Some chronic pain patients are no longer able to find a Dr to treat them. This also includes patients who need further surgery on an injury that's being actively treated. In some cases without surgery they may loose the ability to use the injured appendage. With out corrective surgery they can and will be left further disabled because of no treatment is available . If by chance they do Find a Dr your told pain medication will not be available after surgery. I'm referring to joint replacement and reconstruction of nerve , tendons and bone replacement or removal .Is this something you are strong enough to get done without any pain medication to aid in your recovery. When you do get an appointment to see a Dr once your medical history is reviewed before your first visit most Dr's require your records before your first visit. On your first visit you are informed that they can't and won't treat you. But you will still be billed for the visit. If you ask why . Your told you are a Dr shopper only trying to get pain medication. Even if you have all your medical records and in them it clearly states what your medical conditions are and why the surgery is necessary to prevent your debilitating pain from getting far worse than it is already . I ask how is this even possible ? We are required to have health insurance that we can't use . Is this how you would want to be treated by your Dr , country and fellow American's . If you knew an operation could be performed to improve your quality of life wouldn't you be upset if it was no longer an option. Something needs to be put in place to provide needed medicine and treatment. As a result of the many corrective surgeries I needed to save the function in my arm I have developed RSD,Rheumatoid arthritis and Fibromyalgia, anxiety and depression, diabetes and a heart condition . Imagine all you skin on fire and your hands and your knees and legs so swollen you cry when you move. I just want what every one else wants and that is to have good quality of life with minimal pain. I have a genetic form of degenerative discs. I have been tild by my physician to quit taking asprin and other otc anti inflamatory aids. I do however continue to take asprin because although it helps little it is more help than anything he will prescribe to me. I live in constant pain. In the past I have taken hydracodone. I am a 56 year old woman who works with special needs children. about 16 years ago as I picked up a little boy with CP I felt my back pop, from that moment on I have been in pain. I have been to every kind of Dr., therapy etc you can imagine. Ten years ago I found a pain Dr. who gave me methadone for pain. Three low dose pills a day. I had my life back still have pain but I could live with it. Two weeks ago he had to take it away because the government has decided it is bad for us. Now I am in misery, I have no life and may have to go on disability. When did it become the governments job to tell me what I need. I have never done drugs and I do not even drink. Big Brother DOES NOT need to be in my business regarding my health. This is between me and my doctor. I have taken a low dose of Hydrocodone (on a as needed basis) since the summer of 2010. I have severe arthritis in both my knees. I had total knee replacement in my right knee in 2012. I have held off getting this same procedure in my left knee due to my workload at work and my sick leave. I also have arthritis in my lower back. I have done injections in my back and knees. But now my body doesn't handle cortisone very well as I have side effects. Yes it helps the pain a little bit but it's short lived. I am stressed and full of anxiety about whether I will still be able to continue on pain medications. My current doctor looks at me as an addict and keeps telling me that I need to wean off the Hydro. I have taken OTC anti-inflammatory and all this does is upset my stomach and doesn't really help with my pain. These government organizations trying to make it difficult to obtain pain meds for people who suffer from severe pain should shove it. You have rich folks who organize groups to stomp the ground to end the prescribing of these meds because their child OD'd on a pain pill. I'm sorry for their loss but there was probably other things going on in this person's life. They could have easily grabbed alcohol or a gun and would have had the same result. I would be that folks in the DEA and those in congress probably have some sort of health issue going on in their life and probably get pain medication with no problem (because they have money and can most likely get anything they want). Hollywood stars are probably in the same boat. I would guess that they have easy access to doctors who prescribe all kinds of medicines. It's unfortunate that these stars have OD'd and will OD on these meds. But again there is probably something else going on in their life. We are all adults and when we physically have these meds in our hands (legally) it is our responsibility to take them appropriately. It we do something stupid with these meds, then it is still OUR business. Alcohol and cigarettes kill many people every day along with street drugs (because folks can no longer get their pain meds). I can go on and on about this. Again my health is between me and my doctor and NO ONE ELSE. I'm all for coming down on those doctors who freely hand out different types of meds without legit reasons. But don't convict those of us who honestly need this type medicine for quality of life. I still have to get up every day and go to work and it's extremely hard some days without medicine. I come home from work many evenings and just sit down and cry because of the pain. And yes I have done many alternative things to help with my pain so I wouldn't have to take pain meds. They haven't worked. So those of you campaigning against doctors prescribing pain medications along with the DEA, and other government organizations it's time to go chase otherREPORT COMMENTS

These are the "sane" people enacting laws affecting us. What is being done to individuals in pain is a nightmare. I have received no help from Congress or the Senate - all they want is to sit on the top of the backs of taxpayers and collect their fat paychecks pensions and perks. GET WITH THE PROGRAM FOLKS - THEY ARE NOT GOING TO HELP US. WE NEED TO CONTACT TV, RADIO, AND FIND A LAWYER WHO IS WILLING TO REPRESENT US.
