I don't see how this isn't covered under the right to privacy guaranteed by the US constitution. Our bodies, our decisions. We have a right to give informed consent for safe and effective treatment. The FDA has found these drugs meet those burdens and can be legally prescribed by a qualified physician. Yet everyday I see the reality so many are living with. No treatment is not treatment!! Its appalling what CDC and DEA have created. Patients are suffering, our vets are suffering needlessly. I now can say that I have seen truely baseless hysteria in action in the non-evidence based actions of my own government. How profoundly disappointed I am.

Why are Ses not subjective. Across the board reduction for chronic pain sufferers does nothing! Why punish those who need pain relief? Go after the illegal truck traffickers. This is insanity. Because a portion abuse, then everyone should pay? Where's the logic. Suicide to end pain? Great

Please understand that there is a community of people who suffer from real, legitimate chronic pain who have fallen victim to these policies. There needs to be a more efficient way of weeding out the abusers vs. chronic pain patients. Please listen to our plea.

For five years of living with excruciating joint pain from Ehlers Danlos syndrome, I have been a pain management patient, and my life has been made livable ONLY by the help of opiate pain medication. I use it responsibly. I don't share or sell it. I've only changed dosages and amounts ONCE in five years, and it was to REDUCE my prescription because I wasn't taking as much once my pain was controlled.... It is horrific and unfair to treat people like myself as if we are criminals simply for wanting to live with SOME escape for the horrific nonstop pain caused by illnesses we didn't ask to have. The government crack downs aren't just "going after drug addicts"- it's actively telling people like myself that we would be better off dead as you're making it damn near impossible to continue our care by making doctors TERRIFIED to continue treating us. Emergency rooms act like we are criminals until they get our book-sized histories sent over. We are tired of trying to explain that we deserve BASIC HUMAN RUGHTS, and not being in pain that makes you want to DIE 24/7 should be one of those rights!

If you think restricting my access to meds helps anyone else, then you're a callous jerk.

I have lived with severe chronic pain for over 10 years stemming from severe arthritis and spinal injuries suffered in construction and auto accidents. I'm 62 now and getting worse. I've seen my primary Dr EVERY MONTH! I've never "lost" my Rx's, nor reported them stolenand my dog has never eatin' them! My Dr and I have adjusted and discussed my meds every month but now he's afraid of the CDC! i was reffered to "pain management" after 10 years of a Dr now I was seeing an Arnp! The "clinic" was closed by the DEA last month for many reasons. WHAT DO I DO NOW!?

I copied & pasted part of this from the "Pain News Network" Because I feel it is important information and should be seen by everyone. Though it is not a fancy study done by scientifically by doctors it was done by people in search of the truth. That want to know about the very real pain & suffering being inflicted on the chronic pain patient community. Responsible chronic pain patients with real pain are suffering & dying from unrelieved pain as a result of the CDC barbaric & discriminating guidelines. It has caused a basic state of prohibition on opioid pain medications. The chronically ill & injured replied to this survey attempting to get their silenced voices heard. To put a stop to the senseless torture of unrelieved pain chronic pain patients have been forced into. Their lives are in your hands you can stop their needless suffering. You can prevent these suicides that are caused only because of unrelieved pain. I hope you are willing to listen. I hope you are willing to call a mistake a mistake and stop the intense pain & suffering. Putting an end to all the unrelieved pain suicides. So these senseless deaths of innocent pain patients can stop. Are you willing to help all the chronic intractable pain patients get their pain care their pain medications restored until better pain medications options can be developed? I hope you will it is the only humane way to treat chronic pain patients. Especially when they have not done anything wrong to warrant the loss of their opioid pain medications. This is some of the Pain news network story: "Over two-thirds of pain patients say their opioid medication has been decreased or stopped since the CDC adopted its opioid prescribing guidelines, according to a new survey that also found over half of the patients have considered suicide since the guidelines were implemented." "A total of 1,978 patients participated in the survey, which was conducted through social media and online support groups in recent weeks. The survey was designed by Lana Kirby, a Florida paralegal and chronic pain sufferer who became frustrated by difficulties she faced in obtaining opioid pain medication." "Although unscientific, the survey results are the first broad indication of the impact the CDC guidelines are having on both physicians and patients. Those guidelines, which discourage primary care doctors from prescribing opioids for chronic pain, are meant to be voluntary but are being widely implemented by many different prescribers, according to survey." ?To a person, respondents report that they feel humiliated, degraded, shamed, and stigmatized by the loss of choice over their physician patient alliance and program of care,? said Terri Lewis, PhD, a patient advocate and researcher who conducted an analysis of the survey." ?Many now acknowledge that their doctor?s appointment conversation is all about keeping the physician safe from DEA oversight or license restrictions as opposed to optimizing the consu

It should be up to the Doctor to know his patients enough to know wheaten or not pain medication is being abused. I have been fighting chronic back pain for more than 25 years. You can't understand what we go thru until you experience this type of ongoing pain. I can't even leave my home in the cold months.

I have peripheral neuropathy in my feet, and starting in my hands. It started in 1995 due to Antivirals for HIV, and has severly worsened in the last 5 years due to neuropathy from diabetes, which started 6 years ago due to a change in antivirals. Four of the five antivirals had diabetes as a side effect. Was on vicodan for 4 years, and was cut off beginning of this, year. In pain most of the time now, or so tired from the medications , that don't always work, that have NO energy, and can barely get out of bed and fix something to eat...no quality of life. At this point am considering stopping the antvirals, what's the point, maybe my end will come sooner. Ironic, a longterm surviver of HIV, hobbled by lack of proper pain medication, due to diabetes used to fight the HIV virus.

Medicate me from my pain or kill me. You might not to have to wait long. Maybe the stress and medical mistreatment will take me first.
