I am a widow with a government pension. I can not afford to retire, because of this law.

When i applied for my SS the clerk informed me i would have been eligible in the area of $600.00.But with the windfall elimination act i'm clearing $ 205.00 before i have taxes taken out.How sad is that to get penalized roughly $400.00.Feels like i'm a 2nd class American citizen...Please reverse this Fairness Act..Thank you..

I retired from the Military in 1975, and retired from the Federal Government in 1996 and was hit by the Windfall Elimination Provision Law. I would like to know, why was I hit with that law when it was not passed until 1983.

Why are we as Citizens of the USA penalized for the Windfall Act and GPO when USA citizens working between foreign countries (Canada) are given a pass? They get to work under the "Totalization Act" agreement between the USA and many foreign countries. This agreement in effect allow these people to pool their work credits so they qualify for more credit work time in either country without penalty. NOT FAIR TO CITIZENS THAT GET PENALIZED UNDER THE WINDFALL & GPO ACTS. ELIMINATE THE WINDFALL & GPO SO PEOPLE WHO WERE NEVER TOLD CAN HAVE A DECENT RETIREMENT TOO.

I'm 65 and have worked since I was 18. I spent ONLY 15 years working as a teacher and paying into a public employee pension. For over 32 years (I held other jobs while I taught) paying into social security, but because I have a small pension, I am severely penalized by SSA. This penalty is unfair and severely affects my life. Please give those of us who suffer under the current law JUSTICE. Pass the SS Fairness Act. --DM

My late husband paid into SS all his life. He would be mortified that after loosing him, I was denied a paltry 800$ in widow benefits since I receive a civil service disability retirement! This has to be changed!

Its all about fairness. if you don't repeal, then let us opt out. You do what you wish with our money and don't give us the same return as everyone else, so give us a choice. Law Enforcement Officers never had the luxury of 401k plans to supplement our retirements. Just give us what you give everyone else......a fair return on what we contributed.

This penalty is unfair and not needed to ensure the financial viability of Social Security. Raise the ceiling on wages subject to withholding and fix everything at once. Act now!

These laws have been in La. for over 35 to 40 years, a real injustice to people (teachers, policeman, firemen and all public service jobs were unfairly putting into Soc. Sec. and now after retiring, unable to receive all Soc. Sec. that we deserve as we payed into this system!!)

25 years civil service with a reduced pension. 15 years paying into social security and still working. It is stealing when you take money knowing you won't give any back. So when I am unable to work I won't be able to afford my prescriptions on my reduced civil service pension. Yet they give money in the form of welfare, food stamps, etc to those who don't want to work. This again isn't just unfair it should be illegal as it is criminal and is a scam like others scammers taking money from people with no intention of giving anything back.

When social security deduction payments were taken from our checks it was not at a reduced rate so our social security benefits should not be at a reduced rate. We paid in and we worked for it.

All we ask is to be treated fairly and not be penalized for being public serveants. I lived by the rule of "treat others the way you want to be treated" for 27 years as a police officer. Now I ask you, how would you like to be treated?
