I am a retired paralegal and former Case Administrator to a Chief Judge for the US District Court. After many years of acquiring various CONFIRMED diagnoses, including a neck fusion, a non-operable herniated disc above the fusion, several low back herniations, uncontrolled IBS, periodic limb movement which makes sleeping difficult, and severe muscle spasms, my doctors had me on a regimen of medication that was making my life much more tolerable. When you're falling asleep at the wheel, something's gotta give. My neurologists are the finest in Indianapolis. I wave been told time and time again not to abruptly stop. After moving to Florida for retirement, I found that not only are the doctors AFRAID to keep you on the same medication regime, the pharmacies refuse to fill them. So, despite it all, I was forced to stop all meds. I use opioids only when the pain is unbearable. Oddly enough, even my medication for severe stomach pain and diarrhea (irritable bowel) are also in this "no-no" group of meds. I'm not a "Doctor shopper" - followed be the same ones for the majority of my adult life. However, when the Florida doctor told me he would only give me one prescription - AND ASKED ME TO CHOOSE IT - I was floored. So ... All those tests, consults, hard work by my physicians who have followed me for years - struck down by a doctor who didn't even examine me. So, I'll go ahead and pay my taxes, support our government and abide by the CDC's "guidelines" and continue to suffer. Understand I only have pain killers I hand for severe pain. No matter what ... I will never resort to buying off the streets or turning to heroin. The thoughts that any doctor or pharmacy might think I would sickens me.

I've managed to stop myself from taking my life due to horrific untreated pain, but one day, just like thousands of others who suffer due to misguided and ******** guidelines/laws, I will reach the point of no return. STOP DESTROYING THE LIVES OF LEGITIMATE PAIN PATIENTS - addicts will find a way no matter what. Those of us who follow laws are the ones dying.

Okay CDC the Mexican cartel is now making fake oxycodone and brings it over & targeting pain patients who can not get their meds legally anymore. It has now caused more deaths and overdoses because these people are having to go to the streets to try and get some kind of relief. Any person who has suffered for years, day after day will tell you that if pain meds are not available there are 2 options, go to the streets to try and find some relief or end your live. We the people can not live with this kind of pain you are making us suffer with. You think there was a overdose problem before you just wait and see it increase ten fold because of people getting their hands on these fake meds for some kind of relief. As we all know you don't give a******and you will blame the deaths on people being given legal opiates. You started this mess now you need to fix it. Believe me, if I could changed it I would along with thousands of us others who are suffering because of you and your f-----d up regulations! I only hope that someday one of you will have to suffer like we are.

This is a very sad and sick situation. .. I see people of all ages have posted here, from the young to very old (70 ish) pain does not discriminate . I have seen so very many great doctors in NJ loose their licenses over the past 3 years. Doctors who did no wrong and worked so hard for the betterment of their patients whom they knew better than the Government. It's fine that poison such as chemo and radiation is acceptable for a patient, however these very same people who have fought so hard to live are not entitled to any relief or compassion. ALL people who suffer their own pain are entitled to their own pain relief of whatever may work for their condition. You took our Doctor's souls away, dictated to them in such a manner that the oath they took after All their hard work and many years of training and education was sacrificed. The rehabs that you have implemented are abused and profiting not from addicts but people who suffer daily and immensely and are told they are addicts. In fact they ARE NOT, they are people who suffer debilitating chronic pain with no options of surgeries or gadgets. I have watched so very many decline, and commit suicide due to unbearable pain that has greatly disrupted and decreased the quality of their life. The sad part is the suicide goes unnoticed undocumented unattributed to their unbearable pain. Why was pain management implemented? Even these professionals are scared to death to write a needed medication. You can see the hurt and compassion in their eyes just as the MD yet they have no recourse. You can rest assured that when the higher ups suffer they most certainly will be able to obtain whatever is necessary is needed to rest easy. Our Government seems to discriminate on the sick, weak and the poor. Look at all our institutions for the profoundly down syndrome. . not many left so now we have FAILED group homes. Group homes are great for some but not ALL! For all who continue to suffer I pray for you ALL. For ALL the doctors whom tried to help and were condemned for your compassion I pray! For ALL the lost souls who were forced into a lifeless life of pain and could no longer endure the suffering I pray. We need to stand up for ALL these forgotten and we need to stand up for our rights for a somewhat normal life.. it has to end here and now before many, many more sick and pain ridden LEGITIMATE people decide death is better than a life of seclusion and endless enduring pain. We have the compassionate marijuana act in NJ (if you can afford it) and also if it even works for the pain. Makes a lot of sense huh? Well insurance doesn't pay so I would assume that is the reason the DEA has looked the other way on this issue. If it works for you and you can afford it God Bless, however just as one pain medication may work for someone it may not help another. Their is no replacement for pain medication for those who need it. We need to unite, we need more than petitions. Believe me I know it's hard to even function in

Linda, i dont think your the type that makes pain patients feel like dirt and should be swept under the rug. For many,if not most, doctors have been extremely rude to patients. Rarely have i been treated that way but i have at one time. There is no need to hurt a patient with verbal abuse. Especially when they know your suffering already. If they cant treat pain they need to state so and maybe get into another line of work. Instead they choose to hate the pain patient because of what the govt is doing to them. They are the ones that need the backbone to stand up against this and they would surely win. Power in the numbers. And they can be quite rude and unforgiving at times for something "pain", we have no control over. Thanks for being one out of a thousand doctors that did care. The others convict themselves.

It is so bad that as a pain patient I cannot find a doctor for reg care... as soon as they see I am a pain patient I get turned away... my new pcp wont even give me muscle relaxants and I am in CONSTANT muscle spams... i pray that now of these so called law makers come down with DDD, Stenosis or Cancer or any other pain causing condition to where they would benefit from these drugs... this is NOT A LIFE SITTING IN BED DAY AFTER DAY YOUNGER THAN 45, THINKING OF WAYS TO END YOUR MISERABLE CONDITION...

I am a doctor that was targeted by the US Attorney's office and DEA. I did nothing criminal. In fact, my office was the tightest run office in the region. And yet I was convicted through outrageous government conduct which has been ignored by every court through the Supreme. As long as they can get away with attacking innocent physicians and criminalizing them in order to confiscate their assets, this problem will continue. The people, if they want to see a change, have to stop convicting doctors for doing their job. And get congress to amend the CSA so that the phrase "outside legitimate course of medical practice" cannot be used against doctors at the whim of the Justice Department.

I have suffered from the effects of transverse myletis that has caused scarring on my spinal cord mainly on c2 i have steroid IVS every few months to try and keep inflammation down my veins are becoming scarred and its hard on my body. When i first was diagnosed my pain was treated with common sense and compassion im 56 and never have abused any substance. This is the kind of pain that drives you insane because i am embarassed that i need to use a combination of gabapentin and narcotics just to get through each day with some quality of life i went on lyrica and became suicidal ive tried everthing and because the injury is so high i cannot benefit from a spinal cord stimulator my neuro tells me.The point here is now because the DEA has decided all folks on narcotics are low life addicts and think they need to get between patients and doctors and in my opinion theres a lot of money in rehab centers ,kick backs somewhere, folks like me are having the medication we need just to function with some quality of life and ive decided quality not quanity counts cut back to the point where we are truly suffering im even looking into the right to die with dignity a life lived in constant pain is not a life and those that think that kids will not be able to get them are deluded now these kids are on herion. But i guess its easy to torture those of us with horrific disease because were to stressed and weak to fight back how inhumane is man. As for the overdoses i think these may very well be folks that are under treated are perhaps they are tired of being treated like a criminal by so called pain clinics think about it i would never have had to pee in a cup before because im a law abiding citizen isnt it bad enough we suffer from incurable disease,i think those folks commit sucide after awhile you just give up are perhaps their not aware of the risks due to bad counseling either way when does it become alright to make us suffer just to save a few by doing that the DEA is sentencing folks like me to a life not worth living. Common sense needs to be executed in these new regulations.

I was rear ended a few years ago. Within a couple months, I could not hold down an architectural job from a chair anymore, lost my home and my life. Then broke my knee and without medical insurance, was forced to let it heal broke and cannot walk normal now. Now disabled. I cannot get pain help from any physician and forced into a pain clinic which is the worst mistake anybody can make. You a controlled by people that have no idea what it feels like. Now I am labeled and judged and still have no relief. Only two options left, street drugs and death. If street drugs or killing myself is unsuccessful, I will be be arrested and will now have a record. Pain is a dark world. Pull this bus over. I want off this ride. The fun is gone!

I have stage 4 cancer and suffer unbearably everyday in addition to a failed spinal fusion! I am not a drug seeker or addict. Where is the compassion? Let our Doctor's do their job.. and you do yours! This is inhumane. ...shame on the DEA. By the way how is it all these young kids are the only ones getting pain medication that they don't even use but sell? I believe your plan was set to STOP this from happening? FYI it backfired. .need pain med? Go buy them from the kids... wtg great job! Heroine dealers making a big buck too thanks to you! Suicide rate must be way up ..I know 3 people personally who committed suicide over the past 3 years ... all cancer patients in unbearable pain unable to obtain proper meds..there will be many more to come. The overdose of opoids we all hear about is from people who are not even prescribed meds .. I do not sell mine, I do not abuse mine.. yet I am treated as a drug seeker with stage 4 Cancer.. PS... what was the point of Pain Management? Just as the M.D they are scared to death to take proper care of their patients. .. scared to loose their licenses and sacrifice their careers. . When it's your time..or someone you love dearly time ...and trust me that time will come... I wish you the same compassion you have bestowed upon myself and my family. ..Best Dan

This was and now my worst fear. I'm 42yrs.old and I would love to be with my 4 kids and see their kids grow up. I've had 3 back surgeries in 8 years. A couple steroid shots and nothing has worked. I try everything because I want to feel better I want to get off or even take less of my pain pills, but I have no choice. The pain is so unbearable and I cannot believe our country rather see people suffer or take their lives because you think you know what's good for us. God help us all. I ask God to please have them change their decision so good people can feel no or less pain. I will have to find other means to help the pain and this is not what I want but have no choice. We the people need to take action they shouldn't be able to let us suffer. Let's stand up for our pain!

It is sooo degrading to be told you are just drug seeking when you're in miserable pain. Who decides that this is a humane way to treat people who are suffering with chronic pain? Why do these people get to judge whether or not another human being is truly in pain? I did not choose to have back problems. I did not choose to be in pain. I do not choose to have to reach out for help and I certainly didn't choose to be mistreated by the very people who can help.

Make sure the DEA arrests any doctor or nurse practitioners that give Cannibis cards or notes for patients , in any state , it's a schedule one substance and make sure the cdc has no guidelines for the use of Cannibis . You dont choose wich laws to up hold you do it all or nothing if the Dea dose not arrest doctors who recomend or prescribe cannibis then there is no need for the Dea .The next thing is its going to be a Cannibis epidemic . It is a pain epidemic not a drug epidemic . As I mentioned in an earlier post and letter because of politicians pretending to be doctors I will never go to a doctor again . This war on drugs is now taking chronic pain patients lives , we are not addicts we have nerve damage . Opiods worked for my chronic pain but because the states and government wants to make money off of Cannibis they are now forbidden for the medical conditions they where made for . Your not worried about the people you serve but control and money in the end you are the addicts addicted to abusing power and the pushers of drugs you decide which drugs get pushed . Pain patient with Untreated chronic pain because of you .

we all knew this was going to happen-Obamas Tzars are rearing their ugly heads. I have written my senator John Cornyn twice. 300000 persons die from obesity related illness every year in the United States- Drug related deaths 27 thousand. Smoking related deaths in the U.S./ 400 thousand and cigarettes are legal everywhere in America. 400 thousand dead from medical errors every year and few doctor are punished. 250 thousand alcohol related deaths every year and alcohol is legal. Out of the 27 thousand deaths by drug over dose only 1/4 of those are from prescription drug misuse. Has the politicians lost their minds. Can you imagine how many deaths there will be should the government stop letting doctors treat their patients in chronic pain. Does the government not realize people in acute pain will do anything to stop the pain including going to the streets to get relief? what a bunch of idiots we have running this nation. I hate them all.

In the 1920s during prohibition of alcohol, they added poisons such as imbolming fluid to it to make more of it. Many died from this. Govt was causing more deaths and making of powerful gangsters.Much money was to be made There taking away of it caused more of the same problem they tried to stop. In 1933 it was made legal. Deaths stopped and the dangerous gangster activity involvement ceased. I am not a genius but we are supposed to look back at history to get some answers. You are killing innocent people that have plaid by the rules and worked hard in their life. Very few abuse there meds and if it is true that people are going to the streets for relief, then you have their deaths on you alone. You are pushing those that cannot deal with it to a cold death. Pain of 7-10 daily for even short periods of time is nothing but torture on a patient. I am sure that it does not take a doctor to explain that. I still dont know how you can sleep at night knowing full well that most of us really suffer undeniable pain and are destroying families in the process. All because of a few junkies, you are willing without exception to let thousands of us suffer until we cant bear it anymore? Demonic is the only rational answer i can think of.

To the state of Pennsylvania you really expect doctors to give people a medical Cannibis card after you made them stop opioid treatments ? Do you expect doctors to prescribe a class one controlled substance ? I have no doctor because they aren't allowed to treat chronic pain my illness and to now go find a doctor to give me a medical Cannibis card ,that's not an option anymore I would be doctor shopping and called a drug seeker just to have my pain managed . I am in bad pain yes I need surgery and doctors made it clear that my pain needs managed before they would operate . I have been damaged abused mentally physically by politicians playing doctor . I will never go to a doctor again because of you . This phonie trying to help by legalizing Cannibis who is it going to help ? I don't need a doctor to know I'm in pain, so why would I need one to have my pain treated? I want restitution for this hate crime . You a doctor do you suffer from chronic pain? Then you have no business trying to prevent medical intervention.
