Retired CSRS after 32 years, worked before and after this to get 40 quarters in, just to find out that I will receive nothing from Social Security unless I probably work till I am 85 or 90, and they would probably still have a deduction on that. There are people who are double dipping and triple dipping with no deduction, this law is the most unfair law in the U.S. I can guarantee you that if all the people receiving Social Security, and a lot have never put a dime into it; were told that they would receive a reduction or it would be taken away all together, there would be such and uproar in this country. Social Security is separate and should be treated as such. How fair is it that you put your hard work in thinking you will get something down the road, only to find out it will be reduced or taken away, would of been nice to have known this 40 some years ago!REPORT COMMENTS

A FREE foreign pension (unrelated to work) is NOT penalized under SSA rules (such as a pension granted by virtue of being a national of that country -- eg Israel) whereas a foreign pension EARNED with work-related contributions IS penalized in the US, even if one has made contributions to both systems. DeKalb County School System in Atlanta refused to contribute to Social Security during the 7 years I worked for them as a teacher. They also lied to us and said they would contribute to Teacher Retirement System of Georgia. Not one dime has been contributed by them. When I retire, $385 will be deducted from the $1400 I'm getting from Social Security... Is this fair? I'll only receive $965 a month from teacher retirement.
