while working and paying my child support they took my DL because they was not getting enough I went from 0 to 23000 behind because it took them a year to get the information plus when they took my DL I got fired from my job because I was a driver I have to cases and they want put them together because one started before the other how stupid is it to take a persons DL when you want money from that person when you can not get a job with out them and then they put you in jail so you can get futher behind in child support I have my son 80% of the time im behind 4000 and they add $250 for each month I don't pay them it goes to the state not to his mother because she stopped the child support they say that's there payment each month for having to keep up with itREPORT COMMENTS

My oldest son is 33 years old and has been paying child support since he was 18. He has a beautiful intelligent son who will be 15 in February, who he loves very much and doesn't begrudge paying to help support. The problem is, my son was unemployed for a couple of months, which caused him to get behind on his 300 plus dollars a month child support. It also put him living in his car while he worked temporary jobs and went to college part time. Now he's finally got a permanent full time job and he's back in school but child support is taking 55 percent of his check every week. You try living on 9 dollars an hour, and then give up 55 percent of that meager wage to child support. His son lives with his mother in a home she and her husband own they both work hard and are doing well. They are good people and my son doesn't begrudge them their good fortune, and is thankful that his son has all of his needs and most of his want s met, it is increasingly difficult though for my son to try and maintain a positive attitude and hope that one day he will be able to stop having to live in his car and be able to afford health insurance for himself, and food, gas and you know? Other luxuries like that. I Live in the country, very few jobs here so my son stays in the city, 40 miles away so he can work and get to work, or else he could stay with me. We do what we have to do to take care of business, but it sure can beat a person down. His child support was figured when he had a decent higher paying factory job, that plant closed down, and you have to hire an attorney to have your child support re figured, difficult when you're broke and broken spirited. Child support shouldn't cause the paying parent to have to live in their car!REPORT COMMENTS

My ex has only seen our son sporatically over the course of 12 years. My son is now about to be 16 and my ex is forcing him to see him again after a two year absence and being 4.5 months behind on child support and not carrying insurance on our son. My husband and I carry the brunt of all expenses for my son. Those who choose not to carry their end of the bargain should pay the consequences of tougher laws, so no more children like mine fall into a deep depression and contimplate suicide.REPORT COMMENTS

We should be enforcing parent involvement not money. Money should be 50/50; if you can't afford the child you don't need the child. We are failing all about Americans by letting them think that if they have a child they can get free housing free food free cell phone and child support and not work. We should in force work first.REPORT COMMENTS

In this day when 2 incomes are required for most households, we need laws that consider both parents's financial contribution to the children they create. As it stands, one person is expected to support two households, enabling a warped idea of money, responsibility, & lifestyle choices for kids whose mothers choose to live off the teat of their ex's hard work. Additionally we need to consider child support PAID in calculating social safety nets like food stamps, housing, etc so children born of 2nd marriages have the same guarantees as their half-siblings.REPORT COMMENTS

My uncle is a hardworking man who makes 6 figures a year, yet struggles to make ends meet. Why? Because of this system. Unfortunately, my uncle was a victim of a classless woman who's one purpose was to get his money, a gold digger. They had one child and they were divorced later. Because she refuses to show him his kids, he has to throw almost 40% of his salary to a welfare wh0re. This system disregards men's rights completely. Feminist groups are always saying how we take advantage of them and has shaped politics and governments in a way that is biased against us. Something seriously needs to be addressed to patch the loopholes in the system and restitute those suffered. To clarify, I'm not against divorces that were just not working out as envisioned; I'm against the fact that these wh0res exploit the judiciary system popping out babies and essentially stealing off of all of the men she has victimized. It's no wonder that many guys are skeptical about relationships seeing this consistent cycle of date->marry->kids->divorce->child support->destitution->bankruptcy Support fathers rightsREPORT COMMENTS

My ex gets $500 from me for support. My daughter is now 5 yrs old and I haven't been able to see her since she was 7 months old. I have paid as I am on ssdi now due to being hurt while in the Army. I've tried everything to see where they live now, but nothing and no one is willing to help. Even after the states what ya to take a stupid DNA test to prove its your when ya know it is is also stupid as well waste of money. Bad thing is now I'm on social security, I just found out that child support ever sent in the court order paperwork for me to be put on the birth certificate. So I have to shell out more $ just to beagle to do everything I was told years ago was done. My opinion is there should be laws to help protect the fathers as in if the females won't allow us to see our kids they shouldn't get all the $$$. I know how the state agencies help. I was in the meeting with my ex cause she had another older child with someone else. I remember the lady asked if she worked and got support from him my ex said yes, the state worker told her if she says no than she could get help if she says yes than she couldn't get anything. So how's that fair at all. This is how all states are broke by helping always one side. If they had tighter rules to help both sides, than I bet there wouldn't be ladies out there just having them to get more moneyREPORT COMMENTS

My ex-wife gets $1200 from me for child support. She refuses to let my kids with me if it's not my weekend. This includes holidays, birthdays, and any special occasions. If it's not my weekend I can't see them. She has severely burned one of my children, one sees a therapist because he has been abused while under his mom's care, and one we have discovered is the child of her step dad. That's right my ex and her step dad had a relationship and had a kid together. They both lied about who the father was to avoid their own embarrassment at the cost of their child's feelings. All of these things have happened to my children and a judge still let my ex take them home with her. I couldn't believe it. What else needs to happen to these kids before someone sees how unfair this system is. The belief is that mothers can take better care of the kids, but with such a bad series of events can she really do the job?REPORT COMMENTS

My child support recently was increased to $940 a month because the visitation percentage changed. The mother figured out that if she keeps my daughter from me my visitation percentage drops to 0% and I have to pay more in child support. I can go to the police and they can write up a police report, but then what? I have to go to court and hopefully find the mother in contempt of court, but that will be 6 months to a year from now. By then I would not have seen my daughter for years now. At this point the mother can easily get out of any contempt of court case because I'm a stranger to my daughter now. All she has to do is say that my daughter doesn't want to see me. If I get the police to come to the mothers house to enforce the visitation order all the mother has to do is ask my daughter if she wants to see her dad, my daughter will say no, because what child wants to leave the parent they know for someone they haven?t seen in years that brought a bunch of scary police to their door. I?m not a dead beat dad. I want to see my kids. The mother won?t let me and because the court system is so slow I?ve been alienated from my daughter. I want to support my child, but I don?t want to support a dead beat mother and her many boyfriends that come and go. The Office of Child Support Services is only concerned with one thing, collecting money. Probably because the measurement for the success of the agency is based on how much money they collect.REPORT COMMENTS

I am a mother of 2 out system is wrong giving mother all rights over the kids and leaving the fathers out just as a ATM that is all fathers are ATM way because out system thinks that a father can not care for a child the same way a mother can THAT IS WRONG many fathers out there wish they could have their kids more often but do to the system and how is set up makes women just want to satay home and live of what assistance or child support is giving to them making them not to want more then just continue to have kid after kid way because they can sit home do nothing to better them selves and live of someone else. I have been separeated from my kids father and let me tell you I rather work directly with him for financial only when I need it because I do have a full time job and on times when he can have the kids. FATHERS NEED TO HAVE MORE RIGHTS! and mothers need to get out there and started doing something good for them selves and not just sit around waiting for the ATM to shot out money! I can proudly say I can support my kids in case dad cant help.REPORT COMMENTS

men and women should have equal of custody children and child support should be based off both parents income nationwide with a preference for both parents to have equal custody and pay no child support. There is a gender bias where the woman takes a large portion of man's wealth for child support after a court hearing and divorce. This needs to be addressed immediately.REPORT COMMENTS

I am a community college professor who has supported my family from day one. My wife spent money beyond our means, ran up our credit cards, did nothing to increase the value of our home, then left because I tried to get her on board with family and homemaking. I did nearly all cooking and cleaning! Then she left. She did not want to work despite being a college grad from a prestigious school. Now, after massive lawyer fees I find I must pay not only child support for 50/50 custody, but also spousal support. My only recourse is to file bankruptcy, and I will STILL have a small amount of expendable income, if even that. The law WILL NOT TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION THE FINER POINTS OF MY SITUATION wherein my salary fluctuates from month to month. They only look at the total amount, and when she left she spent all our money and did not pay bills, which I had to pay later with little money on top of paying legal fees. THIS IS WRETCHED INJUSTICE!!!! I have not problem supporting my son as needed, but must lose everything to support someone who left our family, and who will threaten to have me lose the home my son loves? SOMETHING MUST BE DONE ABOUT THIS!!!REPORT COMMENTS

I had just turned 15 when I got together with my ex, she was 19. A bit of craziness happnened. A year later I chased her down due to news and had a paternity test done. The baby girl was mine and me and my family took her in as she was our blood and I did my best to connect and gave all I had at that age to help her mother I left home within a year. I jumped house to house. I did what I could so she didn't leave and end on the street with our child. She lived with my family for 3 years in my room, my bed, my dresser, all my things. I left with nothing but the personal effects on me. I became a Manager at a local petsmart after years of work under 18 for my grandfather's bison ranch. I made decent money enough to survive, and the benefits where good. I got into legal trouble and couldn't work due to circumstances and courts requirement for 2 years I collected quite the acrument. I've almost paid all it back. Even during times of no job or being hungry my self I've always paid. The system sucks and it's very unorganized and a hassle. It can be manipulated easily by those in control and is a horrible burden. My ex makes 80+ a year I barely make 24 to 30 a year. Eventually I will get there but this a a huge burden and can be abused. I'm okay with my small problems. My father raised three children, one not even his. And he never received a dime in child support nor ever asked. The one that wasn't his pays my mother(even back pay today we are all grown) who didn't look after me and my sisters anyway. He has another son eventually who lived his whole first year of infancy with us as a family then his mother took off my father at this point from master mechanic to computer engineer has came up in his tax bracket and was raising three and paying almost 1500 to 2k a month for one. In 2010 his company laid off 300k in the us, he was the director of the group after all were let go he was. We lost everything, well he did. Two houses bankruptcy everything, and in the mean time the person receiving thousands a month for 14 years asks for 27000 in area rages from while he has been out of work. My father takes about 50 medications a day from debilitating medical conditions has had multiple surgeries in the past couple months and has been sick for years. He is disabled the latest is dystonia parkinsons and a insulin pump he's 48. They refuse to lower and she used to work for her attorney and the county. St clair,il. They are arresting him soon in contempt since his wife wouldn't hold 27k from the sale/trade of the home her mother left her that saved the family from the street during the economic crisis.REPORT COMMENTS
