I lost me in 2001. The life I knew was no more.an active wife, mother, daughter to aging parents, volunteer to disabled woman, full time RU in a busy orthopedic practice. Yearly white water rafting trips with my husband. Horse enthusiast owing 4 horses.2001, the year of 9/11 and the year I was diagnosed with chronic fatigue. It took an hour to put on scrubs, socks, and shoes in order to get to work. Days spent on the side of the road because I was so tired and sleepy that I couldn't drive home. Pain ruled my life. In defiance against what was happening to me, I rebelled. The last time I W's on my horse was in July of 2002. I spent the next five days in so much pain that I couldn't walk. Home alone I had to crawl to the bathroom.no one would choose to suffer the lost of oneself only to be replaced by a world of pain. No hugs, no pats on the back, rare sex accompanied by so much pain that in my forties I could count on one hands the times I was with my husband. I have taken pain pills, starting with Dar vice until it was removed then on to Lora tab and eventually Norco. I will not live without pain control! !!! Like many suicide will be my only option. Please reconsider your stance on narcotics for chronic pain sufferers.Jul 5th, 2016Someone from Columbus, OH signed.

Failed spinal fusion 1989. Stage 4 cancer throat and lung. Do not let the government fool you this failed Opioid War has also discriminated against cancer and palliative care. Pain is pain the government has failed us and violated our rights. Legitimate pain sufferers suffer endlessly we are entitled to the basic essential medications. Stop denying us the right to life.REPORT COMMENTS

I suffer from Complex Regional Pain Sydrome, also known as CRPS. It is rated as the highest pain you can suffer on the McGill Pain Index. I have this pain 24 hours a day, seven days a week. There are no breaks. I have found some relief with opioid and have used them for 5 years with no problems yet all of a sudden I am being taken off them because the government has made doctors too scared to do what is right for their patients. All this will do is harm legitimate pain patients while the addicts will just find something else to take or get what they want illegally. The CDC has no right to infringe on my medical care and decisions about my treatment options!REPORT COMMENTS

Let's not forget people who really need pain meds. We should not be treated like criminals. We have to suffer for the ones who abuse. This is completely wrong.REPORT COMMENTS

I have been a chronic pain patient suffering with RSD for 15 years. I've never gone to an emergency room, more than 1 DR at a time or bought illegal drugs. To now live in fear of my Dr reducing my pain meds based on general stats that apply to true pain patients is horrifying. Those of us, which is the majority, do follow the rules. We don't take our meds to get high, we take them to function at the lowest level we can. If I could throw away ALL my meds and return to the life I had prior, I would in a heartbeat, but that's not an option for me or any of us. No where in any of these discussions do they include our other medications which can also have deadly side effects, but we live with all of it. So now, we fight our bodies, our family and friends don't understand, Dr.'s don't want to prescribe pain meds, the CDC Is involved, the DEA is involved....where do we find any peace in such a painful existence?? Most of us are doing are best to survive as it is, take our pain medications and there will be another statistic to look at: Suicide.REPORT COMMENTS

By implementing these new guidelines, the CDC and FDA has only hurt millions of Americans who suffer terribly with pain. American doctors should be ashamed of themselves by agreeing to these new rules. Is it not in the original Hippocratic Oath " I will abstain from all intentional wrong-doing and harm." ?? I have friends and family that have been denied their pain meds, their lives have changed drastically, no longer leading vibrant, purposeful lives, now just living in constant pain trying just to get out of bed in the morning. "Government war on drugs" HAH ! It's actually the "government killing of innocent people". If only the government would work this efficiently on gun control.REPORT COMMENTS

I am nearing the point of suicide myself. Without pain control I can only work 20 hours a week at low pay. My career is gone. No children eliminates me from medicaid. This is not right either. At my age they wouldn't live with me anyway. Taking our lifeline without a viable option is inhumane. Animals have more rights than us in regards to pain management.REPORT COMMENTS
