I would have no quality of life & lose my ability to care for myself due to severe spinal pain, neuropathy, migraines, lupus pain, ryanauds, sjogrens, and I could go on. Please don't tell our law abiding doctors, how to practice medicine. Please don't scare Doctors into treating patients with chronic pain and disease syndromes that cause suffering. No human should have to suffer. The repercussion will be overflow of ER rooms, and out pt. clinics. Increase in crime etc. I am sure there is abuse in the system! Focus on fixing that, and don't punish the truly needy. Thank you for reading my comments.

Pain is real. Elderly, people with chronic pain disease and other's should suffer? They do not walk in our shoes so they should not tie our doctors hands or put them in fear of treating their patients. Very sad this country is coming to where we let people suffer for no real reason but big government.

They are there to treat the patient with legimate health problems not embarrass or chastise you.I do not know one human or animal that deserves to suffer when there are medications to at least make life bearable. That is unciviled to allow someone to suffer because of no obvious injury nerves, discs, migraines are extremely painful medication allows people to maintain jobs and provide for families so that to is going to impact lives more people have to resort to welfare because they cannot function with constant pain is that the answer? The doctors are eager to charge you to treat you like a criminal for seeking their training and improve quality of life. It is riddicilous not to mention further liver and organ damage being done by taking so much over the counter pain relievers to relieve your pain. If you don't abuse the medication and can pass drug test have proof of why it is necessary you have your bases covered you would think.

The DEA has no business getting involved in patients pain medications, and doctor relationships. The statistics show that less1% of Chronic Pain Patients abuse their medications. The Politicians and the DEA should look at facts instead of ruining lives! The "Drug War" is a failure, something should be done about the bad policies, stupid decisions, and the lack of common sense used by the DEA and other entities that try to score political points by misleading the public and ruining lives. My life has been ruined by ignorant Doctors, misdiagnosis, and misleading information. I had to drop out of College and can no longer work, because my pain went untreated due to false information and ignorance. I am now on SS and Food stamps because my pain went undiagnosed for years! I could have been a productive member of society if I had gotten the care I needed. The DEA has caused a whole new set of problems, from pain patients taking their own lives, and being unable to function because of under treatment, to a new Heroin epidemic among drug users. I sure wish the policy makers could see the damage they have done. Too bad they can't understand Scientific facts and instead rely on rhetoric and nonsense that does not correlate to facts. Millions of Americans have had their lives ruined because of the misguided and ignorant policies of the DEA. Even dying Cancer patients have been denied pain medication, because their Doctors are in fear of causing "addiction" or going to jail. Of course this all disproportional affects poor people, minorities and women! When will the madness end? Why should anyone have to live with the suffering of Chronic pain? Why is the DEA interfering with Doctors? To deny a person with legitimate pain, medication that makes their lives tolerable and allows them to function should be a crime. It is worse than torture! At least with torture you know there will be an end to it. Why should anyone be forced to take their own life because of intractable untreated pain? It should be a criminal act to deny anyone in pain medication that can give them hope and allow them to function. The draconian laws have only made our lives more difficult than they already are, costing the system more money, ruining lives, and taking away any hope some of us have! This country has a drug problem because of the criminalization, lack of treatment, lack of compassion, non existent mental health care, and downright ignorance! A system that turns harmless pot smokers into criminals has something wrong with it. Many drug users are self medicating, either physical or psychological pain, yet hey don't have the resources to get , while the DEA spends billions fighting a drug war with our tax money! There is no accountability, and they have only made the Global situation worse. Families are torn apart, and children taken away for petty drug usage. it is a fact that the DEA has not done anything to curb drug usage, it has increased th

I am on my way to becoming a patient who needs to take narcotics to relieve severe chronic pain. My mother is already a patient who needs to take narcotics due to her severe degenerative spine and hips. I can't take NSAIDS because they cause my uterine fibroids to bleed endlessly. I can't take steroids because I am diabetic. My only option is tylenol or narcotics. Please do not label chronic pain patients as LTDUs because the vast majority of us are NOT. Only very few out of the many of us actually abuse prescription drugs. It is unfair to label us as LTDUs because we have a high level of pain constantly. I hope to never be forced by my pain levels to find a pain management doctor and take narcotics long term. I already take a high level of gabapentin daily for severe chronic neuropathic pain.

I have a very painful kidney disease. I have suffered for three years straight and have had 22 surgeries. I am constantly treated as a pain pill seeker when I go to the er. Its not only unfair its akso very embarrassing to have to fight with the er just to get treatment. Its so bad that when my kidneys back up I wait until I cant take it anymore for fear of the treatment I will receive. Its hit or miss anymore. I understand there are many abusers of the system but if someone who takes the same medication at the same dose for years, they shouldn't be punished for all the others who abuse..

I am a chronic pain patient. I believe that the DEA has no business playing doctor. They do not know the medical histories of the patients being treated by the doctors that they are targeting. Some of these doctors are being targeted simply because they are the only ones in a certain area who have the compassion and the courage to still prescribe narcotic medication to their suffering patients when their colleagues in the area are to afraid to do so. So the DEA looks at this and says "Oh, looks like Dr. X is prescribing narcotics at a much higher rate than any other doctor in that area, lets go and harass and shut them down. Prescribing narcotic medication is the prerogative of the doctor. Not the DEA, not the pharmacist, not anyone else. Patients have a right to dignity and a huge part of that for those of us suffering with chronic pain issues is having pain relief. OTC medications don't cut it for most of us.

Medullary Sponge Kidney is a painful chronic condition along with the hundred's of kidney stone's we produce. Yes, I said 100's! And, doctor's don't want to treat us. Take a step back and tell me how unethical this is and how are doctor's getting by with treating us like drug seeker's?

Now being a chronic pain patient, after being one of the martyred doctor, I know, exactly how despicably they will behave. Neuropathic pain is no joke, yet the medical board lawyers congratulate themselves of ridding the medical ranks of "candy-man" doctors! Yet, I suffer at their hands, twice!
