The United States must act immediately to help Ukraine by punishing Russia.
In 1994 Ukraine agreed to destroy its nuclear weapon arsenal, and to join the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT). In response the United States gave verbal guarantees of Ukraine's sovereignty.

To solidify security commitments to Ukraine, the United States, Russia, and the United Kingdom signed the Budapest Memorandum on Security Assurances on December 5, 1994. A political agreement in accordance with the principles of the Helsinki Accords, the memorandum included security assurances against the threat or use of force against Ukraine’s territory or political independence. The countries promised to respect the sovereignty and existing borders of Ukraine.

They failed.

Europe said it would never allow a tyrant to invade European countries again after the rise of Hitler and the terrors of WW II.

Europe failed.

As Ukrainian grandmothers are making Molotov cocktails, teenagers are holding weapons and ordinary citizens huddle in subways to hide from indiscriminate bombings, as thousands of refugees flee the carnage, the liberal democracies of the world continue to support Russia by buying petroleum from them. This must stop!

The United States should immediately stop importing any Russian oil and take steps to increase oil production to assist Europe during this crisis.
History will judge everyone assisting Russia in the harshest manner.
