We have considered moving several times to improve my husband's career. What is stopping us? The fear of not being able to find another doctor willing to take over my CRPS, and resulting pain medication, treatment. Too many doctors will no longer take on chronic pain patients. What are we supposed to do? What if our doctor retires? Well, surely if a person has a legitimate reason for pain medication then they can find care, right? Not if the doctor is concerned about how many people he is helping. Oh, I guess I have to specify "people in chronic pain ". After all, we aren't really being treated like other patients, now, are we?REPORT COMMENTS

All you need to do is get a group of people together and take our lives back from unjust govt and afraid doctors. Enter a court house while being video taped and news media is around. Take a gun in or a knife in and ORDER the officers on duty at the search post to STAND DOWN by means of they are manning an unconstitutional post by searching any individual upon entering a United States Court House by the people for the people. Inform the officer that you are within your constitutional rights to enter A COURT with a WEAPON based on the 2nd ammendment and Inform the officer that you are not allowed to search your person without a warrant as the constitution states and just because you enter a court house means nothing. IN FACT the officer needs to be arrested because they are following unlawful orders by stripping you of your rights upon entering a court house... This is the one place on EARTH that your rights matter most and by taking away your free speech, your weapon and searching you just because you came in the door this is showing that the courts are simply unjust places and Lady Justice is certainly BLIND because she doesnt see shit! Arrest the officer on Federal charges of Title 18 USC Color of Law and Conspiracy against rights and Also arrest them on obstructing Justice by not adhering to the constitution and protecting it as they took an oath to do.REPORT COMMENTS

I am a chronic pain sufferer myself. Have been for 30+ years. What is happening now to people who have chronic pain is INHUMANE. NOBODY DESERVES TO BE MISTREATED LIKE THIS. What's going to happen when the pain comes to you one day and you need help? Imagine any one of your loved ones suffering in pain 24/7. You wouldn't want to see that happen, no one does. Why are we, as chronic pain patients targeted? It's just not fair. Go after the real drug addicts on the streets. Most people who have chronic pain take their pain medication as directed. We do not double dose or take it to get high. He'll, sometimes it doesn't even touch our pain when it gets to be so high. This really disturbs me, that in this day and age, that medication that is their to help us is being taken away from us. Do something about the addicts on the street. Find some way to help them . Build proper facilities where they can truly get the help they so desperately need. The ones you have now are a joke. They do drugs right in the centers. Take care of the hermon, coca inexpensive and methods addicts. Leave legitimate chronic pain patients alone. We suffer enough! You are just going to see one suicide after another after this is all done and said. People are dying from not getting proper care. Do you people have a heart attack all?REPORT COMMENTS

I am not malingering, I am not a doctor shopper and I am not a drug seeker. I am a patient of intractable pain. My pain never goes away. I have lived with it 24/7/365 for ten years now. I tried to kill myself once the pain was so bad. I was in agony. I was on opiates but at a dose that still wasn't controlling my pain. It took at least three years to get to the point where they pain was to the point that I could do SOME things. I have pain everywhere from the back of my head at the top of my neck down to the ends of my toes. I have bone, muscle, and skin pain. My body feels like its on fire at its worst, even to the point of burning up inside, too. My muscles, at their worse, feel like they are twisting and tearing. My bones. at their worst, feel like someone is hammering a long rod into the long bones in my arms and legs, right into the marrow. I scream WHY Lord? sometimes into the night. Even though I've been on opiates for about eight of the past ten years, I'm still in enough pain daily to bring me to my knees. That's pain control for me. I'm in bed more than I'm out. I can only minimally clean, and live on yogurt and cereal because I can't stand in one spot for too long in order to cook. I used to work as a RN. Now I am disabled: my life has completely changed, and I've lost everything. My career, my children because they don't know what to make of it, my husband because he left me after I got sick for another woman. I'm alone, in pain, disabled and only want some relief. I moved from one state to another after the divorce. I had to move in with my disabled mother. Its just the two of us, but it might as well be just me because she is 83, mildly demented, handicapped and mentally ill. I am supposed to be cleaning her house and caring for her, but since my doctor took away some of my opiates in response to the new laws, I am hardly able to get out of bed each day. I am not cleaning except occasionally. I try to cook one hot meal a day for mom. Luckily for me, mom has been someone who likes to lay in bed anyway. So at least that way, I can lay in bed, too. I make sure she eats twice a day but I can barely eat. I don't want to eat in while I'm in this much pain. I asked my doctor today to please give me my third dose of morphine back. I've been taking three doses since the beginning. As it is, he had already taken away some of my medication from what my first doctor in the other state gave me. I reminded him that I take care of my mother. He remembered. I told him that if I couldn't take care of her and her house properly that my brother would put her in a nursing home (but he doesn't help out at all) and I would be homeless. I only get barely 1000 from social security each month. I can't live on my own on that. I have post polio syndrome with muscle fatigue that is painful. I have a degenerative spinal disease. I get radio frequency nerve ablation procedures every three months and steroid injections. But that only helps my lower back. I have peripheral neuropathy, quite severe. I'm on the maximum of Neurontin for that, but it doesn't help it all, and my feet are in so much pain all the time, and feel like I'm getting stung by hundreds of bees all at once. I was told in my 40s that I have advanced arthritis for my age. It is extremely painful on the joints and my spine. I've already had a hip replaced, knee surgery, and had a bone demolished by arthritis removed from my hand. I need a knee replacement and my other hip to be replaced. I have an immune disorder, and when I had my hip replaced, I ended up with both pneumonia and my right leg was bright red, shiny, as swollen as a boiled hot dog just before the skin splits. I felt my skin would split my leg was so swollen. It really hurt. Finally, after a week of tests for a blood clot, an ultra sound, an xray and circulation studies, they finally put me on a very strong IV antibiotic because they decided, after I had been telling them all week that I had cellulitis, that I had cellulitis. Brilliant. I can't live like this. No one should have to live like this. Its cruel. What is wrong with these people at the cdc?? Doesn't the law allow for people like me?? I asked my doctor about that but he said he doesn't want to flag his practice my putting me back on the meds I was on. Flag his practice?? Does the government have these doctors so scared that they don't care about the patient anymore?? I give up. My life is in ruins. My head is in ruins. But more than anything, my body is in PAIN~~damn it! PAIN!! God help me please!!REPORT COMMENTS

I want to add, as a BSN that was hurt at work, that I have been subjected to pain profiling since the start of the worker's compensation case, I was immediately labeled a drug seeker and as a result was treated with one narcotic dose for 3 1/2 yrs. Of course my body developed a resistance to it's effects and I begged for non-narcotic medications that targeted nerve damage. I was denied every time. After the 1st back fusion failed and work comp refused to pay that surgeon anymore, the 2nd was done by a Neurologist forced upon me by my attorney. I woke from that surgery of a 3 pin placement and removal of 2 disks with the same 1 Norco every 6 hours order that I had for the last 3 years as my pain order!! You can imagine the screaming that occurred as a result of such negligent pain control after digging in my spine for 4 1/2 hours. I was lucky enough to know my rights and demanded an ambulance take me to a hospital that will properly treat pain or get a pain doctor STAT. Within 3 minutes I was injected with morphine which would be appropriate given the surgery I had. I then fired my attorney that made me go to this surgeon and gained new representation. My surgery did not correct my pain in my right leg. The surgeon who was treating my right leg and back pain prior to this surgery suddenly wrote an order to go back to work, receive no more pain care for my right leg 4 months after that hellacious surgery. I am not even done with physical therapy yet. His statement was "the new findings are that pain medication lowers your pain tolerance". Yet he treated this pain prior to the surgery to correct the first failed fusion? Is this in retaliation because I fired his attorney friend that gave him referrals? Is his refusal to treat because he cannot profit from another surgery? Is this due to the new pushes for no narcotic use by the DEA? These are grave ethical breaches of do no harm to your patients and I am filing with the AMA, JACHO, IDPH, and now each and every governing official I can find. I will continue to speak of this injustice to true patients in need of help for a quality of life. The CMA rules do give a model in which physicians can safely justify the use of narcotics but it is so involved and frankly, due to the new Obama Care, physicians do not have time to perform all that the CMA wants for each of these patients. I urge Congress to involve themselves and streamline this so those in true need of a quality of life, like myself, can have a quality of life. I may just be the nurse treating you and if my attention is on the pain I suffer, I may make a grave mistake in YOUR care. DEA should concentrate on the street users and not on the true needs of patients. We are suffering and being stereotyped as soon as we enter the pain arena. How many suicides are happening to escape this pain? How many mistakes are being made at the work place because our mind is on our pain that has cost the life of another employee? A chain not properly secured on a beam for iron workers, a medication mistake that stopped the heart of somebody's family member, or the wrong sequence of safety steps that cost the life of a nuclear plant employee? Act now to give us our lives back.REPORT COMMENTS

Heres something the dea and all the others responsible for taking chronic pain patients meds away. U wanna curve the addiction rate. When someones arrested for drug use or ambulance is called for a od. Give them their narcan to save them and instead of releasing them from hospital so they can go right back out and abuse. Make it mandatory to go to rehab then make it mandatory that each month they get a shot of vivitrol. Its a med that blocks opiates. Make them get that shot every month for a year. If they miss then jail. Everything i read is stop addiction. But i seen it so many times they give narcan at hospital and the addict leaves the hospital with no repercussions. I been suffering chronic pain for 20 yrs. i tried everything you can name. I was ready to give up until my pcp sent me to a pain specialist that cared. We tried a few different things that didnt work then opiates were tried. They were my last resort. I never in 20 yrs asked for opiates or increases. If it werent for them giving them a try i probabally woulda have gave up cause chronic pain took everything from me. My job, my quality of life and dang near my relationship. They gave me a quality of life. So why would i abuse something that saved me and have it taken away. Well even though i never abused my meds there just about taken away. That was a time of my life i dont want to go back to. But unless people dont start listening that chronic pain people arent the abusers im headed back to that life i dreaded. I hope someone would open their ears and listen to people begging for mercy. That chronic pain is not a joke. Its a life destroyer. Help the addicts but dont kill the real sufferers the chronic pain people from denying them their meds.REPORT COMMENTS

Hello! We'll call me Elizabeth for this. For the last 20 years, even longer to tell you the truth, but they thought I was to young to suffer from chronic pain which later was diagnosed as Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue, I still suffer from these as well as disk problems in my neck and back. I also suffer from chronic pain due in my left leg, I spiral fractured both my Fibula and Tibia. After a year of the Tibia, which is very close to my ankle, I had surgery where they took bone from my hip to fill in the gap and then put in a plate and 8 screws. So with the already Fibromyalgia, I was both in a wheel chair and crutches for over 2 years while I healed. I have chronic pain with severe muscle spasms all over my back, neck and calves, and shoulders (upper). I'm always hurting and yet I know from past treatment before they made it impossible to get the correct treatment, what works for me medication wise as well as a doctor that worked with teaching me certain stretches to work with the medicines. I just don't understand why for the love of Pete they are making us suffer now. I've been in so much pain that at 42 years old I considered using the one thing I never thought in a billion years I could and that was Heroin!!! I haven't and didn't, but what are severe pain sufferers to do. HELP, SOMEBODY. Thank You! Many Blessing! In the last 6yrs I been having chronic back pain & 3 times I have tried to get info from 3 different Dr. to try to find out what is causing these horrible back spasms. Each time it's degenerative disc disease starting in my neck & each time it gets worse & now is in my thorax. As soon as you mentioned pain medication that you have taken in the past to treat the pain, that's when all concern stops. Seeing any DR.'s is a big waste of time & money. So I have to find other ways to treat my pain. Thanks for your article as I see it's not just me.REPORT COMMENTS

Now u want to completely cut off people that are really in need from a drug that makes pain bearable. Well that's just ********. Then instead of declaring marijuana legal and letting people use it for pain, instead the DEA doesnt change its classification and chooses to keep it On the list along side heroin. My husband is inoperable was told from top surgeon jefferson university. Then was sent to pm he looks great from outside never took anything but vitamins he went to hospital neck was stuck dr sent him to pm first year just epidural no medicine then was given 5 mlg percocet after a year was given liver test came back fine never in 10 years failed and tests then was written out for something that I never heard of we had no insurance at the time the drug store looked at me like I had two heads they told me the price i went to pm and told him we can not afford he said this is what he needs my husband believed this pm and his pain was finally livable that we had perscripion filled it was 120 30 milligrams if oxycodone ???? Well that's the day i lost a healthy minded under control positive husband along with my house cars and family and everything. Then prescription coverage came in well I thought we were going to be ok !!!!! Wow then he gave him 80'milligrams oxytocin along 30 milligrams of oxycodon then all the drug stores said didn't have looked at my husband and said he looked fine at the end of the day his back was so bad he would be in need of another shot....in his back was so exhausted i finally put on mail delivery which he never asked for more but i thought it was ruining him... after 13 years of this horrible process i had a husband that was still in excruciating pain. To top it off he has medicare and the doctor told him don't worry about the deductible we never received a bill... the pm also told him he knows his back is inoperable so complex that he was lucky not to be in wheelchair... so he started taking walks per pm said to do and he fell in hole but never asked for more meds now walking with cane and skinny and frustrated went asked for shot pm said laughed have him lawyer number. Then said to consult with his partner which I saw and i hate to say this his whole staff was looking like they were taking pain meds or drugs they were getting wrong files hollering getting confused really cursing the patients. Then all of the Sudden biller yes from Dr Glenn Miller Nova Care in south Philadelphia and biller never saw her Deborah weiss billed wrong bill came back i called medicare they asked if New biller? No they said she just had to fill out right well called her she cursed me went crazy made all accusations and told me come get file find new pm really i asked for my husband to have consult then they said he was trying to get in for more pain meds i have a report from company NEVER they didn't even know he was on mail delivery. They left him in anxiety till this day that's all he talks about tried every pm with paperwork in hand we didn't know what to do and i was not going to make him go to the street.... I had to go out he was sick and in pain in the ghetto and buy him pills kicker is from same doctor that kicked him out from guys sitting in bars drinking laughing doing cocaine and selling their pills from same doctor while my husband was laying in true pain never did a drug in his life. Now no pm is seeing him after being with other pm without one and now he is frustrated has panic attacks he is suicidal and crazy. Then i reached out to a methadone clinic which we had so called the guy on the phone said we can't take him he almost told me that I had to shoot him up with heroin and then he can go but he is a true inoperable he can't move i called psychiatrist they said go to crisis my husband refuses he is not an addict he did not do this to himself why was this pm dr make my husband an addict really????? Why is he allowed to take our lives away why isn't he responsible for me looking everything and i am sitting here with a suicide by cop husband. All the idea is doing is making the heroin and drug pushers richer.they are going to make people get more guns go out and the united states are going to be filled with real pain people looking it. It is not fair to do this they should be going to these drug pushers on the streets that are killing kids and people instead everyone is terrified so it's safer to go to ghetto o get meds???? With cancer and all other chronic pain..this is against the rights its an easy fix 1. Look at Mir, test, blood test if your paperwork says that you need then give but do med check instead of just billing and seeing 300patient a day to sit pretty . Instead they scare pharmacist true dr. And everyone elseDea should be out pain locking up real drug dealers getting guns off the and killing children because someone sold on their territory instead they givE DEA cushion jobs to bother doctors cancer patients back inoperable patients and all other diseases. This is against our right that a pharmacist has our medical records what about people with hiv are they suppose to blurt that out in a pharmacy in front of a thousand people we are getting all rights takin away little at a time look at Missouri he is protecting the right if freedom and liberty we are now not even a third world country at least they get in in their own back yard/ my husband is getting violent and is suffering withering away with no help truly bad and when and i hope that it don't come down to it he is willing to go out but not before his list of people pm doctors that did this to him I am looking for help but because Dea and all of our congress signed the bill they want to give vitamins lol if vitamins was the solution then why are they making a fortune billing insurance and living high off the hog while making our new doctors and pharmacy now the 16 year old kid with everything you need right in his pockets with no questions asked if i loose my husband then i could sue wow doctors are untouchable pharmacist are now over the doctors and th dea agents are sitting there with a cushion job of going after doctors and pharmacy while drug dealers now are making i ng the unclaimed money. I am h for taping every doctor they don't listen they don't care CASH IS KING and it's all the way to the top. If i loose my husband then he will just be forgotten but i will hopefully still be here to see that these pm doctors and all be put out of business be homeless no money nothing just like they did to thousands and just threw them out in the streets to die. Are rights have to be taken back who is going to do it these truly sick pain people have no energy they are in pain they are not going to be able to talk for themselves we need to help asap before this nation will be killing each other over one pain pill to feel normal...REPORT COMMENTS

I have fibromyalgia, a painful condition which I managed to live with without opioids for years. I was then referred for a foot surgery that I now know never should have been done to my sensitive nervous system. I made the very poor choice to trust my doctors, as I did have a great deal of foot pain due to neuromas which they said could be helped, and I had never heard of CRPS. It triggered a condition called Causalgia or CRPS, which causes a level of nerve pain rated just above the acute pain of amputation, yet it is chronic and never stops. Pain medication, while I have had trouble getting the ideal treatment due to this absurd crackdown on sick people, definitely doesn't cure anything, but can take the edge off and restore some function and quality of life. People like me who have never abused medication or anything else in their life deserve all available options, otherwise you will see a real epidemic, one of patients committing suicide in desperation because they were refused help. It has already started happening. Is that the society we want to be? Addicts usually get their drugs on the street. Most deaths have been due to counterfeit pills. Pills were over prescribed in the past and sometimes are over prescribed for things like a tooth surgery, but now chronic pain is most often undertreated. Please stop blaming and further hurting those in pain and doctors trying to treat them. Help those with addiction, treat their mental illness which is the real problem, the emotional pain they are trying to kill. Until that is helped, they will heartbreakingly always seek a new way to self destruct, while the rest of us suffer needlessly.REPORT COMMENTS
