My effects from this drug have worsened over 21 years. Not one dr can find anything ( and I have tried everything) to lessen the pain I have daily from head to toe. I have also had insomnia for as long. I just wished the medical community would address the problem that Lupron created for women and give me hope that I will someday feel better. I have spent a fortune looking for an answer and it robs the daily joy out of life.Jul 26th, 2014Someone from Rosedale, NY writes:
I had my first and last Lupron shot in January 2014 after my GYN diagnosed me with Adenimyosis (sp). I have one fibroid that causes my menstruation to flow in excess. He did tell me about the side effects but that it MAY occur not that it will. I did experience the hot flashes, dry vagina and a slight increase in weight. But I honestly didn't have any mood swings, suicidal ideations or depression. My period just came back today after that one shot I had and now that I'm reading this, I'm for certain that I would rather deal with my excess menstruation than to endure what most of you have endured. My heart goes out to everyone and I do hope that this is looked into by the FDA and although no amount of money can cure the side effects, we can be compensated for the pain and suffering whether temporary or permanent. God bless!REPORT COMMENTS

I had Lupron injections for 3 yrs. The side effects are debilitating, I fracture ribs by merely coughing. My last injection was 3 1/2 yrs ago , yet my side effects continue to worsen. I was prescribed Lupron as an estrogen suppressor, had an oopherectomy months after last injection. I wanted a hysterectomy to suppress the estrogen, but was advised to take Lupron. I honestly believe the FDA is one of the most corrupt organizations in the world. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia 10 months after my first injection. Someone needs to be accountable,. I feel like a guinea pig.REPORT COMMENTS

I am so glad this is being looked into. I have had a horrible time with this drug. Women with Endometriosis need a cure not a list of new problems.REPORT COMMENTS

I had Lupron treatment for endometriosis in 2009 and still suffer side effects while on no other medications to this day. I struggle with multiple symptoms that I never had until receiving these shots. Please research this and I am happy to see this petition and know that I am not alone! Thank you!REPORT COMMENTS

In 2005 I was tricked into taking Lupron by my OB/GYN. Despite my feelings around taking this medicine my doctor insisted it was the only way to stop the pain and progression of Endo. She convinced me that I would not be able to have a pain free future much less children if I did not take this drug at the age of 25. After a lot of coaxing and threatening she agreed to give me a one month shot. To my surprise when the bill arrived much later she injected me with a 3 month version of the shot. Like many others, I was immediately bedridden and extremely sick. I could not keep food down I was in an extreme amount of pain, I was having difficult thinking, speaking, and it took all the energy I had to get out of bed to use the restroom. I would fall down the stairs for no reason. My legs would give out just standing there and I have developed a hand tremor that has now grown into a full body tremor that never goes away. I complained to my doctor only to have her say ?stop being lazy and just get up and move you; because you will get used to it and the side effects will go away.? To my surprise she would not be the last person to say these hurtful things to me. After the first injection I immediately pulled myself off the medicine and refused care from that particular OB/GYN. Little did I know, taking that shot, which took less than a minute to administer, would encompass my life for the next 8 ½ years. I had no idea then that my side effects would become severe and a permanent part of my life. I have always know that Lupron has made me sick. I went from being an athletic, work alcoholic, who never slowed down to being someone that is barely able to function without being in pain every day of my life. I present as a person with MS or RA, but no one knows what in the world is wrong with me. I have been to a lot of doctors and all of them throw their hands up when the tests they run come up negative. I have and continue to search for a doctor to help me determine what went wrong and why that shot still plagues me almost 9 years later. If one doctor is not telling me I am crazy the other is telling me I just have chronic pain and refusing to help me. The worse part of all of this is every time I step into the doctor?s office I am reminded of how my life was ripped away. I am reminded of how doctors only know how to treat the test results. How doctors will prescribe a drug they know little about, but because they are paid to subscribe it. Mostly I am reminded every month of how the world now classifies me as a pain patient (aka drug seeker) that needs to be monitored for fear of addiction. For those that do not know it is almost impossible for a pain patient to get the meds they need anymore. We are bucketed into the same category as drug addicts, yet I can barely get a low dose vicodin prescription. The medical community would rather push you through the system and charge you instead of helping. I wish that someone would stREPORT COMMENTS

Roughly 8 years ago, I was on Lupron Depot for 18 months prior to having to have a Full Hysterectomy at the tender age of 22. My OB/GYN talked me into the Hysterectomy, saying that it was truly the only way to eliminate my Fibroids and Endometriosis. Since I had been on the Lupron for 18 months, I was suffering from SEVERE Depression and Suicidal Ideations. I had been in several Psychiatric Inpatient Programs during the 18 months that I was on Lupron, and was in NO position to make the decision to have the Hysterectomy. Now, I'll never be able to have my own children, and this could all have been avoided if I was never on Lupron. Also, I am not suffering from EXTREME Vitamin D Deficiency, a side effect from being on that horrid drug. I have broken more bones in the past 8 years than ever before, and my doctors don't know any other way to try to raise my Vitamin D levels except to put me on Fosamax...one pill a week for 8 consecutive weeks with more blood work when I've completed the course. Because of my Severe Vitamin D Deficiency and all of my broken bones, I am undergoing surgery tomorrow morning. If I had known ANY of the things that I just learned in the past 2 hours, I NEVER would have taken Lupron!!!REPORT COMMENTS

I took 3 injections of this terrible drug to shrink fibriods before my surgery. This drug sent me into the deepest darkest depression with all that comes with that territory including, paralizing anxiety, insonmia, extreme deificiency in Vitamin D, terrible hot flashes and being suicidal for months. I felt as though I was possesed. I couldn't think, I couldn't get out of bed or perform any daily tasks. I had to go on disability, was in an outpatient treatment program, and have spent hundreds of dollars out of pocket for therapy, acupuncture, and homeopathic treatment to try and get back on track. Now two years later at the age of 43 I am having perimenipausal symptoms, which I have NO doubt are connected to my 3 injections of Lupron. I have not felt myself since I took the drug. Lupron is not safe, does more harm than good and MUST be taken off the market.REPORT COMMENTS

After taking this drug for 18 months for endometriosis I had severe Migraines that sent me to hospital then to be diagnosed with degenerative disc disease after falling on behind and getting a herniated disc and brachial plexus injury which caused left arm paralysis for almost a year. I also have fatigue, low blood pressure, memory loss and tachycardia. I've always been healthy before this injection.REPORT COMMENTS

Did you know the directors of the FDA were ALL former heads of the big pharma companies before they took the job of being the head of the FDA. Then when they leave the FDA these men go back to being the highest level execs and CEO's of the drug companies. Don't believe me. Do the research. The FDA is not your friend. Seek out "integrative" medical practices if you want the best treatment.REPORT COMMENTS

Oh my goodness!! I'm sitting here in tears as I read these posts!! It's bitter sweet to find out that I'm not alone. I have only been on Lupron for 6 months but I'm already miserable. By the end of my day my feet, knees, hips are in so much pain...all I can do is get in the bed!! I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012, following surgery and treatment I was put on tamoxifen. But because of my complications with it, I was switched to Lupron! Not much better at all!!REPORT COMMENTS
