This is not the answer. How can you be so cruel and heartless? I myself have CRPS which causes severe, unrelenting, constant pain. Shocking pain. I was fortunate to have had a miraculous remission and no longer needed pain pills. My disease has returned this past year, but there is no cure. How can you do this to people that already suffer? I pray in the future, when my pain is unbearable you have not succeeded. I pray for all the people who suffer that you stop this madness.

I wish all of you that are doing this had to live a day in our lives and I guarantee you would have a different outlook and attitude towards narcotic pain medications! I have CRPS that is in my left leg from my saccrum to my foot that has constant, non stop burning, sharp, swelling and often cannot even have clothes on. I also have a herniated disc at c5-c6 which cause unbearable headaches and I am no longer able to drive because just being in the car starts a severe headache. My CRPS has spread, due to the herniated disc, to my entire right shoulder, neck, lower rigjt side of back and down my arm. I will lose feeling in my hand for days or even just the act of holding my cell phone causes my entire hand to feel like it is being poked with pins and needles. I also have bile duct issues from the CRPS and they are concerned it has moved to my organs which is not good for me. The FDA needs to back off our pain medications and work on helping get cures pushed through instead of the long 10 year wait. There is a cure for CRPS that has been used in Europe for years with almost a 100% success rate but it is going to take another 10 years to bring it here. We need to change policies on approving new drugs(ones that are currently used widely in Europe) and treatmentsfwidely used in Europe) and get the approval time moved way down vs a completely new drug/treatment that was just invented. Until you make serious changes leave our only lifeline alone as you are now forcing us to choose:do we live in excruiting pain, do we commit suicide or do we goto to the streets to get our meds which puts us at risk for breaking the law to get something we should be allowed to have or us getting the tainted medications amd it kills us. This is all on the govt and there will be consequences from your actions. Wait until people start dying faster when they are completely denied access to narcotics and they die;you will be sued as well as anyone that denied them their mediction that is written in the doctors hypocrtic oath to do no harm when that is exactly what you are doing!

I have been I'll with Trigeminal neuralgis, atypical trigeminal neuralgia, and geniculate neuralgia. I have had 3 brain surgeries, and more nerve blocks than I can remember! The only thing that has worked is medications, although it's my 5th, 7th and 9th facial nerve. Trigeminal neuralgia is called "the suicide disease". It's progressive disease. Without my medications, I will not be alive. Please consider people such as myself in your regulations!!!

In 2008, I had three back operations in three months. One operation was to fix my lower back and the other two were to remove staph infection. I have had chronic pain for eight years taking Percocet and Morphine for pain. These medications allowed me to have decent quality of life and I have followed my pain contract with my doctor to the letter. Taking them away ensures I will be in bed 24/7. Taking away medications from legitimate responsible users to stop people obtaining drugs illegally is absolute the most illogical thing the government has ever done. We have people with absolutely NO medical background making decisions that should be left with the doctor and patient. Many people losing the medications they need to control their pain will lose heart and commit suicide but nobody seems to even care about that. It's all about stopping people who can't be stopped. Crooks will always have guns and illegal drugs.

Chronic pain prevents me, along with many patients, from participating in simple activities of daily living. Imagine this: you need an opiate to obtain enough relief that you can shower, shave, sweep the floor, OR maybe cook a meal. You have 2 pain pills to use in a day, and need to budget those to do only the absolute least amount of 'work' possible. The DEA is declaring a war on prescription opiates and turning blind eye to the patients who depend on them to live. And good job making medical marijuana a non-option on the federal level. Instead of being able to TRY a natural source of pain relief such as CBD oil, I'm threatened with termination of prescription pain meds if there is even a trace of THC in my system. So, let's instead throw anti-seizure meds, dangerous NSAIDs and potentially deadly, less effective medication at us. Why? So you can have a cut of the revenue? WAKE UP, WASHINGTON!!! You're killing us. Literally. People have intractable pain, and are committing suicide because they can no longer take the pain. How long are you going to allow us to suffer? Our pets are treated more humanely than we are.

Millions of patients have taken opioids responsibly for decades to work, function, care for themselves, and their families; without becoming addicted or increasing their dosage. It was a doctor-patient relationship that didn't involve public scrutiny and shaming! Now you've involved everyone BUT the patient who's in pain and the results are disastrous. Many painful, disabling conditions receive no research or funding. The alternative to opioids are costly, expensive invasive injections and procedures, at an enormous cost to Medicare and Medicaid, and to patients and their families as well. It's crippling the United States budget! This makes no economic sense whatsoever! Please stop vilifying opioids and the people who need them to have some semblance of a life.

???????????????????????????????????????????????????????? I am writing to you today regarding your vote on SB524/HR953 Comprehensive Addiction & Recovery Act of 2016. Please reconsider your vote in favor of this bill. Having a career in Emergency Medical Services for twenty five years, I have seen many deaths and near deaths from Heroin overdoses. I am sad for all the young lives taken by the poisons in a syringe (I've seen too many of those) but that epidemic intervention should not be used as a punishment against good Doctors treating legitimate chronic pain patients or used against these patients! I lost my career because of an accident and injury to my spine. I have had one failed three level 360* spinal fusion. I have been told that a revision surgery is "too risky" I am awaiting an appointment for a second opinion. I have a spinal cord stimulater in my spine and I take medication for chronic pain. I have taken pain medication for four years, same dose, same Doctor. On my worst days I cannot move and everything that touches my legs causes excruciating pain. It feels like my skin is being ripped off of my legs. On my best days I am never 100% pain free. I wake up daily with pain in my lower back. Then as my day progresses the pain gets worse with everything I do. With a combination of lidocaine patches, pain medication, medication for neuropathy, medication for muscle spasms and my sheer will, I am able to have some quality in my life. Without all of this, I would not want to live! I would not be able to deal with that amount of pain day in and day out. All I ask for is to be comfortable enough to go places with my husband (who hasn't left me yet) to hang out with my children and grandchildren. To take my dog for walks like I used too. Many of us agree that our country needs to do more in helping those that are suffering from addiction. There needs to be more rehab and recovery places that are affordable or better yet covered by insurance. These places need to be nice and committed, not dumping grounds. There has to be a solution to stop the illegal, illicit, synthetic drugs like the fentanyl coming from China across our open borders. More needs to be done to halt the manufacturing of heroin. Go after the suppliers and distributers. Addiction is an illness and needs to be dealt with as such. But our government needs to remember people like me also, over a million strong. We are not addicts! I get absolutely no "high" from my medication. All I get is some relief from pain and some relief is better than none. So, until there is a cure or I wake up miraculously recovered, it is my life. I beseech you to reevaluate the decisions being made at all levels of government. People with chronic pain are being severely hurt by these rules, laws or guidelines through no fault of their own. Permanent injuries and life altering pain can happen to anybody of any age. I believe you will see an increase in drug abuse and addiction because pain patients wil

update from spanish fort, al I am a law abiding taxpayer citizen, dr. prescribes following insurance 3 step program pain med that insurance will cover, reminder dr. prescribed pain med for husband prior to and was told insurance would not cover but could still purchase out of pocket, cost $80.00 which when covered it was $5.00 before FDA's restrictions, now following what insurance filled prescription that insurance said was covered following part A prescription price $99.00, what is wrong with this picture, far better off purchasing uncovered prescription than purchasing covered prescription husband scheduled to have lithrotripsy next thursday, FDA has caused undo stress upon lawful taxpayer citizens in need of health care, you wonder why I use statements like Insurance is the Cartel........crooked systems empower humans to fight back ....when are these money hungry systems (hedgefunds) going to realize there are far more people who are poor, middle class than the very rich who would win the war if all had weapons and fought, the crooked system- humans need to educate themselves this is not a free america it is being controlled by powers beyond and not for the good of the people and america. Time to open minds before their political correctness destroys humankind. Like I said before human will end humankind. NOW IF YOU WOULD FOCUS ON THE ILLEGAL DRUG DISPENSERS EVEN A BAD SEED IN MEDICAL FIELD, FOCUS ON THOSE WHO MISUSED MEDICATION FOR WRONG REASON YES I WOULD SUPPORT THIS LAW THAT THEY HAVE IMPOSED EXCEPT ONE PORTION OF THE LAW, DO NOT EMPLOY YOU LAW OF THE PHYSICIANS WHO FAR OUTWAY THE OATH THEY TOOK BEFORE PRACTICING MEDICINE THAN THE FEW WHO WAYWARD FOR PERSONAL PROFIT. PHYSICIANS ARE LIKE LAWENFORCEMENTS NOT BEING RECOGNIZED THE DANGER THEY PUT THEMSELVES IN EVERYDAY COMING IN CONTACT WITH DEADLY DISEASE THROUGH SPUTUM FECES BLOOD WHO ARE ILL FOR GOODNESS SAKES YOU HAVE PUT THE FEAR OF PRACTICING MEDS TO THESE EDUCATED PROFESSIONAL MEDICAL PEOPLE WHO ARE THERE TO HELP HUMAN RACE! YOU DO NOT PUNISH HUMANS TO MAKE A DOLLAR!

opening up law suit in the making- fact husband has idiopathic fibrosis, diabetes, only 40% left side of heart working, protein c deficiency, CHF, high blood pressure & suffer of multiple kidney stones. Pain prescription writtenby physician pharmacy says insurance wont pay has to go through 3 step program, it clearly is evident that the job of non physicians at insurance companies playing doctor in order to question a physicians diagnosis and what level of pain the patient needs for relief until the stone passes or lithrotripsy is performed. Husband on multiple medicines for all above diagnosises, what once was a $5.00 prescription you can still purchase but for $80.00 out of pocket because insurance states 3 step process what is street value illegally doing some research. 62 yr old man my husband with a death sentence with idopathic pulmanary fibrosis - if I did not have the $80.00 to buy it out of pocket and the strain of stress of pure evil pain killed him before disease is a lawsuit that is in the making. No human has a right to determine what anybodies level of pain is, that should be left up to physcians who went to college for a long time and interned so they could help people. Granted there is always a bad seed in every profession there is because there are humans that seek control, money, and not follow the laws since beginning of government times. FDA has no right to impose death sentences on humans FDA allowed distribution in first place of pain releivers and all other medications, FDA needs to reconsider to punish the cartels, punish drug pushers, punish any illegal activity regarding meds, but you have no right to take a patients right away to be given pain relief when needed and also for those that do not want to go thru senseless operations such as diagnoses of back degeneration disease bone spurs only for the spurs to return 4 years later and bigger and another operation. you cannot impose antidepressants for pain relief, study shows only works for some but from placebo effect to antidepressant effects and the damage they do overall to body far out way painrelivers. Deaths from overdose per year is so much lower for years than deaths from smoking related disease, cancer, circulatory, makes me in my opinion....CONTROL was the wrong answer to the medical field, you have caused less students applying to be physicians and less students applying to nurses but goal as i stated before my opinion as a taxpaying citizen you listened and you have now turned medicine into a political correctness which I call control for the best interest in the biggest business in the world called INSURANCE COMPANIES which I believe are the Cartels for Greed and Control. I am ashamed at Americans that are in high positions . when are you gong to realize that you cannot forever control man. Decisions made like this is only going to create war between man. It has been said more than once, man is going to destroy mankind. I believe it s in the works,

I have been taking pain medication for 20 years. My doctor stopped taking my insurance. While looking for a new doctor I went into pain management. 3 herniated bulging disks in my neck. Facial nerve damage, arthritis. Knees r shot. My pain doctor was arrested on bogus charges. They fired one of his associates. He's back but I find my appointment cancelled and I cannot find anybody to help me. I'm afraid I may end up buying illegal scripts. They r all over. So far I'm struggling ok. I hear of withdrawals and am afraid, praying that doesn't hit me as well. I have a feeling that's the least of my worries. I do not believe this doctor did anything wrong. I had to have a lot of tests taken before he he helped me. I say I'm desperate to just be able to keep my job. Well I guess I will find out how long I can survive. Thank you DEA for all my suffering. I know I'm not alone.

My med's allow me to be somewhat functional. I am still in pain, but without them I would be trapped in bed in agony. Thank you

The inhumane way we are treated isn't an isolated thing once in a while, it's every encounter with filling our meds, the Drs we have who not just doubt us but treat us with contempt and have no amount of understanding what living with this constant intense pain is no different than torture going unaddressed in a time and age that we have the ability to pull out all stops and circle us to encourage us to live a quality life. Instead we have Drs who treat us with contemp because theyre being told this suffering isn't real. Nobody is helpping chronic pain patients! Please help us!
