Not every person is there mistake, mistakes dose not make that person or persons bad, the mistakes are not the individual and we can not keep pushing people back into things, without giving them a second chance and for some more then a second chance, we need to help them and prison is not always the answer sometimes prison make it worse sometimes, we have to find a better way, military school with programs to help them work thru problem, some are just trying to find there way and find there place, we must help people do that and find there worth, I believe this will solve not all but a lot of our problems in America thank you -

I was convicted of a non violent felony did 7 months county. Paid my debt to society and not a crime since. Yet I'm still doing time. Jobs are hard to come by. At least the ones that pay well. Can't join the millitary because of a felony? I believe the millitary should say if you did time (less than a year ) you should be allowed to join after 5 year cleanse. We all know that these emails or post won't change anyone's mind up in the government but maybe the next generation of politicians will listen.REPORT COMMENTS

I am stronger than I have ever been and ready to join forces and this is what looks like a dead end on my dreams. I have been through things that have made me a stronger person, and even more fit for the opportunity/job mentally, emotionally, and physically. By the grace of God may I live my dream!REPORT COMMENTS

I myself do not have a felony, but my boyfriend does. I talk to him about the Military all the time because that has been my dream to serve for our country; the other day I was talking about the Army and he said to me that he wished he would have done that. He has a felony for PWI (Possession with Intent to sell), he is now 21 and received that charge when he was 19. I feel as though drug related offenses shouldn't discriminate felons from wanting to join the Army/Military. Truthfully, that would make them want to change their life. It teaches them discipline and other alternatives for life instead they are being forced to not be able to better themselves due to their record. Now if you have a felony murder etc, no I do not believe that that felon should be allowed to enlist truthfully.REPORT COMMENTS

I am a convicted felon myself, I commited my crimes at 19 years old, my dreams was to actually join the military or police force, obviously I messed that up and wish I could take it back, but I can't I feel I did however better myself as much as I could getting my diploma, and keeping a job but I still want to server my country with a bigger purpose, I want to feel like I am actually doing something I don't know how far this will go but I still have my dreams to.REPORT COMMENTS

I think if you have missed your time limit because of a felony and plenty of time have passed being allowed to join the army would be great. I made a mistake years ago and wish I could join now at 38.REPORT COMMENTS
