women have way to much control over the mans lively hood i have a co-worker whose ex-wife uses his child support money to pay for another mans gifted Harley davidson bike with no job. And steady gets phone calls from the woman requesting more money after he has paid $900 a month this is absurd. My parents never spent that much money raising me ...the entitlement is out of control reciepts need provided for the expenses -

like most other guys on here I do the best i can do when it comes to supporting my kids...I have my 11 yr old and currently dont use any state support or federal support for her food or medical.. yet...I dont understand why these courts place children in the care of people who REQUIRE state assistance obviously showing they cant support the child themselves...then drop it on the father to pay it when 9 times out of 10 the father is more than capable without state help to take care of the child... sorry thats just common sense....and completely unfairREPORT COMMENTS

This system is harming society and the future of our children. A kid shouldn't be used as a weapon, they shouldn't be pawns in some sick war game. When you have a child, you either step up or you don't. If you do step up, you deserve the same rights as the other person that stepped up. It doesn't matter if you are a man or a woman. You should not be entitled to someone else's money or belongings when they are mutually there for the child. This system just shows how disgusting we are as a society. How unfair this world can really be. This is just as wrong as slavery. To tear a man away from his child is horrible. I'm sick of seeing friends struggle. I'm sick of bad parents getting away with being bad parents. This is iniquality and sexism at its finest. This needs to be reformed for so many reasons.REPORT COMMENTS

I'm a biological mother who was 16 when I had my oldest son, my brother and I had an agreement that he would take care of my son til I got on my feet. It only took me less than a yr to do so,during that time him and his now ex wife had split up and my son stayed with her.I've went thru hell fighting to get my son back and still don't have him back 13yrs later.My rights were terminated but yet I still have to pay child support and provide medical insurance for my son. I need help asap and don't know where to get it as I'm very low income and have a son who has agoraphobia and needs my constant care :( I'm not a bad person and was young at the time and thought I was doing what was best for my son at the time. I didn't want him to suffer along with me. As hes an innocent child and didn't ask to be born or brought into this world :(REPORT COMMENTS

I'm signing this because I am currently married to a man who pays child support. It's heartbreaking to watch him calculate every dime he spends because he's obligated to give up so much of his income. And there is no way to determine exactly how it is spent. We watch as his ex-wife and her new husband brag about their new foreign cars, meanwhile we cannot even get a house together in both our names because of his obligations to his children. I have no children of my own, but won't dare consider getting pregnant because I can't even bear the thought of putting another financial strain on him when he is struggling as it is. He diligently pays every month and is not even allowed to see one of his children. However the court system decided to raise his child support payments. It's really saddening that the court system does not even look into circumstances.REPORT COMMENTS

I was injured in an accident and she threatened me with suicide after she knew that i was getting money from a settlement she divorces me and the child support was based on a settlement not on a calculated child support guidelines after i ran out money, in and out of hospitals and surgeries for 7 years i get thrown in jail after a year in court trying to prove to the judges that my circumstances were changed and I'm broke and she is a doctor now and makes real money and I'm homeless.REPORT COMMENTS

I agree 100%. If a father is paying his child support and the children are in school then yes the mother should be forced to get a job to help support their children. It is not fair that the father has to work to support his children and their mother as so many times is the case. Now that being said the father should be made to devote more of his time to the children too. Wtf why can't one of you lawyers challenge this and get things on a more fair playing field for men and women? How can the state look at your gross income when you will NEVER get that amount as Uncle Sam takes his portion first. And the money is tax free for them, don't even have to claim it. A man cannot move on with his life if bills always haunt him when the other contributes nothing to the part. I am fed up with the concept of primary parent, custodial or not. I agree with a lot of the others as well.... My ex was physically abusive .... When I left him our children were out of town... Just to get back at me he and his family brain washed the kids... When he filed child support on me but before I go on I did everything in my power with family support to get them back... Yes I find the child support not fair .. I didn't have a job I didn't have any kind of income source..... The bad part is the kids were not even living with him he didn't care for them ... This so called person would beat the kids but no one would even listen or hear me .... They acted as if he was the victim and the only victims were my kids .... When he started to receive the child support payments he did not even give them any money instead he spent it on his other 2 kids and himself.... What infuriates me the most is that I went ahead and paid in full a lil over $18,000 .... My son was in jail and gave him $200 that's it after promising him a lawyer my daughter did not get a dime... He was out buying computers cell phones and etc for everyone in his family including the 2 kids he had with someone else.... What I don't understand why is it he can get away with this and why couldn't it of been put in a bank since my kids were of age??? I find this very very unfair and ridiculousREPORT COMMENTS

My brother works full time and pay child support for 1 child. He is always broke, lives in a bad neighborhood ( low rent) and can barely pay his bills. She is married ( husband unemployed), is on welfare, has a job and another child. She is constantly taking him to court for more money and the State of Connecticut is constantly threatened him with jail. Can't afford a private attorney. A father should have the legal right to an 2nd pt. time job without Child support laying levy on those earnings when presently paying 55% of his earnings to Child support from the 1st Job. The law forgets a Father needs to have an substantial amount to survive healthy enough to see to their essentials to maintain a healthy physical body to be able to keep working in order to keep the Child Support payments going. I am a 33year old mother. Im legally married to my sons father but we spilt many years ago. I am forced to pay 75week while I get no rights to my son, the father was abusive but due to being beat within inches of my life I never pressed charges or was even allowed to call the cops. He made sure I knew better. My now fiance also pays child support. 100week. The system allows "custodial parents" to use their child as paychecks. Oh, you cant find a job and pay... here let me screw you even more, now I'm going to take your license away, oh you still cant pay we are now going to drag you to court, treat you like the scum of the earth and make you pay a purge payment... even better- can't come up with the amount the courts think is ok... now you're going to spend 30days in jail" meanwhile the father has all rights simply because I can not go take my child from him, (no one helps me to get my rights) so he is automatically considered the custodial parent and is awarded everything?!? I never understood why fathers quit their jobs, worked under the table and evaded all responsibility. I get it now. I truly do. My first court hearing I left absolutely discusted and appalled at our "system" I asked ok so when do I get to see my son? Oh honey paying child support does not give you rights to see your child... excuse me? So I can just go wait for some rich lady to cash a check and smash her in the face and take up to FIFTY FIVE % OF HER EARNINGS? this is why dads and now moms do what they do. Dad can sit at home and live off his mother and his girlfriend and yet juat because I had the misfortune of having this mans child he gets a weekly payday from me?! Then they also get all rights year after year to tax returns, for one kid its between 3500-5500.00 wtf are you kidding me?REPORT COMMENTS

And another thing I forgot to mention I am married but not together anymore because of this and I have two boys with her it's been nothing but a struggle for me and my boys where do I get to take my boys now a ride in my truck because I have no place to live sad what kind of roll model am I now.....and the reason I lost my career was because I got beat by a north Glenn Colorado police officer and gave me an injury in my head the makes me dizzy all the time witch it disqualifies for driving a commercial vehicle so no more career I applied for disability but I'm sure I will get denied....but this is my story of how my life went down hill hope you guys get both my letters ...hope something gets done about this child support because I'm really thinking about ending me...REPORT COMMENTS

I pay child support for a 18 year old adult that has a job his mom works and her boyfriend works they live in a big house and I pay child support for a child that is not mine and another that doesn't even have my last name no blood test were ever done she says there mine and I signed that paper at the hospital with that being said my career that I made 60,000 a year job was ruined now I make 19,000 a year child support won't modify it because my 18 year old is supposed to graduate this year but he's not so now I gotta wait till he's 19 child support takes all my money I can't even pay for my truck my cell phone or a place to live I live in my truck till it gets repoed then I'll be on the street how is that fair to me it's not who spends $1000 a no th on a kid anyway nobody does why does the guy have to pay everything while they work kids work but I'm in the gutter the support laws need to change there is many people like me out there and then they wonder why people comment suicide rob steal a lot is because of this if you child support people think not put your self in our shoes .....REPORT COMMENTS

My child is no longer able to attend private school, get the Catholic education that both of parents have because she would rather the money be given to her .I paid in excess of 1k a month for unforms, tuition, and catered lunches. Hi i fought for my sons because my ex was abusive and they took custody from me. My ex and his wife ran with my boys so i lost contact with them for 15 years now i found them he abused them bad shot at them 1 boy is disabled and in a wheelchair he shot them up with meth and beat them up 1 ended up in the hospital. Now im trying to go get them my disabled son has a lifetime restraining order against his dad. but to no open case on child support until later in life i owe him 38,000 dollars so im having to pay for the abuse my sons went through. im moving them in with me in march and we are going to do what we can until i pay it off i hate the fact im paying for his drugs and my boys are not there......REPORT COMMENTS

I have been fighting this for bout 5 or so years now. The father has her. He keeps pressing the issue even tho he financially does not need it cause he works for the city. I'm not saying to don't love my daughter but for people who has mental issues along with health and phsyical disability they still pressing the issue But he does not allowe to see or talk to her even tho there is court order that I have visits with her.
