I am a full time working mother making 45k annually. My sons father, who is 9 years old than me, claims to only make $9 an hour and works 33 hours a week making sandwiches at a Primo Hoagie. My son lives with me full time, he is scheduled to see his father every other Friday night for supervised visitations at his grandparents house, if his father actually follows through. The court system does nothing to help me, they just give him extra chances every time he is brought in for contempt. He owes close to 10K and has proven that he can not hold a steady job. Now I am missing a day of work to go to a support modification hearing, filed by HIM, because he wants to pay LESS! The total support received from him in 2015 was around $3,000.....Our son attends private school, numerous after school sports and activities, and has medical bills, not to mention I provide the health insurance...$3,000 doesn't even start to put a dent into the annual cost of raising children. The entire support system needs a revamp. If a parent makes consistent payments, and they're just short, then maybe that parent really does need help financially. At least that would show that they are trying, but these parents who just choose not to pay then ask for help need to be stopped. The court system needs to have the childs best interest in mind and look at the whole picture. In PA the system does not look at support inconsistencies and custody inconsistencies...they really need to. If my sons father provides next to nothing and cancels close to half of their visits then why is he still in the picture? My son is unfortunately growing up knowing he has a dead beat father, and I can't protect him from that, I can only do my best and provide my all in every aspect.

I would like to point out its not just women...My ex left me to raise our son when I was 15 for 12 years he hardly ever seen his son,and forget paying child support. After 12 .yes I decided to turn him in.He then decided he would bribe our son into telling the court he wanted to live with him..He was going to buy him a rifle and all sorts of other stuff.Which I could not afford because I raised our kid alone and did not have the money for anything extra..So I agree with this, but it should go both ways.

I think child support should be different i believe that both parents should have least part time job to receive any kind support. I get support but my ex and i both work too i do not think its right for it all to be on one parent it took two people to make those children so how is it one gets sit and be lazy why the other one works constantly just to pay support and have money to live on. I know some say well got baby at home no excuse uf you cant find baby sitter to run you can find one to work.child support was not meant for one to be lazy and live off others money its to help but the other parent should do the same as well cause you both made em.

They should adjust how much you pay to the amount you would have after you paid taxes and insurance out of your check.

I also believe that the payee shouldn't have their license taken away if they haven't paid, or forgot, etc. How will you get the payment if you take their transportation? I also believe that if the custodial parent denies visitation the other parent shouldn't have to pay the child support. How can they pay their support for their child(ren) and then be denied the right to see them?

Child Support should be for the child not for the mother to live off of and still want more from the father on the side. I know someone that has been paying his child support and his son as been living with him since he was 12 now he is 22 yrs. old. The daughter did not live with the same mother for 4 yrs. in which 2 yrs. of it was during the time for child support. There should be no interest on child support, since there is, why can't you use it as a tax right off? Just like when you have a mortgage on a house that is a tax deductible. Also, there should be a statute of limitation law after 10 yrs. and they have not paid because of no real income or due to no job off and on. How can anyone pay when they do not have the money? Then here comes the interest charges that do not stop. That is wrong. What about the people that do pay and all of the sudden, they loose their licence because the state wants you to pay more without taking the case in front of a judge first to decide? That is definitely wrong. How can they get to work to pay? What if you work for yourself and you have to drive in order to work? In my case, I am a female. I gave my children to their father years ago, because he was not paying me child support. I lost two of my three part time jobs. Could not get any assistance. Once he had them he turned me over to Texas child support division. Now my children are 28 and 26 yrs. old. I owe back child support.. My children's father, my ex-husband, has always made more money than me, way more. I make enough to barely survive, still to this day. He made approximately $80,000.00 or more a year. The most I have made a year since they have been with their father is $15,000.00 a year. I was married for 12 yrs. and my husband at that time made the money and supported me. He died will be five yrs. ago. Yes, the child support law needs to be changed. Children are not being able to see the other parent and women out there stop taking the pill just to trap the man and or use the system. Also, if a parent is paying child support to the other, then receipts need to be produced to the court or the public aid office, because you know that even if the other parent is paying, they are collecting Aid also. Instead of trying to get a job and work. Me, I have been looking for a job for six months are longer and no unemployment. If I didn't have a mother to help me, I would loose my home. Yet, Texas wants me to pay my back child support.. I never had the money to be able to fight, because I don't live in that state. I live about 720 miles away.

Child support in any matter needs to handled in a way that agrees with a common sense approach. Child support needs to be split 50/50 and based on a itemized list of needs for the child or children. Not 8% of income imputed income or any other type of income. Thus you will find more parents being able to afford child support due to its fairness and sound reasoning. In addition child support payments to the custodial parent need to be on a debt card that shows all purchases made for the child this way nobody can put it up there nose and get away with it. Also, any and all taxpayer funded government programs need to tighten their requirements to be eligible prohibiting women who don't want to work from living off the system and falling back on child support and taxpayer-funded programs pleasing them a burden on society.

I'm sorry, but I have seen enough suffering on the non custodial parents side. The get Charged penalties and interest. How in the world can they keep up with payments if they are jobless or can barely support themselves.. think about it.. the government does what it always does and that's TAKE. Non custodial parents in a child's eyes no are WALLETS, nothing more.. I know that I would not pay the penalties or the interest... I rather go to jail or kill myself before I see a government belittle me in my child's eyes.

the purpose of child support is to keep the child living as comfortable as if the parents were still together. I went to court to get shared parenting and was told by the judge since the other automatically has sole custody she has to agree to shared parenting which ishould funny because if she agreed to it we wouldn't be in court. Now we have to go to child support court which she will get even though she makes more then I do per hour. The amazing thing is that at the custody hearing she said I missed the child support hearing. Why was there a child support hearing before the custody hearing. So she said no to shared parenting but yesterday to child support. So she doesn't agree with me having shared parenting but she agrees to me paying as if I do. So I have to pay her as if we were still together but then have to provide the same things I'm already paying for when my son is with me. So I guess if we were still together my son would another person come get him every other weekend. Cincinnati Ohio and Hamilton County are screwd up and set up to keep fathers out of theither child's lives. They say they do what's in the best interest of the child yet every study ever done says that children that has both parents equally involved in their lives tend to do better in life then those who don't but then the court says I can't have shared parenting unless she agrees so how is that what's best if the studies show its not?

I believe chidsupport laws are very unfair and unjust. Considering there are still good hardworking fathers in this world I am engaged to one.why is that I go to work killing myself. To support six children by myself from my previous marriage. On top of trying to take care of my fiance who's x-girlfriend gets stick him on $700 a month child support. Whats worse we struggle pay check to pay check. Because he is paying a woman who refuses to work but rather smoke marijuana daily. Live off her grandparents, and gets to party. Whats really sad she lied to the judge as to where thier three boys reside.they don't even live with her for what ever reason. So why should she receive benefits an riding the system for three boys she is not even rasing.. Why should me,my fiance, an our children have to struggle to keep from drowning..why is that women get to have children but not have to raise them with or without a father..I should know I am a woman.rasing 6 alone ages 13,11,10,7,5,4.. I don't get a dime. But I do work as hard as a ma to provide for them without any hand outs..if I have to work why come a woman with three kids gets to stay at home buying drugs, diamond teeth, clothes etc..the laws need to change.I don't see how a person can survive off of $600 a month..what is that supposed to pay. We argue constantly about money. Praying for a change.we never get to see his boys..and when his girlfriend calls she's always high and has slurred speech..its time for men an women who are in love with the hardworking men getting screwed by the government to stand up and fight back. Enough is enough.. Times are harder.. Money is hard to make.. Enough with the free rides..it angers me when I see women getting HUD, food stamps, child support, but its funny because they don't even own a car. So I am confused..women need to get off thier butts and take some type of responsibility.. After a it takes two to tango.. Our government makes it a game of one like they are punishing the man..its so unjust.I cry watching my fiance trying hard to make it and support us with what little he does have..I pray everyday that GOD changes this wicked world..

The parent receiving the support payments should have to show receipts. When someone received over $7000 in 10 months the for a healthy child and keeps petitioning for more, it's just an injustice. In my case, it's for spite from an immature woman driven by her own mother who did the same thing. If the father is fighting for shared 50% custody is is more than able to do that, the courts should grant that and no support should have to be paid by either party. The system really needs to be proactive on this.

The "system" is corrupt. Child Support is unconstitutional and many, not all, women use the system as a career move. It's this fallacy of, "best interest of the child" that perverts the thinking of the mass public. The system does NOT have the best interest of the child in mind when it is used as a punitive measure against, specifically, fathers. Fathers do love their kids, but when the system FORCES them against their own self determination to pay an amount that is far in excess of what it needs to be to care for the child, it destroys that man's sense of freedom. Especially when the money is given to the mother who very often does not use it for the child, but instead on herself. Why is the system dictating how much a man should pay anyway? When a happy married couple lose their jobs and must place a strict budget on household bills, does the system come in and arrest the parents for not spending $1000/month on the kid? No, the system should never interfere with the lives of parents, it's none of their damn business. If child support (tax free and NOT considered Income) payments were not so high, women would not be so quick to become pregnant. That is a fact that can be seen statistically by viewing the pre and post child support laws in this country. There are millions of testimonies all over the internet that attest to this tragic state of affairs. Also, unwed, unplanned pregnancies should never warrant the system intervening. If a woman doesn't want the baby, she aborts it, puts it up for adoption or abandons it "legally." She has 3 outs, not including the morning after pill. A man, who's not himself willing to be a father should have those same outs. It's only fair. Yes, it takes TWO to tango and make a baby, BUT only one gets to decide what happens. Only one gets paid. Only one gets to keep the baby and hold it ransom because the system doesn't enforce visitation the same way it does paying the bill, and a man can go to jail if he gets too far behind??? That's debtors prison, a violation against the US Constitution right along with indentured servitude. The system is corrupt, there is no way of saying it isn't. Men who've been through it know.-

I think it's unfair to get one year with overtime, and it set up all the years for then on out -- and now you pay an extra $200 a month, when it's already hard enough (losing 1/3 to half your net)

I think the parent who receives child support should have to account for where the money goes at any time the court decided they want to know. This should be law in all 50 states. Too many parents looking to get a free ride from the hard working Non custodial parent

Honestly this is for the a men that make good money. I love my child and I'm more than gland to buy him whatever he wants. On that same note $6000 a month for child support just because I'm successful, its unfair. What baby NEEDS $6000 a month. That money is really for all the baby mothers out there looking for a check to support themselves and the justice system is allowing them to do so. I find it extremely disgusting.

Child support should be based on costs of raising the child. A custodial parent is not using $400/month to buy items needed to raise the child. Child support should have a cap placed on it that would be equal from state to state, and not have it based on income. Although it would change support and relieve those who believe they are paying too much, those with lower incomes may still struggle, however they would realize that the courts would not be able to calculate what "they are able to earn" if someone has no or low income. The percentage should be done on what the average cost is to raise a child in that particular state. Forcing the NCP to pay out of their means will eventually leave them broke and have no job. If that happens, then no one gets paid. The way it is setup now, is unconstitutional and needs to become a more serious matter. I also believe that once the child turns 18 AND is enrolled in college full-time, that they should receive the money and not the CP.

Childsupport is currently garnishing my paycheck.I am a Cook I received $140.00 out of $500 my last paycheck for two weeks work .I just got evicted because I can't afford the lowest of rents .My first kids mother took my son to California on a so called visit an I haven't seen him since.(I live in Florida) I can't afford a lawyer or a private investigator. I went to courthouse to try an get visitation. I was told I could not because Paternity wasn't established. I miss my kids and I am financially ruined. The system helps women to kidnap your child an brainwash them while you pay 65%.
