I’m currently on probation for selling 28 gs of marijuana which is a felony. And I have another felony for residential burglary. I would do anything to get into the marines. I’m trying so hard to better myself and I don’t care what it takes but I need this in my life. I’ve quit everything and I’m working a regular job and I want to achieve my dreams and goals. I’ve done some stupid things in the past but it should’nt reflect what I want to do with my future. If anybody could help me with this I would do anything and bust my*****harder than anybody else in the military.REPORT COMMENTS

I strongly agree. Everyone deserves A second chance. Especially; if one was in the wrong place at the wrong time. I see individuals being able to become better individuals by joining the Army. Its basically what they need to get away from their past, and to have A brand new start.REPORT COMMENTS

Some people having a felony don't mean that they're a bad person that wants to go and fight for their country they probably are better off getting someone with a felony because they have more chance of defending their countryREPORT COMMENTS

I support this all the way because I always wanted to be a marine since I was a little kid but couldn't because of my juvenile past. They wouldn't even let me join when I showed them that I change my life and got my GED and my associate degree . So if they really pass this I'm in there most definitely because I got alot to prove. I'm going to give it my all and make a career out of it.REPORT COMMENTS

I tried to join the navy, after my mom died, in 1979. They denied me because of a juvenile felony. I tried to do this, cuz I knew where I was headed, and needed help. After denial, I was convicted of new felonies, and sent to prison. My life was on hold for 3 years. Now, I still love my home, and IDIOTS are trying to give it away. I don't blame them for this, mostly because they're naive. They don't understand that Islam has been teaching "death to America", for AS LONG AS WE'VE BEEN A COUNTRY!REPORT COMMENTS

My son got in with the wrong crowd in high school. He was arrested of an aggravated assault charge when he was 17 convicted when he was 18. He was raised by a military step father and always pretended to be a soldier as little boy. He would be an excellent soldier and so badly wants to enlist. His aggravated assault he never touched anyone. Never hurt anyone. Negligent in his actions? Yes. Just a kid?. Yes. Deserves another chance? Yes. Too bad military doesn't look into this because they are missing out on an excellent assert he could be to our military.REPORT COMMENTS

It was my dream as a child to be United States from rain. But I was barred entry due to a few minor charges on my juvenile record which occurred when I was 14 for bringing a having a Swiss army knife at school. And in my early twenties I got caught shoplifting a couple times but in the State of Florida 3 misdemeanors constitutes a felony. Because of those reasons I am completely barred from joining any of the armed services even though my last defense was almost 8 years ago and in any other state would be considered a petty misdemeanor that's exactly what it was the name of the charge is petty retail theft. I believe that allowing felons the second chance to rejoin the military, Granite their charges are not sex charges or extremely violent charges, would be a step in the right direction towards Justice and equality for all Americans. We need to let these men and women have that second chance to prove that they are worthy and not just second-class citizens. And until we do so we are creating a full-fledged generation of embittered, and Angry Young American men and women who have nothing to look forward to in their life as far as career options because of their criminal records. It would be great to Institute of program of clemency based on military service. Meaning if you serve a full four-year contract with the United States military that your record be completely expunged and or pardoned. Not only would that open up so many doors of opportunity to these young men and women within military career, but after serving their country faithfully and with honour, if they chose to go and return to the private sector of employment they would no longer have the stigma of being labeled a felon and could actually get a decent job or career or further their Education and Training.REPORT COMMENTS

Everyone should have the opportunity to serve their country...even those who have made errors in the eyes of the law. The military is the greatest tool we have as a civilized society to rehabilitate those who have crossed a line and desperately want to get a clean start. I believe the military will provide greater guidance than parole or probation could EVER offer.REPORT COMMENTS
