Physicians should be allowed to treat their patient's pain withou fear of prosecution. Pain should not go untreated -

Where is the "quality of life" all of us should receive? Could YOU live very long dealing with "intractable daily pain"??? Why punish those that do everything they are asked of and then all of a sudden for no apparent reason, you are told through a cold letter from a physician you have known for years, I will no longer treat you... then will NOT explain or even speak to you or your family!!!! This is insanity!REPORT COMMENTS

To allow people to suffer so that the DEA can police a few unethical physicians is a travesty. There has to be a better way.REPORT COMMENTS

Our daughter suffers from severe chronic pain & fibromyalgia as a result of a car accident 10 years ago. After exhausting all other avenues, narcotic meds were her only option. These meds only relieve SOME of the pain. The pain has put a halt to her work toward a PsyD. Please do not lump pain med abusers in with those who have a legitimate need for pain meds. What would you do if it were you or your child?REPORT COMMENTS

I wanda Solano can relate to all the statements in this petition. I started with heel spurs in 2001 and Thank God it went away. After that my vertebras gradually starting hurting gradually, approximately 2 of them. Now in 2013 my entire skeletal developed osteo arthritis in the cervical spine. When I was 56 the pain management Dr. Told me I had scoliosis to my unbeknownst. I am 59 right now. I have tendinitis bursitis on my right shoulder, carpal tunnel in both hands. Tear meniscus on both knees. I endure excruciating pain in my lumbar area due to spurs on my left side and right side the elevates directly up my ribs. Sciatic nerves on my legs. Need I say more. It is so true how a human feels that they do not want to live anymore, I know the feeling. Thank God for the Drs whom have given me the proper medications so that I can at least get up from the bed which I would not want to due to the spine that doesn't want me to get out of the bed. If it was up to me I would be in bed 24/7 so that I do not have to go through what I go through everyday. My case is a chronic, severity type of everything in my skeletal and muscles. I also suffer panic attacks and anxiety. I approve of this petition because of the people who really need their pain killers are being penalized for those who do not need them and abuse them and do other things with them. I am a victim of deprivation. I live in my own bubble, cannot do the things I used to do 4 years ago. Thank you for taking the time reading my story and for enforcing the concern of people in chronic pain petition.REPORT COMMENTS

If I could decrease the pain for awhile and start an exercise program I may be able to put the fibromyalgia in remission. it will not happen this way because I am not allowed to take pain medication. I cannot take nsiads, they cause ulcers and stomach problems. Living with the pain has caused me to not be able to work, and to give up a lot of the activities that I have done most of my life.REPORT COMMENTS

As a mother of two and a young professional working in the legal field, I have seen both sides of the negative sides of this issue. I have to say that the last thing that I want to do each day is to take my pain medication. I take nine other medications each day to limit my narcotic usage and spend an additional $200 per month for them. But with an incurable, progressive neurological pain condition, I have only two options each day - do not walk on my own or take the pain medication. Patients need the support of their physicians, and physicians need the support of the health care system and oversight of that system to promote quality of life as a legitimate treatment objective.REPORT COMMENTS

As an emergency department RN I have witnessed first hand the discrimination of patients with.complaints of pain by both physicians and nurses. I have chronic pain and see a pain management physician every month. I feel judged by all the staff and the doctors at the office. I also have experienced poor treatment from pharmacists regarding my pain medicine prescriptions. I know what a huge problem this country has with illegal use of narcotics.I have never resorted to buying illegal drugs but I do understand people who feel forced to go that route. Please work with your colleagues to help those of us who live with chronic pain.REPORT COMMENTS

It is wrong how ppl with chronic illness that causes chronic debillitating pain are being treated like they are criminals..then are made to suffer even more. Ppl from other countries are disgustedat the way Americans suffer..they dodon't understand how the greatest country in the world could allow their ppl to suffer and be mistreated like that. Its sad when they hang their shaking heads in disapproval. We should be better than that. We should be the example of how medicine should be done.REPORT COMMENTS

I am a chronic pain patient suffering from Lupus, Fibromyalgia, Gastroparesis and Neuropathy...I rely on these medications just to make it through my day to handle my ADL's and life. STOP making doctors have to go against their own oaths to care for the sick.REPORT COMMENTS

There are some doctors I have had that were great to help me now my last dr had died of cancer and I moved found a new dr to take over care and after one year said she was helping me anymore as I had went outside my contract now this is not true in any way or form its just her hands were tied by new administration that took over that facility I went through with drawl and cried myself to sleep alot and finally found a doctor whom did a test and found out my thyroid and CK levels were high which indicate muscle pain I have fibromyalgia and had severe back injuries in car accident have been disabled since 2006 100 percent and it amazes me that some people can walk into a facility and get what they need but just because what one dr wrote I had to suffer I am back in with a great dr now and he is aware of what I went through checked local pharmacies and I had never violated the contract I was due for refill how come people who are in pain are treated worse than animals we don't want to live like this I hope that each of you gets the care you need and that mine continues to see how bad I hate living like this I have gained do to not being able to do what I once did and get depressed and have to sit out cause I swell like balloon from pain levels and double over its become to where I need help with everything and they think we are faking this shit. I have disease in liver not from drinking or street drugs either don't use and yet I can't take Tylenol or I B profin it doesn't do anything wonder what this is really coming too they don't treat people with other diseases this way and in my opinion pain should be considered a disease it is just as dibilitating.REPORT COMMENTS
