Due to co-morbid conditions without my medication (including 1 opiate ) my blood pressure will rise to the point of stroke, heart attack or aneurysm. Why is my life worth less that of some one who made the choice to become an addict? Who has options for treatment & cure? I'll be sick in my failing body because I was born with a genetic condition that makes it so & has caused a cascade of pain conditions, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. From that disorder I now have CRPS, Fibromyalgia, peripheral neuropathy, osteoarthritis, multiple rounds of melanomas, and 2 failing heart valves & I'm not even 36 years old! I've never abused drugs, yet here I am being punished for people using home made heroin & fentanyl. How is attacking doctors treating medical conditions going to end that? How is turning my life into Hell according to some generically generated scale that can't possibly have all my medical conditions accounted for going to do anything to stop heroin use & home made fentanyl? I'm a mother of 2 step mother of 3 and foster parent of 1. What about the quality of their lives? I'm also a tax paying small business owner. What about the people who won't be able to work & have productive contributory lives in society? My biggest question though is how can this be morally, ethically, or in any way Constitutional in accordance with, "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness"? From personal experience I hope no one else ever has to know, it is impossible to pursue happiness when all you can do is cry from pain & agony that you have never lived without.

If you or one of your loved ones was 'living' in chronic insufferable pain, maybe you would understand. We are NOT the opioid abusers. We just want to be able to have some relief, some quality of life, that taking some of these MEDICATIONS help us get. Give us back that chance. You never know when the day may come you'll be in our position. PLEASE Thank you

I am a mom of three. I have had four back surgeries in less than two years with major complications. It is very scary to think that when my pain level is beyond tolerable I will have nothing to help me and will still have three young children that depend on me. I have never abused drugs in my life. Because of people who have abused drugs others like myself with this debilitating pain have to suffer.

I am an educated, hard working woman. I am a mom, a wife and a valued employee in a fantastic career. I volunteer to the extent that my busy life allows. Well, I guess I should start using past tense for these things. Since the recent changes that have dramatically impacted my doctor's ability to treat my chronic pain, I am afraid, and I am becoming depressed. Yes, I still have a job, but now every day is a struggle. I'm sad and afraid because I am watching my ability to function and add value to (most importantly) my family, as well as my community, slip away because of no wrong doing on my part. My medical treatment should be between me and my doctor and I should not be judged and penalized for the wrong doing of others. There are too many innocent victims having their lives torn apart due to these changes. As I see more and more good people falling apart because they were caught up in this wide spread net (albeit with good intentions), I can't help but fear for what will come next. Yes, the war on drugs is real. But, please consider the impact on the patients - there are too many tragedy stories already because of the recent changes, don't let there be more. Find the balance for the sake of us all.

This is nothing but a war on our rights as patients by big pharma which gets 3x the money for nonnarcotic treatments that are not as effective and have worse side-effects. I have effectively used narcotics for eight years, they work whereas options like gabapentin do not and make me nauseous. I've had three back surgeries and spent thousands on treatments by so-called pain management clinics for procedures that insurance won't cover and deem "experimental". This is not a war on illicit drugs, it's a ploy by big business to grab more profit. While normal Americans are being shoved aside, branded potential criminals, addicts and worse. This is outrageous when you realize that 37,000 Americans die from firearms violence in this country each year and Congress doesn't give a rip. Fewer than 14000 Americans died from misuse of painkillers last year and it's a public health crisis? This is crazy and its driving desperate people to the streets.

I have been suffering from Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome CRPS also known as RSD for 23 years. I have been responsibly taking opiates all that time and have never a used them. Taking away the pain patients drugs will not improve the drug problems we are having. Please consider this when voting on bills to try to solve the problem. We are pain patients not addicts. There have been suicides because people are losing access because of the CDC rulings on opioids.

People that have been in chronic pain for years and have faithfully taken their medications should not be penalized because of pill mills or drug dealers. Many are elderly, retired, worked their entire lives only to now be told they no longer deserve to have relief for their intractable pain.. There will be many people with no choice but to commit suicide or go to the streets to buy their pain medication. I hope none of you ever have a surgery go wrong or a car accident that leaves you suffering from intractable pain..

For any political person.... It's hard to think when one can barely get out of bed! Having a career in Emergency Medical Services for twenty five years, I have seen many deaths and near deaths from Heroin overdoses. I am sad for all the young lives taken by the poisons in a syringe (I've seen too many of those) but that epidemic intervention should not be used as a punishment against good Doctors treating legitimate chronic pain patients or used against these patients! I lost my career because of an accident and injury to my spine. I have had one failed three level 360* spinal fusion. I have been told that a revision surgery is "too risky" I am awaiting an appointment for a second opinion. I have a spinal cord stimulater in my spine and I take medication for chronic pain. I have taken pain medication for four years, same dose, same Doctor. On my worst days I cannot move and everything that touches my legs causes excruciating pain. With a combination of lidocaine patches, pain meds, meds for neuropathy, meds for muscle spasms and my will, I am able to have some quality in my life. Without all of this, I would not want to live! I would not be able to deal with that amount of pain day in and day out. All I ask for is to be comfortable enough to go places with my husband (who hasn't left me yet) to hang out with my children and grandchildren. To take my dog for walks like I used too. Many of us agree that our country needs to do more in helping those that are suffering from addiction. There needs to be more rehab and recovery places that are affordable or better yet covered by insurance. These places need to be nice and committed, not dumping grounds. There has to be a solution to stop the illegal, illicit, synthetic drugs like the fentanyl coming from China across our open borders. More needs to be done to halt the manufacturing of heroin. Go after the suppliers and distributers. Addiction is an illness and needs to be dealt with as such. But our government needs to remember people like me also, over a million strong. We are not addicts! I get absolutely no "high" from my medication. All I get is some relief from pain and some relief is better than none. So, until there is a cure or I wake up miraculously recovered, it is my life. I beseech you to reevaluate the decisions being made at all levels of government. People with chronic pain are being severely hurt by these rules, laws or guidelines through no fault of their own. Permanent injuries and life altering pain can happen to anybody of any age. I believe you will see an increase in drug abuse and addiction because pain patients will turn to whatever means to get relief from their pain. Sadly, I believe you will also see an increase of suicides when pain patients feel neglected, and they feel as though they have no other options. This is already happening! This is becoming a witch hunt on patients and Doctors! What goes on between my Doctor and I should remain that way without interference!

My husband is a former US Marine. He suffers from discectomy removal nerve pain, severe diabetic nerve pain and is in a downhill spiral. He is only 54 years old. I am 10 years younger. Since the DEA has put intense fear in doctors who had treated him & so many others, it has been so very hard on us both. Is is hard to watch him in so much pain and equally as difficult to compensate for his contribution in every way to our household. He went from managed pain which allowed his near normal activity to now zero activity. ZERO. He was a responsible pain patient with solid medical records miles long. He has always been accountable and present for anything he was asked per pain management agreements. Now his care is VA. There's a big problem and joke I cannot begin to describe. We are absolutely fearful of VA after doctors attempted amputation of his foot without even getting an MRI. That foot is still attached & well because I showed up in time. I am struggling with his care because I don't trust VA any longer. With absolutely nothing. I fear that after having to suffer watching his unneeded painful, slow death I will become a widow far too young. What an outrage. It's really sick and disheartening that issues around this subject aren't being handled the right way. Like daily life wasn't hard enough on simple, hard working, tax paying, country serving, law abiding Americas already. For shame!

Just because some idiots decide to commit suicide on pills or herion or miss use one of those two substances. Why should the government think it's their job to make laws and start a war against people when they technically aren't doing anything wrong. Because they aren't hurting anyone. They aren't raping, molesting or killing anybody. I mean seriously these people who are breaking the law and hurting others or stealing the innocence of children should be treated with harsher punishments. And this whole thing where people who use herion because maybe what they have to deal with mentally is so bad and maybe they suffered brain damage and have been living with suicidal thoughts. And the only thing that person may have that gets rid of their suicidal thoughts because of brain damage they suffer from, is herion. Like seriously who is the wacky job that made herion illegal in the first place because a bunch of idiots miss use it and commit suicide so everyone gets punished because of the idiots who can't control themselves or are careless. That goes for taking pills too. If something is going to literally help someone live a better quality of life and not have to suffer why is it illegal or why is it becoming harder for average citizens to get because people ruin their lives on it. Or commit suicide on it or something. Seriously if someone is going to miss use something and end up only hurting themselves who cares. Why would anyone care that someone is retarded and cannot be responsible and let something control their life. Sorry. But the stupid government needs to get out of people's lives with these stupid laws and focus on protecting the American people from evil forces that want to enslave us, experiment on us, take our freedom and make everyone's lives miserable. Like evil Russia and China. Like these idiots who have been allowed to have their freedom would never understand the fear and horror that someone like me has been through because my freedom has been taken. And my right to the pursuit of happiness has been taken.

We allow the medical establishment to prescribe heavy duty drugs to people yet we throw patients in jail for years (basically, giving some the death penalty) for using mild, home grown drugs. Stop this inhumane treatment.

I have taken pain medication for 25 years for my chronic pain. I am a responsible person who shouldn't have to worry if my Dr will discontinue my medication or I will be treated as a drug addict when I go to the pharkacy. With the new laws I am at the mercy of the govt who aren't my Drs.

This war against opioids is a complete nightmare, especially for patients like me. I have SLE lupus, chronic pain disorder, fibromyalgia, as well as nerve damage, sciatica and a tear in my hip . This week I have felt the nightmare our government has started. I recently switched to a rheumatologist who specializes in SLE lupus. My old rheumatologist used to prescribe all my prescriptions including my pain medicine, but he no longer takes my insurance and is way too expensive to continue as his patient. I'm waiting for my appt with the new dr- but the appt isn't for another month. This puts me in a terrible position since I am due for a script for all of the controlled medications. My record is basically perfect, same pharmacy, same doctor as far back as the record goes- with the exception of this month that Ive had exceutatigly painful infection, urgent care prescribed some extra break thru pain meds on top of what I'm already taking. I went to an urgent care first- they denied me any pain medicine for a few weeks saying they don't prescribe it there at all. Then I went to my primary care physician, I was told there I could only have a one day supply.... Which wouldn't do me any good, plus- considering if I fill it, this would look poorly against me on my cures report. Then I went to another urgent care, I had woken up with small lump, and serious pain in my left side. Again I was told they don't prescribe it. But that they could give me 2 days... And again- if I fill it this would look bad on my report. I made a last minute appt with a local pain Doctor. He spoke to me on the phone and said to come in. Once I was there he was looking at my cures report and said since i had been prescribed medications by more than 3 doctors I was now a red flag... However the doctors were my pain dr, a refill from a rheum I had, the urgent care who gave me 30 pills of break thru, and my primary care doctor who has prescribed 10 pills of anxiety medication for a traumatic experience I had. And AGAIN I was told that he would be unable to prescribe me any medication bc I had that break thru medicine, and I was prescribed my multiple doctors- which I such f'in BULL! He also said he thinks I have a problem with my medicine. This doctor had not even been in the room for more than 2min, he had only looked up my cures report. I hadn't asked any personal questions, or anything. Then he said he could help me by prescribing suboxone..... I sobbed, it was a Friday afternoon, since he told me over the phone he would see me and prescribe me my meds after looking up my report.... I didn't see a point in calling around for a last min appt. This Doctor had wasted my whole day when I could've tried to see a difference Doctor. Now it's a Saturday the pain in my side has become unbareable and I have none of my medications. I know the ER won't give me a month prescription either. I am a good patient, I've never had any problems, I don't Doctor shop, or usually fill from more

I did notify congress n was referred back to President of University of Incarnate Word, who is a problem; (ie... Received threatening calls from a staff member of his; that man knows everything going on at that campus; on another occasion, I reported to police a small red light aimed at head of my bed!!!! When I reported to congress I was instructed to speak with President of University of incarnate Word (where graduated from n still denied transcript; was overcharged $47 grand on student loans of which I paid off two years after graduating n showed proof to congres!!!! As of yet, no refund; no transcript!!!! I graduated in May 1989, scoring highest on NCLEX n at State Board of Nursing!!!! With shortage of nurses every where... This does not make any sense; when I notified via phone ( also wrote congress showing proof of overcharge!! Are gangsters running this nation????? I saw documentary on Late President Kennedy & his brother!!! That nation is pretty messed up! I sincerely pray laws are made with strong Christians with honorable respectable self disciplined members in State Offices-- for this "once called, & (oh so long ago), Great Nation!"
