I agree totally But good man get washed up with this issue all the time. You have dame good man out here on child support in for no reason and they are there for their child 24/7. Please someone explain and defined child support for me? Dead beats finically, and physically just not there for the child That's who should be on child support RIGHT I'm I wrong? Ok so why are there GUY's on child support that's there 24/7 for the child on child support these woman need a rude awaking and the good GUY'S need a brake the one's that are actually there in the child's life. I believe that the money these woman receive from these father's should be monitor just because the money almost never go towards the child ever. So it's pointless and the child is still broken and hurt because money changes nothing. there should be a check in point ever month that the child is being taking care of put the child support in the trash can and the government should make both parents pay not just one into a fund were the money is there when the child needs it and let a responsible person of the family get what they need daily. Something needs to happen the man are getting Hammered out here.

Funny that people don't know that the states get a dollar for dollar match from uncle sam, the same amount the states child support impose on fathers. Conflict of interest does not hold to the best interest of the child.

If we as a society want to progress against gender roles, then men and women both need to be required to contribute financially and emotionally to raising their child. The law needs to be modernized.

Yes, i agree with this. I have a friend who's ex purposely does not work because she can make a couple of thousands from child support. On top of that, he still takes them everywhere because she refuses to do anything because she is mad at him. I am also looking for a change in the amount of child support. It is too much in many cases and women use the money for personal wants, not for the child. There should be both a set amount based on average cost of child care. Both parents should have to work to meet their half. And it should not increase or decrease based on what the parents make. Europe has done this for years and they don't have all the scamming of gold digging women who can set men up.

There needs to be some major changes to this law. Its horrible how the parent who's paying child support suffers financially while the other parent sits at home collecting child support. On more than one occasion, my husband and I lost our home because child support granted his ex wife more money. It caused such a financial hardship that we had to ask for government assistance for food and ultimately lost our home. This is far more than unfair, it's unjustified to put a family out of their home while the majority of the parents that collect aren't being held accountable to be financially responsible for their children. The law is enabling and promoting laziness in these parents, while punishing the hard working parents by robbing them of their hard earned money making it near impossible to survive.

I work full-time as does my husband. He has 4 children with his previous wife and I have one child with my previous husband. I carry health insurance for all 5 children. We each have joint custody (50/50) with the other parent. My husband's ex-wife does not work. The term, "unemployed" would insinuate that she is seeking work. She is not and never has. All of her children are over the age of 9. She collects child support and skimps on the children to make that her sole income. It's disgraceful. Laws must change and Americans should be held accountable for their children. Every parent should have a financial stake in raising the children they bring into the world. It's time to end child support for people who do not deserve it and allow parents to directly support their own children without enriching ex-spouses and biological parents who use the money for themselves.

Child support is becoming a business. Women are having multiple children with different men to get child support benefits until new laws are set out this will continue to be a problem. Their should be fairness for all parties. The lawyers are making money off these situations as well because they are billing both parties over and over again to get child support increases and decreases. I think that the government shouldn't be involved in family matters. When a spouse dies and a child receives social security money they put all these check points in place because they do not want to pay the money. So why are these checkpoints not put in place for child support? Child support requires in some cases that the paying party provide health insurance. Why doesn't social security provide health insurance? Social Security in essence is the equivalent to child support if a child parent passes. The laws are unfair. Things should be fair around the table. If a party is awarded child support they should be obligated to match the awarded amount. It took two people to make the child. I know that this may fall on death ears but know that this is a problem that can be solved. Children should not be used to generate revenue. That is what causes the bigger problem. The child is not the focus when you have money involved. Public case studies should be done on this matter. Children deserve the best and I would give my whole check to support my kids and live on the streets but this should never be the case. Money is the root to all evil.

Mandatory state stipulated child support obligations are a direct violation of my rights. I live in NY and because I have 2 children my support level is 25% of my gross income (minus fica). This amount of money is not spent on my children and as a matter of fact is a higher financial obligation to my children than when I was living in the same houshold. Mandatory percentages must be abolished or custodial parents must be required to show how these monies are spent on the children.

If a man is paying child support then he should be granted his rights the same day!!! NO lawyer should have to be brought in or paid for!!!! & If the Mother makes the choice of getting government help like K-Tap then she needs to pay it back!!! The man should not always be responsible for the Mothers actions!!!!!! If the lady says hey I am having a abortion & then doesn't speak to you 2 years later & wants child support than that answer should be a NO you made the choice of keeping the baby on your own!!

Child support is not there to help the man or woman maintain their home, car,or lifestyle. If you didn't have a child you would have to do that on your own.Child support should be only for the kid.Cloths, food, day care, and medical.Like WIC there should be a card issued that can only be used for certain purchases or payment of certain services. My daughter is 19 and I help her still by paying her phone, some food expenses, internet, and her Braces.I don't have to do these things but I do because my daughter is the world to me.But my money or any parents money should be spent on or for the child.Expenses like rent apply because you need to get a bigger place but these things can be worked out.Its just that the system is lazy and rather do the work it leaves these big gaps that allow for abuse and neglect of funds.

The mother to my two kids from my 1st marriage just took me to court for child support, I am in the army so my income is transparent, along with BAH. The mother had a kid with a young man while I payed alimony. Mother intents to pur me and my new family our in the street taking me to court because she knows im retiring from the Army. The judge doesn't know she just married this young guy that just joined the ARMY. The mother under- employs herself on purpose to meet criteria of empoverished. Does not claim her huisband as living with her and her kid. and then after all this claims a hardship for her kid affecting my child support for my two kids that are 13 and 16. Look her up on facebook and tell me if she looks needy. Lisette Delacruz.

OK I pay child support to two of my kids mothers and the one refuses to work and sits at home. She pawns my daughter off all the time and has even admitted to doing drugs. She's got another kid with another guy and is pregnant with her third child but yet the gonvernment allows her to sit at Home and collect support and benefits while I work full time to have to live off of $1000 a month if I'm lucky. And I got to take care of two other kids and myself. How is it fair that were stuck struggling while the mothers live the high life.

I completely agree. My ex is now married to a guy who makes twice what I do. She got the court to allow her to take the kids away from me out of state. So not only did I lose my kids, child support more than doubled. She refuses to work, and gets a free ride while all my kids are in school. She is a horrible parent who makes my kids suffer, does not try to educate them, and spends most of the money on herself. If she wanted to move out of state to dig gold elsewhere she should have been required to give up custody of my kids.

I have 3 children (7,11,12) and pay out approx $4k each month in child support. I live off of my credit cards when necessary. I do not get to claim my children as dependents so its all cash to her and I pay the taxes. Crazy. I almost lost my home 3 times over the last 5 years because of this. I cant keep up and its a long way to 18 years of age from here. She works part time and makes minimum wage. She moved to Huntington Beach with our kids. 75 miles away from me so she could live with her boyfriend and his children. He also makes minimum wage. How many people do you know who can afford to live at the beach earning minimum wage? I pay for it all. How is that even close to being fair? Update the laws please.

I think what is unfair is that some parents pay the child support to their ex-wives/ex-partners, who often only use a tiny fraction of the money on the children. In a non-divorced couple, a parent can allocate the exact amount needed for his or her children for cloth, food, health care, education and entertainment. In a separated household situation, the paying parent does not have this right to allocate. The rationale for not providing any deduction for child support payments made to the paying parents is that the paying parents would have to support their children anyway and, therefore, should not receive any form of tax deductions. However, under certain situations and on a case-by-case status, tax deduction should be provided to the paying parents when the child support payments well exceed the amount needed to support the children. The situation applies to many shared custody parents, who are actually paying more than if the children only reside with them less than 50% of the time. In many situation the child support payment payees aren't providing their equitable contributions to supporting their children. The largest logical loophole is that there is currently no accountability of child support payments are being used for supporting the children. This is a fact that millions of child support paying parents in the country will appreciate.

I also believe that if 'mom' is receiving child support from a dad who is just barely able to support himself but is living with another boyfriend or husband and he makes substantial pay(he wants benefit of shacking with her he should assume financial support and not just bedroom priviledges). This is all too often the case and too many judges are way too partial for the woman, unfairly. It's time the courts stop allowing this unfair travesty to continue...lets face it...these moms are using their CHILD AS MEAL TICKETS AND THE COURTS ARE HELPING THEM!

This should also be changed for reason of these women knowing they will get pregnant additional times so they can collect more child suppot. My son was told by his girlfriend that she could never get pregnant due to being raped as a child. Her parents confirmed this not only to him but to me in a conversation. What happens? VIOLA! She got pregnant, refused to allow my son to visit with boy, even left state without court permission (Oklahoma) or notifying my son. Court does nothing except force my son to pay, threaten to take drivers license (stupid..if can't drive to job..no job) while she still lives off parents and collects from two dads for two kids that it was impossible to have. Too many women are pulling this and these moronic judges allow them them to do so. Sometimes dad has hard times and struggles to just turn over his paycheck to these women...and no way to have a place for himself to live. Child support laws need to be changed to be fair to dads and not just hand out money to these women popping out these babies..after all, the man didn't make the baby on his own..she decided to be in act also.

I just want to say that if parents have a 50/50 split custody agreement then child support should not be paid. The law is unfair against fathers. If anything is to be changed I believe the court should mandate that the children get an attorney and the cost should be 50/50 on the attorney giving the child a say in the divorce because it is the parents that are splitting not the children. Too much is placed on assuming wjat is best gor the children while parents fight over money. Thats what it boils down to. I believe the court should man date 50/50 custody, and for filing false claims of abuse I also believe the court should mandate like 30 days jail time.

Child support should be put on a card & only be used for the child, It should not be permitted to purchase alcohol or cigarettes, etc. It should be just got the child. So much should atomatically go to household bills, etc. & the recipient should never be allowed to use as she/he sees fit. So many children go without. Mothers collecting welfare, while they own their own business, their house is paid for & they receive quite a bit back in taxes. The household should be looked into, as there are so many people whom really are in need.

Child support should be based on 40 hours a week ONLY! I have to work 60-80 hours a week and if I fall below that, I could lose my home. Yes, lose my home. I'm very cold in my house because I have the heat set very very low. I've cut cable, and walk to work when I don't have my son. I've also lost 20 lbs in a month (that's kinda a good thing, but still). And this is all because I fought for more time with my son, won, and now the ex wife is ****ed off, doing everything she can to hurt me. The pressure of all this, made my fiancé move out and break up with me. All while my ex laughs about it. Please, please do something about this!! It's not going to be alright
