I was informed that my pain Doctor may not be able to prescribe my pain meds soon because of the statistics of abuse and death. Unfortunately the people that abuse make it difficult for pain sufferers who don't abuse and can live an almost normal life. If I can't get help and relief like I have for the past 20 yrs my life will be unbearable. And I have tried every alternative way to release my ailment. Just unfair. Where are my rights as a patient who follows all the rules?

It is sad that if you were to do this to an animal your pet you would Be charged with animal cruelty, neglect, and letting your pet suffer. It is truly unbelievable that your pet has more rights that a human being does. I asked you how many mothers, Fathers, Aunts, Uncles, Grandparents & all other loved ones have to die ( suicide) because they couldn't deal with the pain anymore and they decided to take their life because of their severe chronic pain. I do agree that people that are selling their pain meds need to be accountable for their actions. Not the rest of us that need it to Function and have quality of life !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! These medicines that are prescribed for severe chronic pain Helps mother's, father's, & other love ones to take care of their CHILDREN!!!!!!!!!!! How many People and their families have to be destroyed because they want to lump sum every pain patient as an addict and a drug dealer. I know that there are better ways to find out who really needs these and who doesn't. All I can say is that you're not just punishing the pain patient for being sick, injured, Or because a surgery went wrong. You are punishing the pain Patient and their families and denying functioning and quality of life to the patients and their Families !!!!!!!!!! All because someone having severe chronic pain that they did not ask for. Believe me no one asks for this kind of pain. I've been living with it for over 5 years. I lost my marriage, my husband left me and my little girl, my ability to do things with my child and other very important milestones that a mother should be a part of I can never get back!!!!!! I also lost an amazing career with and extremely high six-figure Salary. And taking all those things away from me And making me suffer more than I already do is cruel !!!!!! My only job left is being a mother. I guess I'm wondering when are you going to take that job away from me !!!!!! because I won't be able to take care of myself and my little girl. She is the last thing I have. And I find it extremely cruel to hurt a parent and a child Because SOMEONE can't figure out who needs it and who doesn't !!!!!!!!!

As a chronic pain sufferer. I can tell you that NSAIDS are worthless when it comes to a herniated lumbar disc. As the pain is NOT caused by inflammation. It is nerve root pinching. I can't blame all physicians for not prescribing the appropriate analgesic narcotics. I guarantee that if every employee at the DEA spent 1 hour of the excruciating agony caused by a nerve being compromised by being pushed against the bony structure of the vertebral opening. Usually fixedly by a surgery called a foramonotomy. I give each DEA EMPLOYEE 1 hour, and they will be screaming for Morphine. They won't be reaching for Advil. Let our physicians know that the first of their oath is there for a reason. They are the trained professionals. Not the DEA. First do no harm is non negotiable.

I have many chronic medical conditions including herniated discs, spinal arthritis, DDD, fibromyalgia, chronic migraines but the most unbearably painful of all atypical trigeminal neuralgia less often than the most excruciating pain that feels as though someone is jamming an ice pick deep into your ear drum over and over for about 8 hours straight and having to sit up perfectly still and not touch your face as tears roll down although you can't blow your nose or wipe away your tears because that feels like a 10" nail being shot in the side of your face, etc..... It's also called the suicide disease. So now my chronic pain plan that included Norco stopped my attacks are back and far worse than we had them finally controlled to. I have had my neurologist, GP and chronic pain doctor all working together to help me and always complied to chronic pain contract and drug test isn't that who really need help also?

I am in chronic pain since 2002 when I became disabled from neoropathy in both legs, degenerative disk disease, spinalstenosis, with slip disk in both neck and back , carpel tunnel in both hands and wrists and left shoulder that had to be operated on. My doc has tried numerous epidermals and non narcotics and physical therapy and it has not relived the pain. My doc was giving me pain meds that I took as prescribed or less only when needed. Because I can't even do daily functions I would stay in bed most of the time at least with the meds I can function and do some things like house chores to an extent (excluding mopping floors) . Please don't take away the chance to have somewhat of a productive life. My doc is refusing to give me a refill saying after being on them for along time that I should find another doc because it's to much of a problem which I don't understand. Please help the ones who really need them like me.

This is a disgrace! What were they thinking? Use your heads and don't go too far in the opposite direction. It will force people who have legitimate pain to resort to illegal methods to obtain medication. So stupid. Not everyone wants to get high off narcotic pain medicine. All we want is for the pain to go away so we can function.

Honestly- it doesn't matter what anyone says or how many petitions are made, nothing will change. This is what the DEA wants! Open your eyes people! The DEA started the war on pain management because they want to push people to the streets! They want people to get hooked on heroine! More money to be made! If you don't think our gov doesn't have their hands dirty with illegal drug money, you done lost your mind!

I am currently sitting with my daughter in a hospital room. She is recovering from back surgery 6 days post op. We had a genetic testing done to see how she metabolizes meds. She ULTRA METABOLIZES meds. High doses of Dilaudid given her some relief. Her pain mgmt doc promised her they would control her pain. They are not. I've watched her crying, sobbing, saying she doesn't understand why they aren't helping her. The docs are aware and understand the genetic test and are fully aware of her metabolism. I am so angry and frustrated right now. If the doc werected to walk in now I'd put in into the wall! Pain mgmt had her taking 24 mg Dilaudid 3x a day or Dilaudid 8mg up to 8 a day. This was just to manage pain before the surgery. Post op pain meds have been a joke. Morphine is like water to her. Fentanyl patch does nothing. I don't understand why they won't up her Dilaudid to an amount that she's at least able to somewhat function!

Many like me have chronic pain are older (I'm 59) and work hard to have a quality of life as we deal with the pain. I'm a veteran as well and was told last week "You will have to learn to live with the pain." and he refused to give me a low-dose narcotic pain med to take as needed. I'm floored by this and worried sick about what I'm going to do when the pain gets unbearable. I may have to find someone I can get a prescription from or get them some other way. They are painting everyone with the same brush and that's not logical. I'm talking to patient advocates and an attorney. The Doctors are negligent, are harming me and causing me undue suffering and pain. I'm contacting their licensing boards. I'm a mom of an addict and understand addiction very well. I may no longer be able to work if I can't get pain relief. I wish I drank as that may obliterate the pain, however, I don't like alcohol. I foresee many lawsuits, and AARP involvement. I'm sure the very wealthy don't have this problem. Thankfully, I"m moving to a state that has legalized marijuana. It may come down to me having to purchase marijuana and make a pain tea for myself. Already, some of the suicides of soldiers are due to their pain and the VA's refusal to give them any more pain medication. Shakes my head.

I fell out of an elevator. I needed two costotransversectomies. This has caused an over abundance of scar tissue in my epidural space. My pcp is now a 4 hr round trip since we moved. I have a new pcp who pushed me to two other drs. No one will order my pain meds. I get it. I am a new patient. Why cant they speak with my prev dr to see how responsible I am. Does this mean no one can move ever to stay close to a dr who will take his oath as first no harm seriously! You cannot stop someone in severe pain from having pain meds after theyve been taking them for decades ( hey if an addiction problem was goin to surface, it certainly would have by now) Stopping abruptly will cause people suffering to search elsewhere for relief. Isnt this the main objective the dea is trying to prevent with all this madness? The exact opposite of what they are trying to do will happen.

I have been living with chronic pain for over ten years. My back is so back that the pain blocks didn't work. I've had other things done to my back too. My knee is so bad I can hardly stand on it. I was supposed to have surgery on 1-12016 but they found out I have cancer so that has to wait. I have have had laparoscopic surgery on both knees twice. My left shoulder is still in a lot of pain after a frozen shoulder. I spent 13 weeks in PT but have only regained 90% and the pain is horrible when I use it to much. I have gastroparesis and my stomach stays in constant pain and nausea. I control it with anti nausea and pain Meds along with a few other stomach Meds. I am allergic to the regular treatment for this disease. I don't know what it is like to be pain free I just know what it is like to have my pain lowered until tolerable. I have no quality of life. No playing with grandkids or family outings because it hurts to bad, so I sit alone in my apartment just wishing the pain would stop. Now my Dr. Has stopped writing me any pain medication he's talking about he's not a drug pusher. WTF. All my drug test have come back clean and with the right amounts of drugs I am suppose to take. I've done everything right, but this is horrible!!!! Shame on you!!!!

Without the pain medicine I need for severe chronic back pain (that no surgery can change) I would have no quality of life whatsoever. As a 63 year old widow, I would be forced to sell my home at a great loss and move into assisted living. I would lose the ability to do even simple things, like cooking a meal, much less do things I enjoy doing. Why would you do that to me? I am an RN and take my medications resposibly. Are you really going to punish me because of drug addicts and people who refuse to take their pills as ordered by their doctor? Are you seriously going to deprive me of how ever many years I have left to enjoy life?

When it comes to hospice and terminal illness every effort should be made to have that finish line at the bottom of the hill, and not at the top of a grueling mountain. Quality of life and being free from pain need to be a priority.

I to have everyday chronic pain, and because others have voiced the same concerns and comments I have to make, I don't need to say it again! Im not a drug seeker, have never handed my meds out like candy to others, I follow the regiment my doctor setup for me, and like everyone else, I pee in a cup. Does any other ilness require you to pee in a cup, other than a routine check up? Dont think so! I feel like I'm a liar because I'm doubted on if I am or not, taking my meds! This is discrimination in my view, and very humiliating. What are you *******s thinking, taking away someones life? Thats exactly what your doing, by death or by laying in bed 24/7, 365 days a year! Yep, just what I wanted for my last years of retirement! Supported my government with tax money, now they throw us under the bus! I hope they rot in hell, pay their dues before our God Almighty!
