How could you let us all suffer?! Politics and pain don't belong together, go after the addicts, not punish innocent people who suffer with severe pain!! I was hit by a truck, now my spine is titanium, how do you think I feel? Especially when my pain management doctor cuts off the medication that helped me to have a small portion of my life. My doctor is afraid to treat his patients because of the government sticking their nose where it doesn't belong. A bunch of puppets who know nothing about what it feels like to live with crushing pain!! What a disgrace! I will voice myself as much as I can during my severe pain!! I've got nothing better to do since I'm bed ridden most of my life. Thanks a lot!!!

I’ve broken 11 bone punctures a lung have 6 titanium plates in my body and being an emergency surgery they cut through all my nerves. I live with pain everyday. Without medication I would not be able to live a healthy life and go to work and be a contributing citizen. People need certain meds to live happy and healthy and to take that away would cause o of people going to government and state aid. I don’t think we need more people living for free in our country

Being accused of drug seeking, I wasn't diagnosed with nerve root compression in time for a decompression. I didn't even want a controlled substance because it would be foolish to become involved in the cluster f#! going on right now. If I wanted to get narcotics I would be smarter than to go to a Dr and say I have hip/leg/foot pain. I know what sciatica is having lived with it off & on for 15yrs. Because of the mess created by ignorant "leaders", I am now a member of the chronic pain community. Thanks for that. My life isn't much fun or productive anymore but I have my own way to handle certain things without help from the medical community. But I sure as hell will keep getting all the useless treatments. Lots and lots of appointments, prescriptions (drug take back days come in handy for them). Gonna get physical therapy, psych therapy, chiro. Now that I can't work I have time for all of the appointments & can afford my co-pays.

I have been a chronic pain patient since 2007 when I was hit with transverse myelitis. Before I never took and kind of pain medication. But this is fine I'm not here about me it's about my sister and mother. My sister has CRPS the suicide disease and my mom has had nine back surgeries. My sister was the corner stone of her house hold and still trying to be. While she is married she has always held her family together. There are weeks that go by I can't get her to call me back because shes done with the pain. My mom well her doctor took her dose she had been on for 7 years and cut it by 2/3's in one day and I watched her go through the withdraws. I would encourage you to watch someone go through this maybe it will help your stance on this. I'm. Lineman and have been for 20 years and still am as i push myself to make a living to raise my three beautiful daughters. I like many others have felt the affect of this policy. I myself believe I contracted my transverse myelitis form working the aftermath of Katrina when they lined us up like sheep and gave us "vaccines" yes I said it happened in 07 but everyone know it can lay dormant in the spine till it messes your world up. Dont be a bunch of *******s, there is a difference between an addict and a patient.

I have been on pain meds for chronic pain since 1994. Since the doctor has been seeming my dosage I have been so miserable. My blood pressure has gotten out of hand. It was 192/94 when I went for my check up . I can't function. Pain messes up a person body and makes the person wish for anything to keep them from the pain. Some have resorted to suicide. Please stop this. Punishing patients that are not abusing our privilege to be as comfortable as possible. The meds just make the pain tolerable . Please help us continue to get the relief we need the opioid epedimic should not be hung on the backs of GENUINE pain ridden folks who don't sell their medicines. We need HELP.

I am a chronic pain patient and want to be treated with simple, human dignity. I am NOT an addict. My MEDICATION does not make me ‘high’; nor do I give away or sell my Rx. Addiction to ‘Anything’ is typified by a loss of control. This is often played out by the individual in secret. That is emphatically not the case with chronic pain patients. Our Rx information is available to all healthcare providers. So no privacy there. We are subjected to overall lack of trust by our government resulting in Dr’s policing us with urine tests, saliva tests, pill counts, lack of compassion by pharmacists & clerks, labeling as addicts. No privacy there either. We’ve had our medications reduced by fearful doctors. Arbitrarily reduced coverage for our MEDICATIONS by our ‘health’ insurance providers, often with no warning. The constant mistrust, labeling & scrutiny is extremely stressful. The stress often ramps up the pain. It’s a vicious cycle that causes undo suffering. Many of us have been using pain management treatment modality to help manage our pain. As a group, we come to the point of using opioids simply because Nothing. Else. Works. And the thing is, my pain does not completely go away. The pain is brought down to a manageable level. Honestly if any patient who is diabetic, epileptic, or a heart patient had to endure what a chronic pain patient has to endure there would be open revolt because of all of the scrutiny. With unremedied pain we are unable to engage in Life in meaningful ways. Our MEDICATION allows us to have ‘normal’ lives, independent lives. Lives that the average healthy citizen takes for granted - simple things such as work, preparing a meal, caring for our children and partners, taking a walk. I am completely honest & open with ALL of my doctors. I am completely honest & open with my family about my conditions & all medications. My Doctor is a trained professional, not a criminal. I am a human being, a patient, not a criminal. I want to be treated with simple, human dignity.

The war on opioids is unfair to responsible pain patients I have a rare form of scoliosis that is so bad they will not even consider any treatment or surgery only meds which I am restricted in the amount I can have now and in danger of being cut off completely because I don't have cancer. Again this is the only treatment for relief from my condition I am offered there are days I spend in tears and curled up in a ball because I have progressed beyond the point that my current meds give relief. My meds were cut back 3 yrs ago and I am not allowed an increase of another form if pain meds because I'm not dying

HOW CAN YOU JUSTIFY UNQUALIFIED PEOPLE, THAT HAVE NO BUSINESS MAKING "MEDICAL" DECISIONS LIKE THE PRESIDENT, SENATOR'S, CONGRESSMEN OR GOVERNOR'S, "NOT OUR DOCTOR'S" CASUALLY SITTING AROUND A TABLE DICTATING WHAT 140 MILLION "INDIVIDUAL" CHRONIC PAIN PATIENT'S NEED FOR THEIR PAIN?? I CANNOT EVEN FATHOM HOW WE HAVE GOT TO THIS POINT?! THIS IS BARBARIC AND INHUMANE! QUIT HONESTLY IT IS IGNORANT... I have had CRPS for over 5 years now. CRPS is Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, a chronic pain disease that makes the nerves constantly misfire telling the brain that there is pain. There is no cure and the only thing we can do with this disease is try and manage our pain. I have tried therapy, nerve blocks and facet injections with no success. Opioid medications gave me my life back after CRPS took over my legs and feet. The difference is being confined to my house and crying in pain 24/7, 365 or taking an opioid medication. I choose to be able to walk outside with my dog or to the mail box without pain. The are also other chronic pain conditions that keep so many people from living a "quality of life" that many take for granite!! YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT TRUE CHRONIC DEBILITATING PAIN IS...IF YOU DID, THIS WOULD NOT BE HAPPENING! CPP's (chronic pain patients) are suffering needlessly because of the new "guidelines" put out by the CDC and FDA etc...why is the government dictating what and how much our doctor's can prescribe?! We can NOT be put in a "one size fits all" category when it comes to chronic pain. We are all individuals and should be treated as so. Doctor's are now dropping patients and or taking away their opioid medications that they have been on for years. CPP's take their medication out of medical necessity not for recreation! The problem isn't with the CPP that is prescribed pain medication, the problem is drug abusers using illicit drugs like fentanyl and heroin to get "high" and end up dying. The CPP's are the ones losing here!! Why are our lives being taken way because of irresponsible drug abusers!! This a travesty and an injustice to all CPP's...it has to STOP NOW! HEAR OUR PAIN!! 140 million people take opioids for chronic pain in a responsible way without abusing or selling them. This is our lives we are talking about here. Many people are now contemplating suicide as a means to end of their pain. Exempt chronic pain patients from the scrutiny and inhumanity associated with the laws created for those who may be abusing drugs...NOT CHRONIC PAIN PATIENTS! Let the doctors practice medicine as they see fit, not according to a non-specific percentage mandated by the FDA. Medical decisions must be left to the doctor and patient! GIVE US OUR LIVES BACK AND STOP PUNISHING CHRONIC PAIN PATIENTS NOW!!

Please Don't take whatever Quality of Life I have!! I was born with a Degenerative Bone Disease so I suffered my whole life. Then I had a Total Hip Replacement that ended up being one of the "Defective Mechanisms" that DePuy, Stryker, Biomet & a couple more Manufacturers had been sued for because they had caused many Patients to have lots of Pain or even Die from the metal that was getting into People's Blood Streams. So I tried to do the "Right" thing & Have a Hip Replacement so that I could walk again without Pain but I NEVER EVER expected to be in this situation because of a Crappy Piece of metal that was Surgically put into my body & has caused whatever Quality of Life I did have before that Hip Replacement to Ruin My LIfe!!! I am now in a wheelchair, I have had "3" Hip Replacements, "14" Revision Surgeries, suffered a Broken Pelvis & have been Battling numerous Hip Infections all stemming from that Piece of Garbage that was suppose to make me "Better" turned my Life in to a "Living Hell"!!! I have done everything possible to get some relief without my pain medications - Numerous Nerve Blocks, Acupuncture, Wash Out Surgeries & anything else that my Pain Management Doctor recommends. So the last resort was putting me on Pain Medications for my Chronic Pain. That was in "2004" and I HAVE NEVER EVER EVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH MY PAIN MEDICATIONS!! I FOLLOW THE RULES THAT MY DOCTOR PUT ON ME WHEN HE PUT ME ON THESE MEDICATIONS!!! So for you to take my medications away from "ME" the "RESPONSIBLE" Chronic Pain Patient is REALLY, REALLY UPSETTING!!! There are so many of Us out there that have been on Pain Medications for years because of the Bad Hand that we have been dealt from being Born into a Body that isn't the normal, victimized by an Irresponsible Manufacturer, hit by a car or some kind of Trauma that "ISN'T" most of our faults!! I understand that there are people Dying Daily but its not because of Prescription Pain Medication - its because of their own "Stupidity"!! The Pill doesn't jump out of the bottle in their mouth they make that Conscious decision to be an Idiot & take their Pain Medications like they ARE NOT SUPPOSE TO TAKE THEM!! They shoot them into their arms with other crap, they Drink Alcohol(when on the bottle it says to not consume alcohol with these meds) or they "Sell" their medications to Junkies for the all mighty dollar. I have NEVER EVER Done any of these things & I Hate being Scared all the time that I am going to lose whatever quality of Life I have been able to have because of my Pain Medications being taken away from me because of the "IRRESPONSIBLE" patients Stupidity!!! I Hate being treated like I'm kind of Street Junkie or put in the "Irresponsible" Patient Category. I Hope that you will change they way you are handling this So-called Opioid Epidemic because I Promise You that you will be starting a whole other Epidemic & that will be a "Suicide Epidemic" from Chronic Pain Patients killing themselves because the Pain is too Horrible to Handle. Please Hear Our Voices & I am Begging You to NOT TAKE AWAY OUR PAIN MEDICATIONS & PLEASE LEAVE OUR PAIN DOCTORS ALONE & LET THEM TREAT US WITHOUT BEING AFRAID THAT THEY WILL GO TO JAIL FOR DOING ALL THEY CAN TO HELP US!!! We are so tired of fighting for our healthcare! Chronic pain patients must be included in any decisions made by the government about our opioid medications that allow us to function and give us a somewhat productive life. CDC Guidelines must be re-written. FDA must stop replacing opioid medications that used to work for us with abuse-deterrent formulas that do not work. DEA must stop this ridiculous hunt for doctors who truly work with chronic pain patients. The government, Congress included, must stay out of the doctor-patient relationship! The quality of my life was so much better before the government ruined everything!

This has to stop. Legislating medicine is killing people. I’ve had RSD for almost 21 years. I was lucky to have a great doctor. We tried many things, and settled on PT, biofeedback and Opioid medication. I’ve been able to live a full life because of Opioid meds. Killing off pain patients is not helping the Opioid problem. THAT is a street drug problem. There’s a huge difference between pain patients and addicts. Stop grouping us together. Look into the CDC Guidelines and how they were secretly passed, the junk science they used and the anti-Opioid zealots who pushed for it.

New documentary telling the other side of "opioid crisis" coming out, Pandemic of Denial by filmmakers Tina Petrova and Eugene Weis. All need to see what is really happening to us out here. Explains how those that suffer intractable pain in North America now outnumber heart disease, cancer & diabetes patients combined. Explains the loss of care for chronic pain sufferers. The "forgotten ones", and the doctors who uphold their Hippocratic oath by treating patients with opioids are threatened with loss of license and even jail. Are the human rights of pain patients being sacrificed for politically expedient policies? Pain patients face a life long battle with no cure in sight, building their lives around managing pain. It could be you in a flash, one care accident, surgery away from joining this suffering crowd. A "one size fits all" approach is morally wrong. These words are taken from release on film.

I am suffering excruciating pain daily because my doctor is afraid to continue writing my prescriptions. It took a very long time to get the correct combination of medication that enabled me to work, spend time with my grandchildren, friends, attend church and other social events.. Now, I have no quality of life. I spend most of my time in a recliner with a heating pad or ice pack wondering why I am willing to keep going. I can no longer afford insurance because I barely am able to work. Please think before you make statements and vote on legislation that affects so many suffering people. Our doctors have the training to know what is best for us and they have the benefit of our medical records and you do not. I understand there is a drug problem in this country but I am not the problem, heroin and drugs from other countries are the problem! Not the medication I WAS prescribed. My doctor said how sorry he was, he knew I needed it but he went to school a long time and just could not risk his license, Please HELP!!

My wife and I have been married 56 years and she, an retired RN, has suffered 17 years with chronic chest wall pain seeking treatment at 26 renowned clinics. This past summer we were told we could no longer obtain pain meds. After titration this past November her previous controllable pain increased from 4 to uncontrollable 9 resulting in severe psychic condition to escape the pain. Now doctors want to use electric shock to bring her back to suffer pain even longer. I have lost my wife's company due to stupidity over opioid use.

There are pain diseases that cannot be treated with shots, surgery, or other meds. Responsible use can allow someone to walk in home, wash dishes, or bathe. Stop penalizing ppl.

I am suffering because CDC, DEA, PROP decided pain patients were causing the opioid crises, WRONG! I KEEP my medications in a lock box or did before being cut back 80% in medications. Doctors are so afraid of DEA raids they've stopped prescribing opioids except for Suboxone. Its not for pain. Why are people in pain being punished? Why are addicts lives more important than mine?! I was a working productive person, now I'm using a walker. Why isn't my life important?

We are treated like criminals, forced to submit to humiliation via urine screenings prior to obtaining medication and whenever the prescribing doctor wants to force us through it. Our body should not be subjected to unwarranted search and seizure! We deserve to be treated with compassion and kindness, not distrust and cruelty! It's the only health condition in which you're guilty until proven innocent!
