I suffer from a congenital spinal cord disease and have been forced into lowering pain meds to lowest dose possible. Being a responsible patient I haven't complained and have gone along with the docs instruction. But where is the ethic in making the doctor feel good cause they're abiding by these restrictions while I have to sacrifice my quality of life?

Please give chronic pain sufferers back their dignity, there are already laws regarding the ones who break the law. As with most laws many suffer because of the few, and the legislatures do not suffer at all. What do they do for chronic pain, certainly they don't suffer like the "little" people.

You are hurting the innocent people who take their medications the way they are supposed to. I was suicidal before I got into a pain management program. I have a genetic disease that causes chronic pain. The medicines are the only relief I get. Go after the drug dealers and not the innocent patients. I hope you are never in the position I am and have your government take away your only chance at any quality of life.

I am a 'chronic pain patient, certified disabled, by the SSDI. I have been in 'chronic, relentless, severe pain, for the last 42 years. I did not 'choose' to be in pain. Unlike, 'drug addicts', millions of chronic pain sufferers, ' DID NOT CHOOSE' to suffer. We have been 'dealt' an " INVISIBLE LIFE SENTENCE' because first, there is no 'cure', and only pain medications, not 'DRUGS', keeps us in a somewhat 'quality of life' and for a lot of them, those pain medications still allow them to work, and provide for their families. The agencies have 'imposed' this cut down, or totally 'ban' pain medications from our lives, if you can still call that, a 'life'. I wonder, if any of you, who are 'up there' looking 'down' at the 'real world' from your 'expensive offices' who by the way, have 'forgotten' WE THE PEOPLE' put you there via our 'votes'. We trust all of you, with our 'lives', our 'health' and our livelihood, even our 'freedom' . What have you done? You have all imposed a 'deadly' and very dangerous situation to our already, painful lives. We now 'fear' for our 'lives' as we are being 'tortured' as we are being 'tapered' off, or taken off from the 'only' life saving 'ropes' we still had, our pain medications. Since you are the powerful, rich, and the 'almighty' you don't even come 'close' to even 'put yourself in our 'painful' shoes'. Because, if any of you were in pain, you just call any of your "own" and problem solved. But, the rest of Americans, the Millions, who are not in 'power' or 'rich', or have political 'clout' or 'special friends". We rely on the only means we all millions of pain sufferers run to, the American Healthcare system, which by the way, it is 'broken' and in need of serious attention. Try to remember, if you can, who all of you 'work' for. Try to remember, that, without 'us' the 'masses' of poor, middle-class people, YOU and all others who are now at the 'top' of the mountain of Power, looking 'down' on all of us. Would not 'live' so lavishly, carefree, and 'safe'. You are pulling the strings, that effect us all, your new guidelines on pain medication, especially Opiates, are being 'broken' off, and YOU are letting us, die, suffer needlessly and tortured on a daily basis. All this 'needless suffering", the 'suicides' and all of the 'desperate' decisions millions of pain sufferers will make to ease our pain, our suffering, will be on YOUR conscience, but then, how many of you in "power' still have one. ALL WE ASK, is for you to re-consider, and accept that your new approach on the war on drugs, or the epidemic on street drugs, did not start or can end in a Medical Office. We, plead, we beg, we cry out load, to re-consider your guidelines, and return to us, the legitimate, certified, pain patients, to our Physicians, the 'RIGHT' to still live, with somewhat quality of life, and the relief of our pain. Pain is an "Invisible" life 'sentence, and the 'life saving' pain medications, we all d

I have had 4 back surgeries and have been dealing with chronic pain since 1989. My pain is severe and daily. While some days are better then others my pain will never go away. Opiate medications allows me to live my life with some meaning and quality. Without it I will have no life.

I have had chronic pancreatitis for over 11 years. During this time my pain has never gone away. I felt pressured to not take pain meds in the beginning and felt traumatized by my suffering. While I still have pain daily, my pain meds ease it enough for me to function somewhat. I work closely with my pain mgmt team. I ask that my meds be left in their capable hands.

Living with chronic pain, and being denied access to relieve it is a living hell. My quality of life has declined since Februaruy of this year. Not only was I declined the use of Vicodan for painful neuropathy from Antivirals for HIV and diabetes, I was treated like an addict. I had to go through seeing a therapist, and a psycologist to get to a "pain clinic". At the pain clinic I was told they had muscle relaxants , or IV use of lidocaine to offer for my pain! Patients are now automatically seen as addicts, and then given inadequit pain relief. I feel demoralized and insulted by having to see therapists, and extremely let down by my Doctors for not relieving my pain. Not only am I suffering in pain, using all my willpower to get through each day, but my sister and Dad are extremely upset , seseeing me have to go through this,,,, all because of change Iin Government policy!

I am not only an individual with chronic pain I am also a social worker who goes to work daily and takes care of the mental health needs of my clients and their families. If I am unable to address my physical health needs when I am at home how can I be expected to maintain my ability to work and be a productive member of society. I already don't take my pain medications in the morning because I drive 30 minutes to work, at work because I do mental health therapy with clients and then I must drive home before I can take my pain medications. Chronic pain patients who follow the prescribed doses and don't abuse their medications should not be treated like criminals by the CDC or Congress.

Not just opiates. Having to battle with insurance companies over relpax, celebrex and opiates as well is bull. These drugs can help people who suffer

I pretty much echo the sentiments of other signers. We have been using Narcotic and Synthetic Pain relievers since WWII. Why are we "suddenly" in a panic about them? I lived for 35yrs Clean and Sober..once I moved into AGE, the body began to turn on me. I go in with hat in hand, get my diagnoses with all records on file.. I tell the Phys that I'm having a great deal of discomfort. Test Tests Tests Film, MRI the whole gamut. In fact I became so stiff along with the Pain in my spine that I was granted a Benefit from SSDI. I was carefully monitored over the last 10yrs. No problem. Suddenly there is a panic about Opiates and Pain Relievers overall. I don't get it. BUT..................here is another issue that seems to get glossed over in all of this: THE LACK OF ACCESS TO ANY Doctor for any reason..since we don't yet cover all American Citizens for Healthcare.

I'm one of those people being hurt by this!😡If u think this is how I thought my life would be u r sadly mistaking!!!!4 back surgeries, 11 hip surgeries have left permanent pain issues that most people would kill themselves for! Yet I try to "live" I have a cat rescue, currently looking for work, and one dr. Had made the comment most people in the level of pain I live in would've committed suicide by now yet I have not done so because sadly I have to take medicine for it as I have a very bad love-hate relationship with mine I didn't want to have to take meds but if I want to have a life I need to so don't let a few bad apples ruin it for people that truly use it properly thank you Susan Knapp

When a patient has medical records, mri's, scans, xrays, etc that clearly document their DEBILITATING CONDITIONS, MANY INCURABLE, THERE SHOULD BE ABSOLUTELY NO REASON TO DENY THEM LIFESAVING PAIN MEDICATION! I am a chronic intractable pain pt with many many years of medical records, proof of my DEBILITATING INCURABLE CONDITIONS, I was on the SAME STABLE DOSE for eight years with success, my pain was at a tolerable level that I got thru the day and was able to participate in life, up until last tear, my meds were reduced to INEFFECTIVE DOSES. for the past year my dr has given me scripts for all kinds of medication, non opiod of course, that DO NOT WORK! My pain medication has been lowered so much that it no longer keeps the pain at tolerable levels. I can no longer take walks with my dog, take daily shower, cook meals, attend family gatherings, go to my sons basketball games, nor can I make it up the 14 stairs to my bed! I sleep on a recliner when I do sleep, Usually 2-4 hours each nite, then awakened by my soine feeling like its being crushed by a steam truck roller. The DEA and government has NO business coming between me and my dr. You people have lumped CPP's in with heroin addicts, treat us like pill seeking junkies and criminals. Why is saving the life of an addict more important then saving the lives of innocent LAW ABIDING CHRONICALLY ILL CITIZENS!?!? MY LIFE MATTERS, IN FACT ALL CHRONIC PAIN PTS LIVES MATTER AND WE DESERVE TO BE TREATED WITH RESPECT AND DIGNITY NO GREETED WITH JUDGEMENT AND MADE TO FEEL LIKE WE ARE SOMETHING WE ARE NOT!! Treating pain is a HUMAN RIGHT! A right that you corrupt *******s in congress along with your sidekicks, are violating! I urge all of you pain warriors to write to the Human Rights Watch in NY, THEY WANT TO HEAR FROM US, PLEASE TELL THEM YOUR STORY, ALL OF IT! THE NEGLECT, ABUSE, MISTREATMENT, DEGRADING AND DISCRIMINATION AGAINST US! Just remember, God sees all and all of you will have him to answer to one day, Y'all better pray he shows you mercy, although intentionally forcing legit pain pts to endure the TORTURE our DEBILITATING INCURABLE CONDITIONS cause onto our bodies, knowing there is medication to help eaze the pain and give us some QUALITY OF LIFE, AND YOU ARE DENYING US OUR LIFELINE, IS GENOCIDE!
