No one understands what a person with chronic pain lives with on a daily basis. I am never without pain..even when I try to sleep. I don't know how I would survive without relief from my pain.Aug 18th, 2013Someone from Grand Island, FL writes:
I am one of the lucky ones who have a doctor that is competent and willing to prescribe what his patient needs. When my regular pharmacy was out of my meds and went to another (of the same chain) the pharmacist went nuts on me! Told me I had to fill at same location all the time. Hard to do when they are out of meds sometimes... Oh well, many in service businesses probably ought not to be allowed to talk to the public. Lol.REPORT COMMENTS

People with chronic pain deserve the right to physician treatment! We are people and have a right to pursue happiness and I am not happy when I am in pain!!REPORT COMMENTS

My physicians are the very ones that told me I must NEVER again take anti-inflammatories due to issues with my stomach. Right now, I'm controlling the pain- reasonably well- with a minimum of medication. But the doctor and I both have talked about the future and I've been "encouraged to just hang on" because we're hopeful that this "witch hunt" will eventually be realized for what it is and that legitimate doctors CAN treat their legitimate chronic pain patients!!REPORT COMMENTS

I understand the need to stop or hinder the drug mills and drug seekers BUT, there must be a better way than to make it so hard for people with chronic pain to get the meds that help make life a little more bearable! I wish the letters were also going to the American Medical Association (AMA) and whatever Congressional committee in charge of health oversight.REPORT COMMENTS

My Dad is 64 years old and he has been taking pain medicine since 20 years ago. First it was tylenol with codene then it was hydrocodone, and now it is oxycodone. He has a long history of these meds. His health problems are endless. He has every high risk factor there is. Arthritis of the spine etc etc. His recent pain doctor was shutdown. They went ahead and made him and appointment with a new doctor. This doctor insulted him and told him he was doctor hopping. This is a bunch of crap. I am livid.REPORT COMMENTS

I signed, but the government, nor theDEA cares about us people in pain who are not druggies, but people who are trying to live more comfortable. They will not care about suicides that are going to go up due to not having pain relief. They are punishing us and putting us in torture, but I bet my sweet butt congress and the President, if in chronic pain or if they like the "high"they get from opiates, they get those medications/opiates by the loads full. Opiates do not get pain patients high....our pain is just lowered. Our bodies no longer produce enough natural endorphines to help our chronic, ongoing pain, so now doctors are scared to Rx anything for pain. Now we can only get cortsteroids injected in us that cause bone and tendon deteration, which in time will make our pain worse. However, none of what any ofus say will matter. The government and the DEA do not care about Americans at all !!!!! They are making us suffer in more ways they can think of. Life is over as we once knew it. We are living in a communist government now. Being told what to think, feel, read, and what doctors who go to school for years, are being told what they can Rx.....I do not believe in pill milks, but I do believe in pain relief for those in chronic pain, but the DEA will not allow pain relief. I would love for every last person affecting our relief with pain nothing but tortue and suffering of 24/7 pain on a scale from 1-10 to be a 12....or get a heart and stop the inhumane behavior of making those in severe chronic pain suffer. Bring doctors back to Rx pain medication and stop treating non-drug addicts as if they are. End the pain NOW!!!!REPORT COMMENTS

Too many people live their lives in excruciating pain! We need the public and the governments help in keeping pain medications available. I am not a criminal. I hurt I have chronic pain and sometimes the only way to manage it is with the pain medicine. Let's not punish The law-abiding citizens who hurt. You can't stop the criminals punishing the victims!REPORT COMMENTS

People with real genuine pain should be treated with compassion and respect. It is unfair for them to be treated like they are drug users, etc. They have done nothing to deserve this kind of treatmetn. Also doctors should not have to fear the DEA and its lackeys any longer. The DEA has stepped on too many toes. Yes while I understand and applaud the DEA's efforts to stop drug abuse, they are now targeting citizens that really need these pain meds and it is so wrong. The DEA needs to go back and put their fight where it belongs and that is with the war on street drugs.REPORT COMMENTS
