This is absolutely "killing" the patients, who are in pain from horrific disorders, most w/ no cure, no treatment that will change the course of the disease. I suffer myopathy and a muscular dystrophy disease, w/ my son, and live in chronic, debilitating pain that dr's refuse to address and treat. This is inhumane!REPORT COMMENTS

Freehold, NJ - Thanks for info. The DEA's war on drugs is a known abysmal failure - they are unqualified to make life-altering decisions for Americans. I was left in severe pain following surgery and did not know why. I researched online and learned of this nonsense. The hospital warned me my blood pressure shot up from pain. A relative in healthcare advised me that being left in acute pain, thereby raising one's blood pressure and heart-rate: 1. puts you at risk for a stroke 2. puts you at risk for kidney damage. I want to WARN pain patients whose healthcare providers have not enlightened them of these possible consequences. The rules the DEA has implemented are NOT innocuous. Pain is not the only thing you're facing. THE DEA HAS PUT US ALL AT RISK FOR A STROKE AND KIDNEY DAMAGE. THIS IS VERY SERIOUS AND PEOPLE MUST TAKE THIS WARNING SERIOUSLY AND MAKE THEIR VOICES HEARD.REPORT COMMENTS

What right do you the Government of the United States to interfere with our doctors and our personal experience with chronic pain. "First do no harm" is an oath taken by doctors. What right do you have trying to wedge your political agendas in between doctor and patient. Stick to what you think you know best, like running this country free of political tyranny. Stop trying to play God and leave the pain management to the professionals who were trained to understand what chronic pain involves and how it affects our daily lives. How arrogant will you allow yourselves to get before you get it?! Leave the doctor patient relationship you know absolutely nothing, run your government with your wars against the true enemy and leave us the hell alone!REPORT COMMENTS

I suffer from ptsd fight or flight because of pain with severe depression but I have no doctor . I have a hernia they won't operate until pain is managed but they won't manage pain because of the DEA . Even the physiologist said my pain needs managed . I left my last pain clinic because they had me in an exam room for 20 minutes with cotton in my mouth is ask my emergency contact to see where the doctor was and they where in another exam room having a pizza party . I'm not a drug addict so I left no one should be treated like this they got paid to make me sit there while they ate pizza . Since then I quit my primary care physician because I asked him of all the steroids and designer drugs throughout my dealing with pain management he said they only do that to justify the pain medication ? They blew me from 230lbs to 390 lbs i was bed ridden because of them I trusted these doctors . He was not watching out for me . So I tried to find another doctor they say pain needs managed send me to pain clinics they won't treat because of the dea and politicians playing doctor . Pennsylvania has legalized Cannibis but you need a doctor to get a card ? I will never look for another doctor because then I will be doctor shopping ? I won't ask for help because I'll be drug seeking ? I will never be the same . I have been abused mentally physically and financially by doctors and politicians and the dea . I would kill myself but I fight there are others God gave me life he decides when to call me home . http://www.alternet.org/drugs/dea-agents-use-drugs-steal-guns-drive-drunk-keep-jobs http://www.lectlaw.com/files/cjs13.htm http://www.drugpolicy.org/blog/dea-sex-scandal-not-about-sex-its-about-corruption-and-impunity-war-drugs Please help me .REPORT COMMENTS

They feel bringing a copy of it may help pts get their meds. What I got from it is that these corrupt agencies who came up with these INHUMANE restrictions have a year to report back the hardships legitimate pain pts are having in obtaining meds. Is that what you read?? I will be contacting Senator Smiths office, ar least Ill try and call him Monday for further explanation of this so called law allowing legitimate pain pts access to meds. So many people who have had their medication lower or taken from them have died due to turning to illegal drugs and over dosing! Just look in the obituaries, this is hapening daily. have had two back surgeries, more back shots than I can count and the pain is back. Now, they want to do more surgery. I do not want to have anymore surgery. It helps for a while but it comes back. No more surgery for me. I am 62 years old and all I want to do is live my live with little pain. I have a hard time getting meds for pain control because of all of this sillyness. If I want to be a drug addict I would get it off of the street instead of paying to see a physician and asking. This is hurting real patients and we have to just live (or not) with the pain, Help us please.REPORT COMMENTS

Almost every law passed to stop crime affects the innocent way more than it does the guilty. The people abusing drugs will always find their high and then what about the people in pain 24/7? So your going to put us out of work cause now we will have no life at all. Everyone on disability or killing themselves. Until you have to live your life in pain 24/7 you need not make any decisions on people who do. I'm tired of being treated like a criminal because I have chronic pain. How can you sit there and discriminate against people with disabilities?REPORT COMMENTS

I was appalled reading of the young addict who stated people faked their pain to sell pills for extra retirement cash. That's low. I can tell you young man that I've never done that - and I'm sure many other ethical people have not. Same story: those who have misused it have ruined it for all. It still does not excuse the DEA from implementing and unworkable solution - especially when a multitude of DEA agents have been found stealing and using the drugs they confiscate, stealing weapons, driving drunk, and engaging in sordid sex parties. Their brains must be burnt out from the drugs they've used because the foolhardy solution to the "addiction" problem was to hurt innocent people. The wrong people are in power. What is being done to innocent victims is evil.REPORT COMMENTS

Okay so, i'm sorry if you feel like i don't belong here, and i may be responsble for some of your pain. I appologize, but keep in mind i am a person too. I get that doctors are afraid to loose their licence and what not. But it should not matter who you are or what your past is. I, for example, am a recovering addict. But guess what? The doctors started this addiction. Yet when I was cut off I never doctor shopped or anything like that. I use to buy my pills from grandpa Joe Shmo, dying from cancer, selling his script to buy marijuana instead. Now, I have been on suboxone for a few years, and have turned my life around. I have a family, job, apartment, car, ect. Five years ago, nothing. I made bad life choices that I may not have made, if my pain were treated properly. Now, here I am having even more issues, and I cannot receive ANY relief. I developed ulcers on both feet that have grown to the size of baseballs! My addiction treatment Dr. is prescribing me outrageous amounts of suboxone, six per day, but it doesn't help the pain whatsoever. I take the maximum amount of Tylenol, Advil, and Aleve. All in all 32 pills per day. I still wake up every 3 hours crying. I cannot walk. I skip bandage changes, and can't shower anymore. My two year old son is scared of me cause I cry out and yell in pain so much. I'm 32 and use a walker. Recently, I lost my job. I am suffering. Really suffering. My options for alternative pain relief? Valium, and Ketamine. It's a joke. The doctors excuse for letting me suffer is that they don't want to contribute to my addiction. So what? Get me hooked on benzo's and induce a hallucinogenic K hole? I could abuse anything if I wanted. Especially the benzo's. But honestly, and this will sound weird coming from an addict, I don't like being messed up. So I won't touch the benzo's or special K. Leaving me with very few options. It is almost coming down to a relapse. Or legally buy some research chemical 6800 times more potent than morphine, and overdose. You know, come on. Five years and the life I worked so hard to rebuild, gone down the drain, cause I'm going to end up buying six 40$ perk 30's from someone's grandma every day. Do no harm my butt. Oh yeah, by the way, doctors made these wounds a lot worse. There's such bad stigma around these pills in America. They are going overboard. If we lived in Canada, I could buy Tylenol with codeine OTC. Mexico...anything. It is my life, and my responsibility to stay straight. There is a huge difference between legit pain management, and relapse. I'm already technically on a narcotic, so what's the difference to them? The difference to me is relief from this hell. 9 months I have dealt with this. If I were prescribed pain meds, at least the docs will know I'll take my meds, and not just sell them on the street. Unfortunately, it's not the addicts ruining it for everyone, it's the people who fake their pain to supplement their retirement payments. If doctors spent more time making sureREPORT COMMENTS
