I've paid into social security for over 45 years. It is not just to take that away. This money was taxed independently.

I worked both in the business world and as a teacher paying into social security for over 20 years. I will retire from teaching before I have many years in due to age and it is only fair that I receive social security for all those years I paid in.

I am in full support of HR 235 and S. 484. I am one of the victims of WEP who, as a teacher, worked under both public retirement and social security systems, to build a sufficient retirement income.

The money I paid into Social Security was taxed independently from my pension, and should be paid out independently of money received from my pension! I am still working and paying into social security but will not reap any rewards

I have paid into SS for over 44 quarters and I should not have my pensions affected by the GPO.

My husband I paid into SS for 45 years. He passed away before he retired & didn't receive one dime of his SS. As I went to apply for surviving spouse benefits I was informed that 2/3rds of my public pension amount woud be deducted from the SS check. This totally wipes out the SS check. Zippo! I am told that this law was put into effect to prevent public employees from "double dipping"! Funny--double dipping was not considered as my husband & I double paid into the SS system for 45years. If I was a stay at home mom & never worked a day in my life & never contributed 1 penny into SS, I would be entitled surviving spouse benefits plus my husbands private pension! But, since I worked for the schools for a good portion of my life I am now penalized to the tune of loosing everything that we paid into SS. This is "re-distribution of wealth" at its best. Perhaps our 45 years of blood, sweat & tears is better spent in the hands of illegal immigrants.

I could not say do not to take out for social security. They did it. I was told it was for retirement benefits. Now I am told I will be penalized for 2 thirds of that amount. I just want enough to live on. We all need it. Please support HR235 and 484 Social Security Fairness Act

Why isn't this petition being signed by thousands of educators who are being penalized?

I am the wife of a retired police officer.I just had explained to me HR235/S.484 that if my husband passes I should be entitled to 1/2 of his pension check.....now I hear if I choose to do that, I would be expected to turn over 2/3rds. of my social security check which I earned after working 45 years! What does this have to do with my check? Something has to be done !

I paid into SS for 18 years in law enforcement. Then changed employers for another 18yrs who were not in SS. So now i LOSE 2/3 of my benefit due at age 66. Adding insult to injury my state wants to eliminate pension Cola and reduce current pensions!!!!!!!!

As a mid-career teacher, I have lost my entire 40+ quarters of SS paid in, and will lose all of my husband's SS because I decided to become a teacher! I always thought that teaching was a proud profession and deserved to be viewed that way. Even if I worked for 20 years as a teacher, I would still lose everything!

IF a person worked 26 years for the Gov't and 20 years paying ss why is he still being penalized 2 thirds of what is due to him

Being an educator in Tennessee....I paid social security for 15 years. I just moved to Ohio and have taught here for 3 years. They do not take out Social Security taxes.......I don't know what my situation is. I am 49 and I think I have completely messed myself up from reading these posts!

These teachers are teaching in the wrong states. The teachers I know do not have their SS reduced and receive full salary when they retire. How come no one complains about this?
