I took one month of my own time after losing my daughter and it was barely enough to make the adjustment into a different life.REPORT COMMENTS

I believe death of a child should warrant additional time off. Right now, the death of a parent, child, or spouse allows 3 days of paid leave, but I've witnessed people needing more time than that to recover from such losses. We should be able to get the care we need to help us move on when someone that close to us leaves. A child especially since it is an unwritten rule that the parents go first. No one expects to outlive their children. Since the 12 weeks FMLA is unpaid, I doubt many will take the full 12 weeks at once if they need money, but it would help for those days where a person just can't come in because they are grieving so badly.REPORT COMMENTS
