Please email Eric Shore: http://www.1800cantwork.com/contact-us/ I did. I NEED EVERYONE TO EMAIL HIM. AT THE BOTTOM OF YOUR POST INCLUDE THE LINK ABOVE. THE DEA'S ACTIONS ARE INTOLERABLE AND UNCONSTITUTIONAL. WE NEED A CIVIL RIGHTS LAWYER. IF WE STAND TOGETHER WE CAN FIGHT BACK AND OVERTURN THIS INSANITY. -

To my brothers and sisters in pain: I have tried numerous alternative therapies with zero results. A cheap infrared pain wand has helped some. I am in pain when I wake up until the time I go to bed. I can't wait for sleep to escape my now-nightmare existence. Yes, I think of opting-out multiple times a day, as I see only pain ahead. My life is not pretty. I writhe in bed for hours, cry to drag myself into the shower, and am rude to family. I want to be left alone. I am very weak. I had major surgery and was given tylenol with 5% painkiller which left me in acute distress. I went to the ER, and the doctor wouldn't give me anything - they have been bullied by the DEA and are afraid of losing their license. There is a civil rights lawyer in NJ - Eric Shore who seems to be good. Can everyone here email him and ask him to represent us. WE NEED TO SUE THE DEA.REPORT COMMENTS

How would anyone in the government feel if they had to watch their loved one suffer knowing there is medication available yet unattainable? Do you realize how many more people will be applying for Social Security Disability because they won't be able to get out of bed let alone hold a job? Pain is the leading cause of employees using sick time, it's going to get a lot worse if pain patients are not treated.REPORT COMMENTS

Found out that extended release opiates should not be given to menapausal woman who cannot do HRT, I weaned off my patch over taking breakthrough meds and got dismissed from pain mangmnt--had almost acute withdrawal else and went to ER, little girl it triage said oh yeah if you can't do HRT, you should not be given extended release opiates, they will deplete adrenals and lower thyroid--plain oxycodone is best....why don't pain docs know this? I have fighting them for years after I found that info and only just heard confirmation while in triage at ER for withdrawal!!!REPORT COMMENTS

Just like legal gun owners are RARELY the ones committing crimes with firearms, chronic pain patients are RARELY the ones abusing them. If these medications were truly so dangerous, why are they okay for cancer patients? the fact is, those who abuse pain medications are most often those using them for recreational purposes or to 'get high', not the ones who take them as prescribed, make every doctor's appt, gladly sign pain contracts and need them to have any quality of life whatsoever. What the government is doing is a crime, the worst form of witch hunt when the actual issue here is illegal use. It's McCarthyism all over again.REPORT COMMENTS

The witch hunt to deamonize pain patients and doctors who treat them has to stop. Pain medicine is not evil. It is stated in the bible that God put stuff here for pain and we all know what it is. SOMEDAY IN EVERYONE'S LIFE MAY COME A TIME WHEN THEY NEED THIS KIND OF HELP AND THEY ALL BETTER PRAY THAT THE DO GOODERS, WHO HAVE RUINED EVERYTHING ELSE, DONT SCREW THIS UP TOO! THIS IS A PERSON'S RIGHT TO TREAT THEIR OWN PAIN THE WAY THEY SEE FIT AND NOT THE FRIGGIN DEA. (Retired cop and member of LEAP -Law Enforcement Officers against prohibition)REPORT COMMENTS

I have prescriptions for my meds but the pharmacy has a hard Time filling them. I also don't want to depend on them then they take it away so I'm alway going through withdrawals trying not to get hooked. When I take it the way I suppose to a period o six months I find myself needing something for break through but then the doctor says that to much. I sat in the same place for almost ten years because the doctors would not prescribe pain meds. I had to go to another state to feel worthy of taking them even though I don't want to but the help me have a better quality of life now. But I still feel some type of bad way for taking them.REPORT COMMENTS

It is very sad that we live in a society that is more worried about people getting addicted to drugs or getting high, than people being able to get pain medications so that they can lead a normal life as they did before the chronic pain was a problem. Addiction is both physical and psychological, as many people that try and fail to quit smoking, drinking of liquor, gambling, and people that take drugs to escape life. Many are called addicts and abusers just because they need medications to function as a part of society. This is the opposite of an addict, where the addict does not want to be functional. The need that I'm referring to is the medication offers people an escape from the pain so they can feel normal again. Why anyone would think that having the feeling of being attached to an electric fence or other painful thing would not drive people to take medications or anything that will relieve the pain must be insane. The long term effects of chronic pain are that death looks much preferable to living with the pain that is uncontrolled.REPORT COMMENTS

I live in pain daily with fibromyalgia, diabetes, neuropathy in my hands and feet along with other muscular issues and different illnesses. I have to have medication for this pain and to take it away from people like me would leave me bed ridden. I stay in bed/on the couch ALL day as is. If I have my medicine I am able to try and work through the pain. I take care of my 87y/o mother also, all while still being in pain. Even with the medicine I'm never pain free but it allows me to push.REPORT COMMENTS

I live in chronic pain due to multiple back injuries, migraines, and unhealed broken bones. My Dr is OK with treating me and she knows I stay within my allotted amount and always have left overs. My husband is only 34 w rheumatoid arthritis and lives in daily pain. His dr prescribed his Oxycodon only to have the pharmacist say she did not want to fill because she didn't agree with why he has pain..... the dr is the one who knows their patient and the treatment protocol should be between them and NO ONE ELSE.REPORT COMMENTS

I am a chronic pain sufferer. I have had Dr.s who have helped me to live a fulfilling and functual life to be suddenly closed down!! Leaving me to have to find a new pain dr. When I stumble across one of these uncompassionate drs who label me a drug addict the law forces me to continue with this Dr. regardless of the fact that he refuses to give me adequate relief from my daily pain thus resulting in me losing jobs, incapable of daily household chores and no choice but to miss out on social activites because my dr. didnt give me adequate pain relief to function at a life quality I know can exist for me. So I seek a diferent dr. now Im labeled a Dr shopper. what happened to my right at a second opinion? My right to seek a dr. who can make my life more comfortable? I am stuck suffering in pain and i actually pay this dr. to keep me in 10 % of the pain relief I know is out there. I need pain medicine yet my dr gave me mobic. Mobic has landed me in the hospital in the past yet he says to take it. WHAT??!! yes this is true. this law must change cuz I now can understand people who think of suicide as the only way out of their pain. Not me, I am signing this petition and i am going to find a dr. who can help me live a better quality of life, even if it results in my arrest for " dr. shopping" . a ridiculous charge. I dont seek a bunch of drs to give me a bunch of drugs. I seek one dr. to help me live a better quality of life.REPORT COMMENTS
