Please help me. I am a chronic pain patient who will need strong medicines for life. I need them just to get out of bed and have some kind of normalcy in my life. I am suffering and do not need to suffer even more.

Please, please I beg you to reconsider your decision. We chronic pain patients need these pain medications as almost all of us have tried everything to kill the pain our bodies are going through. There are those that abuse these medications but you can't allow their abusive behavior to give you reason to restrict the Doctors that treat those that really do have chronic physical pain problems that make us prisoners of our bodies. Granted pain medication is only one part of a complicated solution that works hand in hand with exercise and anti depression medication but it is a necessary part. Without it most chronic pain patients are as good as dead and we live an excruciatingly tortured existence till we do pass. away. Allow each doctor to watch us as a case by case basis and if we fail to meet the doctors standards for pain medication abuse then that one individual can be taken off the pain medication list without damaging all other patients and their pain medication programs. I've been dealing with my chronic pain problem since I was 15. Now I'm 58. Often I've had to quit jobs in order to give my body a chance to recover a bit from the pain I was experiencing. This body pain problem has ruined my life. I wanted to make a career in the ARMY but again my problem came back and I was discharged. Please have some compassion and sympathy for my brothers and sisters that share this chronic pain problem. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Michael in Montana.

If you don't suffer from chronic acute pain you can't know the day to day agony we suffer. Please don't punish doctors who legitimately want to help their patients.

Please help us get the care we deserve. Pain causes depression and suicide. There is not a fix for my botched surgery.....everyday I struggle with the concern that I might not be able to get the medicine I need so that I may function at a level that allows me to still, at least be a mother.

Why did we spend over 5 billion on cancer pain and only 396 million on all other pain related problem's?

I am so tired of pain. I have lived with it ever since a drunk driver ran a red light and hit me. I have paid for this my entire adult life with debilitating pain. Now my doctor has weaned me off of morphine which kept the pain more manageable. Instead you, the government, just want to continue holding hand with Big Pharma and their funky new drugs that are just as bad as addiction. These new drugs do not work. They are hard to get on, stay on and get off of. Sounds like addiction to me. Get over it. Addiction does not mean what is used to mean.

I am a 58 year old white female. I suffer severley from MS pain. I have been on strong pain meds for 2 years now, and not once abused them. I actually have meds left over from month to mont. If pain le5 and below I take Aleve, if higher than 5 I take a pain drug. I truly believe a person has to have an addicting personality in order to become addicted. I would hope Congress and the DEA will not make any laws that hurt the people such as myself. There have been times I have laid in bed crying out, because my leg pain was so intense. If I had a chain saw, it scares me as to what I would have done to my legs, for they could not have hurt any worse. I need my pain meds, as many do. Why punish everyone, because of others?

This is unfair to people who suffer from diseases that there is no cure for and suffer from cronic pain due to it. Like Rheumatoid Arthritis.. or Fibromyalgia. it is a shame that people like us have to suffer because of idiots that abuse drugs... there are other ways of finding out who the drug seekers are..

The logic of these rules is flawed. It's investigating everyone who sells & buys a hammer is if they planned to use it to murder someone. I am not fooled by the recent "shocking" news of older women dying of overdoses on pain meds. Since when to you care about women dying?
