It is time that older works be treated fairly for the social security contributions they have made. Many have been required to pay into more than one retirement system. We need to stop penalizing our seniors and release the "full benefits" they have earned.

I have paid into social security for 11 years now to the tune of now $400 a month and I am not entitled. Then give me my money so I can pay for my insulin and all my other meds if you aren't going to let me collect for what I rightfully earned and worked for. I am 54 and could never make it on the reduced government pension that I get. This is actually criminal to take this from people that you never intend to give credit for.!!!!!!!!1

Receiving only 50% of what you've actually earned from SS is unfair to say the least.

I will be getting out of the teaching field before I am fully vested so that I will not have the social security penalty. Unfortunate situation for many, please fix this unfair penalty.....or continue losing many professionals to other careers that allow you to collect social security benefits of spouses.

As a Civil Service divorcee/employee I find that the current law is very harsh and unfair to divorcees. I have lost some of my retirement to my ex wife but under the current law I cannot claim a share of her social security without getting severely penalized. Please correct this gross injustice to divorcees. Thankyou

I paid in and I expect to get what I was promised in SS retirement. It should not matter I took a job in education after I paid in what I was supposed to.

With no increases in state retirement benefits for the past three years, the SSFA, if passed, would blunt the blow for us retirees on income that is stagnant. To the U.S Congress: Have a heart; help state government employees survive their golden years.

After 20 years in the private sector, I started teaching 6 years ago. I feel it is unfair that I should be penalized by the Social Security system. I paid every pay check for over 20 years and I have never taken advantage of unemployment or disability. If our countries is trying to encourage people to go in to teaching this is not the way.

I like many of you have been financially forced to work under both systems in order to make ends meet. I just met with my retirement councilor and it looks like I will have to continue to work as long as I am able. I am from a military family and my father, God rest his soul, served his country for 22 years and then did civilian work for another 20 and my nephew has done the same. Why can they double dip, while we can't? I certainly don't begrudge our military their just dues, but sure would like to see across the board fairness.

I am a hard working American. I have worked enough to satisfy all of my SS quarters and this was done in my younger days. I have been an educator in Texas for the past 19 years and will draw TRS when I retire in a few years. It is hard for me to understand why I can't draw my full SS retirement as well. I worked hard for that money and it all started when I was hired to do a job. I worked and my employer paid me on time and also withdrew SS from my check and sent it to the Government to be dispursed at a later date. In my opinion that money is still mine and I deserve the entire amount returned to me in a timely manner. My Mother is retired from the education business and also draws TRS. She was married to my father for 58 years until he passed away 2 months ago. He retired as a ranch manager for 42 years and for my Mom to learn that she can only receive a small portion of my Dad's retirement check because our Government can't manage there debt, was very devastating for her. THIS IS NOT FAIR! My dad also served the Marine Corp and was honoarbly discharged at the end of his service. Our Congressmen and women needs to get off of there butts and start fighting for our rights as AMERICAN CITIZENS.

Tired of being penalized by this discriminating Act. Get transcripts from CNN.COM/TRANSCRIPTS for 8-14-10, 1:00 P.M. AIRING OF YOUR MONEY. ONE TRILLION DOLLARS OF SS FUNDS SPENT FOR MISCELLANEOUS-WARS, EDUCATION, ETC. We PUBLIC RETIREES ARE FACING BANKRUPTCY BECAUSE OF THIS TOTALLY DISCRIMINATING, EGREGIOUS, AND UNFAIR ACT. FIND THAT ONE TRILLION DOLLARS--IT BELONGS TO US WHO WORKED OUR ENTIRE LIVES, PAID OUR TAXES, AND DID ALL THE RIGHT THINGS. WHY ARE YOU BRUTALIZING US? DO YOU WANT MORE BANKRUPTCIES; IS THAT MORE BENEFICIAL TO GOVERNMENT THAN SS FAIRNESS? WE HAVE LOST THE QUALITY OF OUR LIVES AND PUSHED FAR BELOW THE WORKING CLASS. IT SEEMS THAT THE ONLY TIME WE MATTER IS AT TAX TIME AND DURING ELECTIONS. OF COURSE, ALTHOUGH WE ARE REFERRED TO AS ORDINARY, OUR MONEY IS STILL GOOD ENOUGH TO PAY YOUR SALARIES AND PROBABLY ALL THE OTHER PERKS YOU GET--DESIGNER CLOTHES, PRIVATE JETS, TAHITIAN PEARLS, ETC. TRADE LIFESTYLES WITH US FOR A MONTH SO YOU CAN REALIZE WE CANNOT AFFORD FOOD, MEDS, DENTAL, VISION CARE, MEDICAL. AND, THE CURRENT ADMINISTRATION DOESN'T GET IT. THE BIG QUESTION IS: WHY HASN'T OUR GOVERNMENT TRIED THE TRICKLE UP EFFECT? THE TRICKLE DOWN EFFECT HASN'T WORK AND NEVER WILL. REMEMBER, CONGRESS, YOU WORK FOR US--WE PAY YOU!! OBAMA'S MEASURES HAVE DONE NOTHING FOR US EXCEPT RAISE INSURANCE PREMIUMS, AND WE PAY HIM TOO!!

I planned my retirement based on what I would receive from the City of Los Angeles and Social Security. SS had sent me a form showing what I would receive and did NOT send me a notice that the amount had been reduced. After I retired, I discovered that I would have much less money than I had been promised for the rest of my life.

If you paid into Social Security during your working career, than you should be entitled to receive benefits accordingly.
