END DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME

Messages Sent So Far
Please stop the messing with our schedules. It's an antiquated practice that only aggravates people. As it is Arizona, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Guam, the Virgin Islands, and America Samoa do not participate in this practice.

For the record: it is Daylight Saving Time, not Daylight Savings Time.

I definitely feel fatigued and have trouble getting up during DST. I feel more rested in the autumn. I'm already ill and don't need the extra stress on my body. Please do away with DST.

The sole original purpose of Daylight-Saving Time was energy conservation for the war effort a hundred years ago. That purpose has been rendered completely obsolete now. We now use LED and fluorescent light they didn't have back then, and we now use air conditioning they didn't have back then, and those two changes alone now mean that it is actually MORE costly to go on DST -- this was proven when Indiana switched to it. Why should Congress force everyone to waste more energy?! And the one thing everyone agrees on is this: Just the switching back and forth part is both unhealthy and dangerous -- it interferes with how we are supposed to be able to adapt slowly to the seasonal change. The idea that DST "creates" more daylight for shopping and recreation is a myth created by greedy industries (mostly golf and barbecue). Here's the truth: Extra daylight for those summer activities is already caused naturally by the change of the season -- but in a naturally gradual manner that does not cause accidents and sleep deprivation. The same is true in the winter -- if we kept Standard Time all year, the shorter days would happen gradually and we wouldn't have the spike in depression caused by it getting dark suddenly. And remember, on year-round Standard time we keep the lighter mornings in winter which kids need for going to school safely. Suppose the whole country had already been on Standard Time year-round for decades now. Can you imagine the public reaction if a few industries were asking the government to force millions of people to wake up an hour earlier than they need to all year long just because these businesses believed they might make a bit more money? Even when it meant that in the winter, kids would have to wait for the morning school bus in the dead of night, plus all our energy costs would increase? How would Daylight Saving Time sound then? This is why the parts of the USA who don’t switch back and forth keep Standard Time year-round. The last guy who tried to make Arizona adopt DST actually got death threats. America should keep Standard Time year-round. Standard Time has a proven track record for serving everyone in Arizona and Hawaii and all those territories just fine. None of their "summer afternoon industries" are hurting for it; they get to watch their 4th of July fireworks at 8pm instead of 9pm; they get a break from the summer heat an hour sooner; and their kids get to wait for the school bus in the daylight on winter mornings. We ALL want that! Please change the federal law and make year-round Standard Time permanent for the whole country.

Please keep the current "daylight savings" time as is. Evening athletics can continue for another month in the Fall.

Please do away with DST. Just when it starts being light at a normal time in the morning, we go back to darkness. And it's not natural for it to be light at 9:30pm.

Standard Time is healthier for us. Get rid of DST or start it later like the end of April, this is way too soon to start it and feels so unnatural!!

We value productivity in America. We are more productive when we have more light at the end of the day. We are healthier so we are able to maintain more production throughout our lifetime. There is more peace in homes when we don’t have to fight internal clocks of children.

I have been having health issues with ashma, ,anxiety and a-fib. My primary doctor says Standard Time is the best time for all mankind to use because the body needs proper care for health reasons . I have a rare and one of a kind Doctor's Note saying that I am a patient of this doctor and this signed note is to verify that Daylight Time is hazardous to your health and to promote Standard Time year round for me and others with disabilities and regular citizens that will be very beneficial in our every day lives. This rare doctor's note is in the Oklahoma House of Representatives to vote to drop Daylight Time and to make Standard Tine permanate in the State of Oklahoma

It is my understanding that the time change began around WW2 to conserve energy. News Flash. WW2 was over a long time ago and so is my patience for a time change that we DO NOT need. It is unhealthy for people, disrupts and messes with children and is aggravating to say the least. Pick a freeking time and stick with it!

May I suggest that the "Spring Forward" take place 2 weeks before Easter so the Americans who must go on long commutes to the place where they work can start their days in daylight as opposed to going abruptly back to spending a part of their weekday mornings in the dark for a few more weeks.

I prefer getting up when at least the sky soon starts to lighten up. I also prefer to ready for bed as the sun is in a deep set. For me I burn more electricity and do not sleep as well on DST.

Standard Time year-round is safer, healthier and less costly. More morning light decreases both sleep deprivation and traffic accidents, and less afternoon light decreases electricity costs from needing to run the A/C longer. Switching clocks causes heart attacks and accidents. The summer days are already long enough without DST; why would we need to SAVE daylight during the season when we have MORE of it?! That makes no sense. Get rid of DST; we don't need it and it hurts people.
