from a young age students should be educated on criminal justice. effects of getting arrested on a felony as in my case my first charge and only charge of a third degree. millions of people love and would die for their country and country men or women. I myself have longed for the option to join the military just serve my country and to fight for democracy worldwide. because the need for such a great soldiers are always high and needed. my father once told me, being a marines himself, that the best Marines in his time we're always in the brig and that is a military jail or prison. it's time to give first-time offenders or even small repeat offenders you're not serious crimes or violent crimes can be determined through dialogue, a chance to experience owner dignity and common purpose that will surely enhance their lives productivity and obligation to the United States of America and its interests. it can only work for the better. there are ways of removing such individuals from the military that might get in and act up or become a risk but that comes with all people not just offenders with records. I come from a long family line of people who have served in the United States military and it is outrageous and personally humiliating that I have been stripped of my right to serve in my country's Armed Forces. Daniel Wilson.

Some should be allowed a second chance at life. I understand not everyone deserves one and some have bumped their heads a lot. But those who are actually looking to become better in society should be taken in in my opinion.

I been training for the past year and I want to serve my country and im willing give my life for this country. Right now im 18 and its bad I cant serve my country and other people who are willing to sacrifice for the better of themselves and for this country. I understand the military dont wont criminals but these people want to change for the better and our Americans deserve second chances in life for past mistakes.

I am a felon. I commited forgery. However, I believe I still deserve my patriotic right to enlist into the armed forces. I go to college I have a great job working at a hotel. Upon my graduation I deserve the right to enlist.

As a conservative evangelical Christian I want to see men and women rehabilitated and become productive members of society. In Deuteronomy criminals where punished (not capital offenses of course) and then sent back to be productive in society. This should be a goal for the US. Let's help these people help make American an awesome country.

I am a felon. When I was 17 I got into a confrontation with somebody who was trying to take advantage of somebody close to me. I suffered from ADHD a bit so paying attention in school was a bit difficult but I managed. Drawing in A's and B's usually, the occasional C' when I struggled. ...I wasn't a hoodlum or young thug running the streets... I played video games with friends and enjoyed outings with my family. ...I cared about my friends and wasn't going to let some person harm them. I held a heavy martial arts background growing up and went on many outdoorsy type of trips with the family and friends. I am/was in no means weak. But even still, I attempted to tell the person to leave. That my friend was not going home with him. He didn't like that. But because he could afford a wonderful / magical lawyer, I ended up doing 8 months in a Detention facility and did 3 years of Formal Probation for this offence. For a fight I didn't start, and that he lost. = / Now days, 8 years later, I'm a college student looking into an bachelors degree while doing community service for the West End Animal Shelter. Even doing art on the side. But still, all I've ever wanted since I was a young one, was to be a Mechanic in the Military. To be a Soldier and fix things. To make things better. All I've ever wanted to do is stop complaining about things I don't like, and instead be a part of the giant working to fix those issues. But because I simply won a fight when I was 17, I can't join the Military. I've tried twice now at two different offices, my appeal for a waiver was denied both times. I'm never going to stop trying! There are at least 5 or more Recruitment Offices in Southern California. I hope I get in one day... I got till I'm 35 to keep trying.

People deserve a chance to better their lives. They should not be judged by the crimes they are convicted of.

At the very least, look upon these candidates on a case by case basis instead of automatically refusing everyone because of past transgressions. I don't blame people for thinking that felons don't deserve a chance to serve because we've shown that we have the capacity to makemake bad decisions. Everyone is capable of making a mistake. Some got caught, some got lucky and very few are perfect. Some of us are salvageable. Some of us are trustworthy. Some of us can prove that we are worthy of this honor. This will sound crazy to some, and others will know exactly what I'm talking about when I say that I met and ran with some of the best, most solid people I've ever met while locked up. At least give us a look and don't assume we're not worth it.

I personally am a multiple felon that has served alot of my freedom behind bars. Then when released and try to find a job, people look at you and treat you like a animal or a person eho has commited a terror attack... I would love to join the military and better myself so people would stop looking down on me... I have been on my own since the age of 14 and the only thing i knew was what I was taught for survival and got in trouble and try to deal with probation and if you dont have the support and money to pay you find yourself back behind bars and even if you find a job you wont be abled to keep because you have officers who wont you to take off or leave your job just to sit and sign a paper... I have had a officer to tell me they dont care if I eat or not but I better pay my probation fees or be locked back up... So question whats does a person do to try not to go back, I'll tell you commit another crime and pray you dont get caught...As a felon and knowing how it feels to go through this struggle we need a chance to show that with us joining the military would better us , discipline us, and support our USA

I can see felons being denied extremely sensitive military positions perhaps. However what's the harm in allowing them to serve in the infantry or as a mechanic or many other occupations within the military? Give them a chance to redeem themselves! Maybe have a more stringent set of rules for them to follow or have them serve a probationary period!
