I paid into the SS system for 36 years and I think it appalling that my SS benefits are penalized because I also worked hard and retired from a law enforcement career with its own retirement system. I also am affended by the very name applied to this working penalty, Windfall Elimination Provision. This is not a windfall, I as well as many others worked hard at two and three jobs at a time and paid into a retirement system, as well as SS, in order that I could someday retire with my wife in a comfortable manner. I hope the bureaucrats come to their senses and realize this law is only punishing teachers and public safety members and I STRONLY urge ALL MEMBERS of Congress to support HR235 & S484.

After retiring (28 years) from a lower paid government position, I worked 13 years under Social Security paying self-employment tax. I urge you to support H.R. 235/S.484 and repeal these inequities.

The public sector workers are being unfairly penalized with this reduction in benefit and full federal taxation on their pension benefits (most Social Security benefits are tax-free). They paid a portion of their earnings into the public pension system (The state wide average for CALPERS employer contributions is 25% of the eventual benefit. The remaining 75% comes frmo employee contributions and earnings from investments. In the City of Santa Clara the employess pay almost 100% towards the pension fund.). In many cases they had other jobs during their careers in which they contributed to Social Security for the required number of quarters. Those citizens with private pensions that were fully funded by the companies they worked for are not penalized in this manner. This legislation should be passed immediately to end this unfair practice.

Please support and pass the Social Security Fairness Act of 2010. I am a public school teacher who paid into social security for almost 20 years. I've paid into the Kentucky Teachers Retirement system for 12 years. It is unfair to penalize me and keep me from receiving my social security benefits, which are rightfully mine. I am already an underpaid and overworked public school teacher who has spent a good portion of her life teaching in at-risk schools. I look forward to retiring one day...but only if I don't have to look forward to a daily struggle each and every day. PLEASE, PLEASE PASS HR235 and S. 484 - Social Security Fairness Act.

Those, like myself, who chose teaching in CA as a second career, will never complete the years of service necessary to get a full pension. Before teaching, I earned my SS quarters and deserve to receive, my full SS benefits upon retirement. Worse yet, my wife will suffer financially upon my death. Repeal the offsets now!

After working and paying into the system for close to 50 years, my husband passed away before he was able to collect one cent in Social Security Benefits. I supplemented our family income by working as a teacher in my state community college system. Because I have qualified for a state pension on my own, I am not eligible for the spousal benefits based on my husband's contributions. This is very unfair. Please repeal the GPO. It is very unfair.

I am a 64 year old female. I retired fro DOD January 29, 2010. I have been advised that because I have a government pension. I cannot recieve my full social secirity. That is so unfair. You provide SSI to those that have never contributed to the system qnd you deny me the earning that my work provided. In addition, we have thousands of of retired governmnet workers returning to jobs at the same agency, that should not be allowed. If you need to retire from the government why return the next week? My small retirement is needed. I am single and my bills did not decrease when I retired. I have earned my social security and I need it. No one should have the right to deny what you have worked for and are entiltrd to.

As a current 21 year public servant who has worked in priviae indsutry and earned all required number of quarters to be considered eligible for SS benefits on my own record, I've been told that I stand to lose 2/3rd of my benefit and that I cannot collect a penny on my husband's record. I simply will never be able to retire. I urge the Congress and Senate to pass this act as soon as humanly possible.

While I hope that this becomes law, I don't think it will ever happen. It's just too expencive, and with the mad spending that our President is doing, there just isn't any money for such an expencive program.

I've waited too many years for this. It is unfair that highly paid retired executives can collect huge amounts in retirement pay plus their full Social Security benefits. Where's the fairness in that?
