Please stop 10 year time limit. Veterans who are still fighting to recover, like me, need more time to heal before going to school.REPORT COMMENTS

I was honorably discharged after 4 years active and then 4 years active reserve. I paid into the system at a time I could ill afford to (junior enlisted with a wife). I thought I was doing what was right by doing without to invest in my future. Long story short... ETS, kid on the way, a wife to complete her college degree, a full time and part time job to support the family. The next thing you know 10 years has went by without an opportunity for ME to go back to college. Now my money has been sitting there collecting interest and I can't even get a refund. I would rather go to college, but hey, at least give me my money back. For some reason, I feel that I am being punished for doing the right thing and taking care of my family. I guess I would have been better off living off the government dole for a few years, like many others, and getting a degree so I could make more money now. I'm just tired of the government punishing those that try to be productive and do the right thing. Just my two cents. Thanks for listening.REPORT COMMENTS

This should apply to the veterans and their dependents. We need to consider all the life circumstances that affect our veterans today which has drastically changed in the last 10 years.REPORT COMMENTS

If the GIB never expired there would always be a time in the veteranfs career to advance with continuous/ongoing studies. An easy fix to have highly educated vets to be engineerscetc, when the economy is not so good.REPORT COMMENTS

8 years of active duty in the USN and am out of a job due to economic downturn. The gov't got my $1200 and now that I could really use my benefits to retrain and adapt to current economic conditions, they aren't available. The older I get, the more I realize how little we vets actually mean to our elected officials and the VA. What a shame.REPORT COMMENTS
