I think maybe a lot of our drug dealers are in the DEA??? Am I wrong for assuming this??? I will say this I am just fed up fed up with politics and for them to decide without a license mind you what is good for us and what is not good for us!!! I guarantee you if one of them was in the same predicament that any of us was in it would go the other way!! As I said before the doctors went to school to get their license you are illegally telling them how to treat their patients are you serious??? How dare you!! I'm starting to think that we need to get a class action suit against all of you and file it ASAP because you have no right whatsoever to tell us what we can and cannot do with our bodies. Although I would not stoop to heroin but you might want to look at the doctors that have you on fentanyl patches wake up that is what they put in heroin not our medication!!! But I'm thinking this is about all we're going to be able to do is go with a class action suit against all of you for ruining our lives allowing us to be able to function in life it also States first Do no harm!! I guarantee you also that if it was any of your children or your parents grandparents that none of you would be saying this unless they're already is some that are and they're getting what they need which is very very unfair!!!

I just wish EVERY PERSON in the DEA would just live about 1 month with in ALL OUR SHOES!! Then they can SEE what kind of SEVERE PAIN we deal with on a daily basis. Maybe then (and ONLY then) would they question whether or not they should target physicians who treat pain patients. I LIVE with Fibromyalgia, Severe Interstitial Cystitis, Severe Adenomyosis, Severe Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (I think from SO MUCH pain not allowing me to sleep), Osteoarthritis, Chronic/Late Stage Lyme Disease, Degenerative Arthritis in my Cervical Spine and Lower Back, 4 bad discs in my Lower Back, Spinal Stenosis in my Cervical and Lower Back, and Bone Spurs in my Lower Back along with a Disc that is completely blown (no cushion). I suffer SEVERE DEBILITATING PAIN and my doctor WILL NOT prescribe me ANY MORE pain medicines EVEN though I have begged so that I can just SLEEP. I cannot do ANYTHING with my kids or my husband because I am in TOO MUCH PAIN!! My husband and my kids are suffering. My kids have NO MOM, because I am on the couch (recliner at that because I hurt to bad to sit in a regular couch) ALL DAY LONG. I am TIRED of laying/sitting ALL DAY LONG!! STOP punishing those of us in REAL SEVERE PAIN for those person that abuse drugs. PLEASE!!!!

An RN for 25+ yrs..:..this will do nothing to stop "opioid abuse", it will increase suiside rates and potentate the heroin market....did the government learn nothing from prohibition? This will increase gang violence and further erode the face of America. Maybe we should be asking why the government wants to promote the heroin trade?

After many years of being on pin meds I am shocked by the things that are going on and as a patient I am also having issues with doctors that I have never had in the past! The new laws are outrageous and my docs assure me it is the government doing it so as an older person I see the future as a no win for me and my kind! The docs are all freaking out over it and cutting folks off of meds that have kept them alive for many years now. The folks using these meds are now being profiles and played like sitting ducks>>>There is no winners here thats a fact! Everybody loses except the government who has turned the whole world against us so in the end it all ends in death to be frank!

Chronic pain due to degenerative disc disease in my neck and back with bulging disc and cracks in my neck. I also have fibromyalgia and very very high anxiety. Everytime I go to the doctor or the pharmacy I'm treated like a criminal! my doctor is constantly scolding me and I'm completely taking everything as directed. My problem is I can't function very well on the logos that she gives so I cannot participate in hikes in things that that she tries to get her pain patients to go on. Maybe one or two show up and they usually from what I hear can't make it the whole way. I'm constantly being scolded by her and have trouble getting my medication from the pharmacy because they are always out of stock for some reason. Just last week my pharmacist told me the truth. The DEA is cracking down so hard that pretty soon pharmacies aren't going to have any of the medication at all even if your doctor prescribes it. I cannot live like this and I know others can't either. My life is in Decay and I need help!

its barbaric the way pain patients are treated. we treat animals better. people die from cigarretes and alcohol every day, but we sell them legally to anyone that wants some. do those things help anyone? no, but pain meds do a TON of help, when nothing else does. if someone wants to do drugs and get high thats their choice. what does that have to do with those of us who need the meds for pain? we are taking the punishment for the few that choose to abuse

I want to know what we can do about the horrible way chronic pain patients are being treated. Long waits for pain clinics and pain doctors, horrible accusations, threats, blackmail, it's the most terrifying thing I've ever seen. I have friends who have been in accidents and are permanently disabled and are still able to go on and live normal lives as long as they are able to manage their pain. They all have had their pain medication cut or taken away as punishment or "incentive" to do expensive procedures or medications that are worse then the pain medication. NONE of these people are addicts. I'm terrified that the pain will become too much for them to handle and they'll commit suicide. They'd rather do that than turn to illegal drugs. I'm also terrified to need pain management myself in the future. I know how physically draining and emotionally debilitating pain is. WHAT CAN WE DO? Who should we be directing our concern, our anger toward? How can I help my friends RIGHT NOW?

I was recently told by my np that I violated my pain contract by going to the dentist haveing a tooth pulled and getting 8 norco I was 2 days from being out of my primary cares rx. I asked for a copy of my drug contract 2 times an never received a copy. She seem to have it in for me from the start she looked at months past drug screens. And brought up dis ripeness in them once even gave me 45 nor instead of the usually 90. She simply said I'm sorry sir but you violated your drug contract I can give you non narcotic pain meds I had to remind her I was in icu an told never use them again so then she told me to take Tylenol said my pain must not be to bad cause I hadn't been in for 2 months I told her I was trying to do without pain meds but it wasn't working she's a snotty moo cow who refused my valid reasons an expects I'll be back only to get my medical records did she have the authority to cut me off my pain rx when your peeing in a cup they are busy looking you up on their computer. I wasn't dr shopping I wasn't stock pilling I did nothing wrong my dentist isn't always there an after a tooth extraction did not want to end up in pain. But I will not see a dr who can't or won't treat my pain it's my right to request this as much as or more than their right to deny it screw people who lie to them it comes with the territory and they can't be sued or prosecuted if they have medical test to back up there reason for useing an opiate. ****ed off in Indiana one of the most back ward states in the union and how did the war on pain clinics go just as I predicted people would turn to heroin and dropp like flys I can't wait to see there answer to this apparently longer prison sent aces which will cause taxpayers a fortuttune to house addicts in prison real drug dealers handle their product as little as possible and never makes the rounds of users....

I've been on pain management for over a year and have been taking Temazepam for sleep only at night for 6 years. I was told that if he saw that I filled my prescription for the benzo again he would not prescribe any more for pain. The pain meds have made little difference over time because he refuses to prescribe an amount above my tolerance because I had history of opiate abuse. He switched my drugs a couple months ago from oxycodone 20 4x a day to MS Contin 15 mg. 3x a day and I began having ischemic strokes causing physical disabilities brought on from the migraines from discontinuing the oxy. He doesn't even realize that I would most likely die from discontinuing the Temazepam. The last time I had a year detox off of benzo's and nearly died. Is there any recourse I can take.

I suffer from Chrinic pain, a spine disability and I have to drive 1-2 hours to a physician for pain management. I am on a fixed income and this effects my budget every month. The very audacity of government telling primary care physicians what they can prescribe and what they can not prescribe is an infringement on a patients rights. The majority of people at this pain management clinic are young people. They still obtain their prescription narcotics because addictions will always find a way to get what they need for a habitual drug habit. So people who really need this treatment are punished by long drives, more gas expense and a host of other financial problems

The DEA should be concerned with illegal drugs from the black market and narcotics that are illegally obtained! Whats the point of going to the doctor to get pain relief from very real pain patients suffer if they're going to be treated like junkies? I'm 23 and have 4 herniated discs in the lumbar. I got them by being over worked working at DTW airport for 4 years as a ground handler, basically being the last line of defense between airplanes and terrorist. I was told by two doctors they didn't want to help me long term, basically, because I would get addicted to pain meds (opiates) and become a junkie. Well if the stupid NSAIDs and OTC meds worked, I wouldn't have a problem. There went my dream of joining the Navy as well. I was given false hope by the pain mngt doc and physical therapist that the discs could heal. The head of neurology of Oakwood said "You're SOL", basically. Because the DEA has such a damn strong grip over doctors and prescriptions, I can't get the pain relief I need to work and be confident socially that I wont be in pain. If those guys knew what it was to suffer in pain every waking moment of their life, they wouldn't blink twice about taking narcotics from the evidence stash, which undoubtedly they do. It's no secret. Or else there would be changes. All of the higher ups get whatever they want, meanwhile the backbone of America, the real reason this nation functions, has to bear it and grin because there is no other choice other than suicide. Here's to my 4 herniated discs, spinal stenosis, spinal column fissure, and whatever else wants to keep me down!

I have NO history of opiate addiction or abuse. NOONE should suffer this much pain. My quality of life is GREATLY diminished, as well as my social life.

Unfortunately I am both a pain patient and a Physician Assistant. I say that unfortunately I am both a patient and a provider because I am not proud how my colleagues treat those in pain....I no longer have my pain adequately treated despite having 10+ years of adequate control before the CDC recommendations were released. Those recommendations were released for "Primary Care Providers", but even pain management providers are using them now. I live in northern NH where doctors do not believe in treating pain adequately. I was actually told to suffer, use marijuana, and that I was going to be "miserable" the rest of my life by an "expert" doctor in the area because I suffer from arachnoiditis likely from too many procedures to avoid taking pain medication in the first place. I have nightmares about my pain not being treated and I live from month to month wondering if my pain will be controlled next month. I struggle daily, go to therapy to help with the emotional roller coaster only to be judged by the whole world about how bad my pain is or isn't. I do believe that many will start committing suicide. The options for patients are too few, if available at all anymore. Prior to today I was actively engaged full time in working for 10+ years and enjoying it while being a productive member of society. Now, I fear that I will be forced to stay home and collect disability. Is that what the government wants? Is that what our community wants? Thank you DEA for screwing up my life and my career by not allowing appropriate pain control.

Unfortunately, the addicts and doctor shoppers, Big Pharma's agenda ( For example, Purdue Pharmaceutical and it's billion dollars plus in annual revenue generated from the sale of OxyContin alone) and the fear of doctors instilled by the watchdog DEA (misguided by the recent statement from the CDC advising that chronic pain sufferers should not be prescribed opiod meds on a continual basis) is creating a power vacuum for opportunistic doctors looking to make money in a more legitimate way via a specific surgical procedure. The spinal cord stimulator is big money. A doctor can no longer pull in revenue from repeat business on a very addictive, consumable product, so the next best money maker is going to be surgical installation of a device that will be costly and may or may not work. Sounds like a solid plan to me..... And,It is NOT a good time to be physically dependent or addicted to narcotic pain meds. Fortunately, I am neither, but that is by the grace of God and not by the hand of the law and unscrupulous doctors. First do no harm? Really? It's a crock. Wake up America and plant an herb garden or start a secret grow room but don't depend on ANY doctor trained in western medicine to have your best interests at heart. There is no "whole patient" anymore when the sum of it's parts is exponentially more profitable.

For the last 10 years I have been a horrible pain. The pain is in my face and in my right foot. I feel like most days it's an effort to even think about getting up and going and doing anything. I set at home 24 hours a day hardly do anything. It is life dependent on what I will do for the day based on the intensity of the pain. I'm tired of living a life in pain and if it wasn't for my pain doctor I'd be dead. One person in my life that has kept me from committing suicide and it is my pain doctor. He has worked his butt off to make sure I'm not in so much pain mostly using blocks and some medication. But now the DEA office is after him. the man is honorable by the books dedicated physician. You have to go through hoops and Bounds to get medicine from him he doesn't give it to everybody. the town where he practices pain medication management has basically ran out two other pain doctors for the same trumped-up charges. SO my question to you is, if they are not going to let doctors practice medicine anymore without persecuting them for providing pain control. Then please assisted suicide legal we shouldn't have to live in this kind of pain is not as life is not worth living for any person or creature.

If something isn't done soon, the suicidal rates will rise substantially. I know I've had more than a dozen episodes ending up in the ER begging for relief and not getting it. I was very suicidal and now I'm dealing with a "Pain Management" doctor who wants to put me on morphine. He's a legal drug pusher. I only want to be on percocet because it's not as addictive and I've managed it for 30 years but he wants me to be addicted so I have to keep going back. My appointments last about 5 minutes after waiting for 2 hours with people that I know are addicts and aren't dealing with excruciating pain but he's making a lot of money. I did a quick calculation and estimated he's making about $1500 an hour! What a business. I'm not going back to him and seeing if my neurologist can prescribe what I need because I don't belong in a "pill mill". Unfortunately, I'm the real deal. I have trigeminal neuralgia and have to live with it.

Due to being underdrugged with narcotics I am looking to other non medical ways to get real help. I have broken my back and neck and have developed arachnoiditis and meralgia parenthetica due to scar tissue from 3 back surgeries. I am sick of doctors being told by the government what they are allowed to do. My GP isn't allowed to treat me and he knows me best but the government has intervened with that ad well. Pain Clinic is forcing spinal stimulator and MORE $300 injections each time ! They are supposed to be horrible for people with my problems but I have to play dumb just to get the minutiae of the narcotic!!! Drug dealers are probably have more compassion and common sense

I had 3 lower back surgeries past 20 years and let me tell yeah about how many family doctors and pain doctors I have seen?! After family doctors can't see patients with back problems anymore.I was referred to a pain doctor talking about getting bullied the first hour was none stop you need this Stimulator in your back. Then you get your medication and you have your life back until it's time to go back to Pain Doctor.Wow this time was 1/2 hour abuse with Stemulator. When you say know to them they dropped your pain medication down where you suffer! When you go back to pain doctor it's like you seeing the DEVIL knowing going abuse you with a treatment. Pain Doctors push there Nurse Practitioners on you getting Stimulators then Nerve block then tigger points. When you tell them know they get mad (why) because they aren't making know money off you !! Lets break this down Johnson Stimulators are $17.000 dollars just for that and pain doctors get a cut from that.THEN he does the surgery on you putting the stimulator in your back(cost) $10.000 on top of that. Nerve root shot cost $ 1500 for a 2 minute shot see where I'm going with this!!!! After you been through this and Back Doctors tells you know more nerve blocks cause we can see holes in your back with the MRI films.Doctors know the pain Medication is best for you but you have to make them money first!!! I have my medication but every time I go back for a refill gotta fight with them pushing stuff onto you.Good Luck, Back Pain Sufferers!!!!

Unreal!!! My life has been a living HELL since 1989 . I was 21years old and a minor surgery and negligence by the hospital caused an incurable abdominal disease. I had my 33rd surgery on August 29th and on September 3rd I went back in septic shock and almost died.Right now I'm starting to wish I had. I've been taking two 30mg oxycodone every 4 hours for the last two years since I had a 3 disk fusion on my neck. They don't make a higher dose than 30. My dr added Percocets 7.5 325's just for the surgery. I had the whole front of me cut wide open and it was the first time that I had ever cried from pain after a surgery because my tolerance was,is high. Suddenly I get a call from my dr of 4 years and he's jumping all over my*****because w/ their new E scribing system I've been having the pharmacy send him a request for my scripts 5to7 days ahead of time so that they are on file at the pharmacy. Also I have Medicare and they allow 6 days leeway if u need to get them a day early, but if u use the 6 days if better have them put aside because they will make u wait 6 days when the sixth one is used. I don't get them early at all so when my script came in 5 days early, the pharmacist filled it. I got so upset with them and of course my dr saw it and that's what set him off. He cut me down to 6 ,30 mg oxycodone. I am in so much pain,my body feels broken. I've also got degenerated disks all throughout my spine, artheritus and a very large broken tail bone. What the **** is wrong with these idiots?? It's simple,if you go to a dr for pain meds and there is nothing wrong with you, that can be seen or documented, then they shouldn't give you ANYTHING!! Saying your back hurts shouldn't cut it. Whose back doesn't hurt!! I want to LIVE my life, not just EXIST!! SHAME ON ALL OF YOU *******S TH?AT GET THEM AND SELL THEM!!! To all the dicks that do,i pray something happens to you and you actually need them and can't get them!

Keep voting Democrats in office. With their big government and lust for power and control this will only get worse. I feel your pain and I hope all of you are able to get the care you rightfully deserve. Good luck!

Nobody should have to live a life in pain. Instead of running a witchhunt on prescribers look into the changing the dispensing method. No more little plastic bottles but recyclable / reuseable safe like dispensers that communicates through a cellphone connection with the physician and pharmacy and dispenses as prescribed by the physician.

I wish you never have to live one day with arachnoiditis it destroys your life your hope your family you lose friends because they don't understand that's hard to find doctors that are trained for handling it and understanding it. But they should go to training to do it to you they trained spinal surgeons but I bet they never talk about the arachnoiditis. I wish you all well but also wish you had compassion for the pain patients and what we go through.

I think what does DEA is doing to Dr is completely wrong I have been on pain medicine for 9 years my doctor Jean bouquet was stripped of his license he was one of the best doctors I have ever had I submitted to urine analysis any time he asked me I never abused my medicine the DEA needs to stay away from our health care if they have no business from it! they think by taking pain patients off of their medicine is going to fix the heroin epidemic now it is going to make it worse.. I live in Denver Colorado a stock that needs to be put to this immediately and my doctor needs his license back
