful. Her second ex husband even called my husband when they separated to tell him he needed to take custody from her because shSep 20th, 2016Someone from Irmo, SC writes:

Not only are child support laws flawed and blatantly ignorant, they are federally backed....the federal govt should not be backing laws that contradict the constitution of the United States. FATHERS THAT GET DIVORCED ARE NOT CRIMINALS. FATHERS THAT TAKE CARE OF THEIR KIDS LIKE ME ARE NOT CRIMINALS. THEY WAY MY CHILD SUPPORT WAS FRAUDULENTLY CALCULATED IS A CRIME.REPORT COMMENTS

Ankle monitors on parents debt do not take care of their children by supporting them not even wanting to get a job. Then make them go to work I am owed $105,000 on my two grandchildren and that's at the bottom. We live on my retirement disability. Sometimes they can find him and arrest him. Then he's ordered to pay 500 cash Bond of which I never see.my grandchildren go without! Now they have low self-esteem because when you go to school and you don't have certain things or you don't have food in your refrigerator or in your cabinet. Because we're living on Grandma's retirement. Don't you get me wrong I won't give my boys up for it nothing. We would eat grilled cheese sandwiches everyday just to stay together. But something is broken here that needs to be fixed. Put these unworthy parents to work states all over the United States need workers volunteers. My kids grandchildren their daddy now has four or five other children and is paying child support to his wife. To his wife. I never thought over raising my daughter with no child support that was owed to me $84,000. I am standing up now and saying we need to support these children help us. DHS is not the answer and the dad he's having all these children doesn't even have a house yet he gets all this food stamps. You can keep the food stamps I would just like to see the man go to work. If my daughter were here I believe I would expect the same out of her. Put a tracking device on them and make them work somewhere to earn not just take food stamps and tennis or whatever because they don't have a job. I'm very disappointed angry grandmother.REPORT COMMENTS

It takes two to tango. Child support laws are unjust for either man or woman ordered to pay support. These laws affect children NEGATIVELY because of the stress and conflict it creates between the parents. Things should be equal for all parties involved. There are so many unjust issues with current child support laws, I could spend hours writing it all out but don't have the energy to be so angry all the time. Where are those who are supposed to be protecting us from these things? What bitter scorned woman came up with these laws in the first place and what do we have to do to change things?REPORT COMMENTS

I am a father of my own child. My wife was just recently ordered to pay child support to one of her exes. During the proceeding the judge called my child insignificant due to the fact that she was the youngest and she chose to have another child. The other ex seeing she had to pay him is also taking her to court for support. I had to quit my job because the hours didnt match for her to work enough to pay support. We know work different shifts and she works a second job to pay for support. She cut both guys deals when they were paying support. I feel my rights are being revoked due to the fact the judge did not listen to her side of the story. And the fact the judge said my daughter was insignificant was completely whats wrong with this world. The guy got my wife pregnant when she was 17 but her mother refused to press charges because she wanted the money for support instead. He put himself in jail 2 days later. Look into these people before you ruin peoples lives that are innocent in the whole picture.REPORT COMMENTS

I pay $600.00 a month for my daughter which is 4 years old and tge mother of my child left the state and moved to a different state without my knowledge and I just recently went to see my daughter and noticed that she is still wearing the same cloths that I purchased for her over 1 year ago and has nothin new. The mother of my child is doing nothin but sitting in a shelter spending all the money on herself. This is not rite and it doesnt take $600.00 a month to take care of a kid, she also is collecting child support for her son and the state is giving her over $400.00 in food stamps and this is the reason why women who have children do nothing with there lives but sit around because the government allows it and cares nothing about us real men out here doing the rite thing and struggling and not even being able to be in our kids lives because of the mother but still have to struggle to keep a job and continue to work for nothing but a place to live. Its not rite that she gets to sit at home and do nothing and collect over a thousand dollars a month and eat for free and not have to work because tgr government allows it to happen. They should have to show what there spending all this money on because its deffinetely not being spent to support the child it really should be called mother support not child support.REPORT COMMENTS

I agree that parents should be held responsible for their children, but this law stipulates unfair minimums that cause financial crisis to thise that honestly pay support. This law needs to be removed or minimum onligations need to be revised lower. The only things this law supports is the creation of deadbeat dads and parents who end up in jail for not being able to pay child support.REPORT COMMENTS

I know firsthand how unjust this "system" just really is. I was engaged in a custody battle with the mother of my 2 daughters and had been paying $119 per week in support. I was granted sole residential custody on July 15 and I am STILL paying support. The support order is in effect in Brooklyn, NY and I reside in Buffalo, NY. Due to the ineffectiveness of the court system in NYC, even though a formal motion was filed to terminate the order, they continue to delay termination of it. My ex is knowingly collecting support from me for our children who she isn't even caring for, essentially committing fraud, but because of the structure of the child support system, there is absolutely nothing I can do until the court in NYC stops procrastinating and justly terminates the order. This just serves as an example of how fathers are in effect being robbed at the behest of the mothers of their children.REPORT COMMENTS

Let me just start by saying this isn't right to these men that are struggling trying to pay child support while there exes just sit on there butts not having to work and remarried and some of them have two or three baby daddy's there getting child support from shouldn't they have to also hold down a job and help support there kids to not just these father's and then when the father's have another baby with another woman they have no mercy because they tell them well you knew you couldn't afford it because you was paying child support ok how about like I said these woman having multiple baby daddy's and getting multiple support checks shouldn't a judge tell them that they shouldn't be getting all this child support of course they won't it is wrong!!!REPORT COMMENTS

I have 6 more kids at home that i support 100% i work hard to provide for my 6 kids yet this other man has the dignity to lie to the superior courts and get away with while i am loosing all my childrens thing because i can no longer afford it. My car was repossessed now i have no liable transportation for my kids i had to move 40 miles away from my formal home in order to afford child support and now driving 1 1/2 to work one way every day. The system is rigged in a manner of keeping women from social services. As the father's are abused at all angles. Many give up trying to do the right thing, when it's him against the mother and the state. How many dead beat dad's where a creation of this system? My guess many. Someone should ask why a woman would have 3 kids with different dad's and not be in a relationship with at least one of the fathers. That to me paints a picture that perhaps the woman has issues and uses the system to her advantage. If system was truly even and fair, the court should start with 50/50 right out the gate with each parent supporting there children on their time themselves. This system ruins our children, abuses the father's and promotes unstable building blocks in our children's life. THIS MUST CHANGEREPORT COMMENTS

If this petition is actually active I would like if there is any hope for men to actually get heard in court. Instead of just paying child support, the state is getting a portion. It's hard enough just paying a women these funds and the child doesn't even receive it. I pay $325.00 for one child and have 5 other children im struggling with because of this. And the fact of the matter is the child im payin for don't even receive the funds. I wish something could be done about this. ThanksREPORT COMMENTS

My boyfriend has to pay a ridiculous amount of child support to his ex that won't even allow him to see his son (good luck getting the court to enforce that). His son doesn't even live with her and instead lives with her rich parents that pay for him (courts don't care about evidence when it comes to women), she just blows his money on drugs, clothes, a Mercedes, etc. while he struggles to pay his medical costs for cancer treatment :(REPORT COMMENTS
