If Congress would have money stolen from their retirement benefits action would be taken very quickly. But taking money from us is ok? But, I was given an extra 5 or 6 dollars per month because I am a Veteran. That is an insult! Thanks for your service. Have a McDonalds cup of coffee on your government once a week. Or Starbucks once a month,

I would appreciate a response to why a bill goes to the house ways and means committee and never gets out of their committee. Session after session the social security fairness act is brought up. There are 185 representatives in congress that are supporting the repeal of the windfall profit elimination and government pension offset and it sits there . Hard working public servants are being denied social security benefits that they were required by law to pay but cannot receive. Can you understand the reason citizens of this country are disheartened with government? Stop the fighting between your parties, it isn't a party in the real world. Bill Riley , I would appreciate a response other than your standard email.

My husband worked two jobs for most of his life until retiring. He was a full time paid firefighter in NJ and worked part time jobs "on the books" paying into social security for his whole career. His social security benefits were severely reduced because he was able to collect his firefighters pension when he retired. Why? How is that fair that he cannot receive his full entitlement that he paid into the Social Security System for all of those years?? He paid into the plan, he should not be cheated out of a benefit he was led to believe would be there for him.

I'm a Vietnam vet(USAF),a retired elementary teacher (31 years grades 3-5), and can barely make it each month on my retirement income. I get no annual increases in my teacher's retirement. I'm delaying as long as I can afford to applying for my SS benefits. Please help the elderly and poor.

It is just wrong to take away pension earned by working in settings that paid into the social security system because teachers have a TRS pension check. Texas has one of the lowest national contribution rates to the teachers funds and requires teachers to pay for health insurance. Other states pay health insurance premiums for active teachers. Texas pays the health insurance premiums for all other retired state employees, but not teachers. The Texas legislature doesn't seem to value public school teachers.

I am an educator with 40 quarters of Social Security paid into the system, however I will not retire from a district that pays into Social Security and will receive a reduced benefit.

As a retired LAPD officer with over 25 yrs. service I was shocked and dismayed when talking to a counselor at the Social Security Benefits Office after being told %40 of my private sector employee contribution would be eliminated as if it did not exist. To arbitrarily displace any ones contribution from a trust fund without a vote of the membership as far as I know is a class "A" felony, yet this government decided to circumvent the law and use those funds as they saw fit. The social security representative totally agreed with me and stated it was something that should be corrected immediately. Lets get back on the right track and be treated fairly and not singled out because we receive a just deserved "Pension" many of us risked our lives to secure at the end of our service to the communities we protected.

I worked, paid into SS, earned it aside from my gov pension, and i see no reason why i dont get it?? AND if our state is withholding SS money, from a certain sect of workers,,then all of the states should have to do the same? Just dont see why our state is targeting gov workers?

This law disregards and disrespects law abiding, taxpayers! I have paid PLENTY in my 26 years in the country and feel that I am MORE than entitled to my social security benefit (I use the word benefit as this is what it is generally referred to. The proper term is ENTITLEMENT) I paid all my dues in the UK for my pension, and when I see the abusers of the Social Security system and the politicians who robbed it blind to make it almost insolvent it makes my blood boil. A lawsuit was won by Israel over this issue and they won. USA cannot impinge on Israel pensions. What about your the UK??? Probably your best friend in the world! One more hardship by Washington on hard working and honest individuals. This is nothing more than a tax levied to make up the shortfall in revenue that the politicians STOLE from the Social Security system and left worthless IOU's Do you feel no shame?

This is so important as it is unfair to penalize government workers that also put years in under the private sector.

I paid into ss for 27 yrs. I have a small teacher pension I paid into for 15 yrs. My ss benefits are more than my teacher benefits. However, since I have a teacher benefit I will be penalized 2/3 of my ss. This will put me poverty. And, yes I agree that this awful law discremates again public server workers and women. Repeal this law now.

I taught preschool for 25 years, at times part-time because I have three children, and became a librarian about 15 years ago. I agree it is not fair to cut my social security benefits simply because I started to work in public service.

Please stop discriminating against women by taking their widows' benefits. The elderly are already strapped financially and taking what their husbands' paid into social security is unfair.

It is grossly unfair to those of us, who have contributed to social security and have earned the right to those benefits, to then cut those benefits just because we later become a public servant. Yet countless numbers of illegal immigrants cross our borders and receive various government benefits for which they have done nothing to earn. Do the right thing by our citizens and eliminate both WEP & GPO.
