My husband Is paying child support to his ex who is remarried with a step child the both make good money. But yet his 2 kids call us asking for help to pay college housing fees she make the children work and us their own money for clothes shoes and school lunches. They are 14 and 16 I don't think it's fair that they work make good money collect child support and the kids are still in need there has to be a way to stop this I think after a certain age the child should get the money to use for legible stuff I am tired of paying her child support, paying for the kids needs seperate and taking care of mainly own children. I know a father who has been incarcerated for over 10 years. The State of Michigan knew this and continued to charge interest on his child support during his entire time being incarcerated. Knowing there was no legal way he could pay his child support of $4,000.00 while being incarcerated. So now he is owing $36,000.00 in arrears! Plus he can NOT claim any of this on his taxes (although was told most of the $36,000 is interest charges). Under circumstances like this, the spouse who is charged with child support, whether male or female and is incarcerated and by-law is unable to pay child support, should not be charged interest. It should be suspended until one is once again freed. Additionally, the tax law needs to be updated. If these payments are considered child support, than whether or not a child is a "Grown Adult", the payee should be able to claim these payments on his/her taxes or at less a percentage of the payments be tax deductible. This would be fair and helpful for all. Please update the tax laws and make them fair for all sides.REPORT COMMENTS

For the last 7 years Virginia childsupport agency has had two orders for the same two kids to be applied on me. One order was falsely applied a year before my divorce by my ex wife which I had no knowledge of. The following year I was divorced a order was put in placed through the courts which my pay was garnished which I was cool with because I agreed to that. Years later I was notified about being in arrears. For 12 months of not paying which i was never notified my licenses was never provoked which normally you can't go 90 days without paying childsupport. I was in the military and then I kept a job. I was ironically notified about arrears when I moved to georgia. I have been treated like I am a dead beat, no one will listen to me, no one seems to help or care. Now my kids are 23 and 21 and I was served a warrant for the same order. These laws are not for the family it's a tool to make money. I need help asap and I don't know what else to do.REPORT COMMENTS

single moms who keep having children in order to make a living off of child support and "the system", who have no high school diploma, unable to get a full time job. This is a disgrace to the children - and yet the judges applaud this type of person - keep having more, keep lying to the court - no problem we will give you custody. Disgusting. How do you expect the children to grow up with respect and know how to get a diploma, job and be a decent citizen??? No other country does this - only the USA.....REPORT COMMENTS

I'm a black woman and I was put on child support by my mother who literally got away with stealing my own children. My mother has put my oldest brother's father, my youngest brother's father, my father, and then me on child support. She has never encouraged us to get to know our father but yet she got to sit on her lazy*****and **** people over for a living. She would talk about our fathers like pure******with is messed up since they were never EVER around to defend themselves. She even stole more than $20,000 from me before putting me on child support. AND SHE GOT AWAY WITH IT! My mother has not had many jobs at all in her life but as a 31 year old, I got my first job at the age of 14 and I put myself through college. The system will do anything to butt **** the innocent as long as they can support their jailhouse and prison corporations.REPORT COMMENTS

Florida is the WORST for Non-Custodial parents. I have had my Passport denied, license suspended, credit destroyed and it seems no matter how much I pay, it still stays the same. I live in New York now and the mothers child lives in Oklahoma. Florida shouldnt even be involved, especially since I have been paying for years and still seem to not be able to get any answers about what to do and how to modify. This is the worst state for Child support and I regret even having any dealings with Palm Beach. They are not only racist, but the Clerks basically said there is nothing I can do for you unless you are the custodial parent. Wow. Maybe I should just not pay and say F it all.REPORT COMMENTS

I think that women who are not working or plan to work after they become mothers , should not be having children. The child has to be supported by both parents, I don't agree with mothers using child support collected from the father , to support themselves and sometimes even the new boy friend!! The mothers are sometimes so selfish , only think about messing the father up and "collecting ransom" . I will pick another name for her , mother in not politically correct ...They should get off their a.. and get a real job, be the role model for their children not just use those children to get a free lunch or one thousand free meals!! I currently serve in the armed forces and feel, just like many out there who are being taken advantage of. I never had an issue with providing for my child. from the time I met her mother to the time I was actually order to pay child support I had given her roughly 18,000 dollars. once we started going to court in 2010, the mother decided to obtain a lawyer and I went in with a public defendant. I was station in FL at the time and she filed in MA. the lawyer requested a female judge after we was previously assigned a male judge. needless to say by the time we started and by the time we was done, I was ordered to pay a monthly payment of 350 all the way to 910 dollars a month. when I attended the court conference call, the judge told me that because I was in the military, they she was sure that the paid for me to travel however and whenever I wanted or request it, that the fact I had 2 other "obligations", meaning my other two children; it wasn't her concern or responsibilities, furthermore she went on stating that if I tired to fight this case that she could or would make me pay for my ex lawyer fees. meanwhile I cooperated and send in every required document and showed proof of everything I have or had going on at the moment. I had to drain my saving account because of trying to pay the back payment, because she gave the mother the option that once the payment of 910 was set, if she wanted that payment to start from the tie my child was born, meaning it would get set back roughly 6 years. I don't understand how they can become so abusive with their authority. I had to move out my house because I couldn't afford the payments and couldn't afford daycare for my kids and I am a single father of two kids. I had to request my sister to move in with me until I can find a part-time job and request a loan to help pay for daycare. Im currently 13 years in and now I may have to get out because Im in so much debt due to half of my check being gone to either bills or child support. I am devoted father who serves in the military and put my life on the line everyday and there is no respect for what I do and how they treat us. if I failed to comply with what the court wants, I would of gotten separated under an OTH. meanwhile they money she gets doesn't even go to my child, constantly going on vacations and buying materialistic things. to top it off it doesn't even count for men on their taxes or shows up on there's as an extra income. With how the world is changing and making so much progress, why this subject does not make it to the Big house. Fathers like myself and many others who do the right thing are on our last leg in pleading for help. This has to change, equal rights for both sides of the house, no in between. How do I suppose to pay my own bills if I'm paying 122% of my Salary. I am a father of 3 kids. My oldest whom is 21 years old now I raised since he was 1years old Never recieved any help from his mother. When I lost my job I filed for support. At this moment is when I find out how hard it is for a man to receive child support. My middle child whom is 17 years old received $500 a month from me for 7 years. Now I have custody of him, All I asked of his mom was to put a little food in the house monthly, I recently moved to Nashville Tn last ,may and my 17 yr old is with me as well as his younger brother whom is not my biological child. . Again all I asked from her was $2200 a months to help out. She felled to be consistant with that, so I filed for support. Twice she did not show up. She basically told me that she was not paying child support. She has been served twice but refuse to sign for it. . So the judge tells me if we can't get her serve we will dismiss the case.re you serious. I can't reall a case being dropped on a nan because he could not be located. It's simple marriage is supposed to be permanent, if a spouse destroys the marriage by committing infidelity, the guilty party should not have the right to have sole custody, and should pay child support only if the victim wants support. Otherwise upon separation of any other marriage parent that has custody of the child should go to the parent that can provide for the child without assistance, it makes you a bad parent to lack the ability to provide for the child you have sole custody of.REPORT COMMENTS

I support a cap on child support payments. I'm an involved, dedicated father, living in Illinois and am required to pay +$3,000 a month in child support (not maintenance, child support) which far exceeds the needs of my 2 children. My ex quit working and I believe she uses this money to subsidize her lifestyle. I cannot use these funds for their benefit and their mother simply lavishes this child support on herself. Twould years ago I was hit with a unfair child support order of 981 per month as mom chooses to not work I then lost my job due to safety reasons and now because I fell behind and can't afford to catch up. She is trying to have me arrested because then she will approve for welfare.apparently getting a job is no where in her plans. child support was never meant to be a way for women to be lazy but this is where it has ended up its time somebody made it fair for both parents. I also don't believe jail is a good way to force some one to pay as all jail does is motivate you to find ways out of it. I was arrested in the beginning of my divorce for failure to follow a court order on child support. But this was because she refused dss service and did not cash the checks I sent her. Her intention is for me to still support her and if I don't she wants me in jail so the government can support her. This law needs to be revisited. When one parent states the other is not exercising parenting time, however is the only parent working to support the child and the other parent.. That is exercising parenting time because you are ensuring your childs future. Holding children out of the other parents life because they are the only one working is awful to me and something I have been dealing with for over 3 years now. As a young father I stepped up when I found out I was placing another human on this Earth, and it was my duty as a father to do whatever I needed to provide the best financial and developmental foundation I could for her. However after 3.5 years and I am the only one working and saving for my childs future, after every promotion instead of being able to put more of that money in a fund for my daughter. I am being forced to use PTO time to sit in a court room so more of that money can go into someones pocket who just is not working.. I would love to swap rolls and have all day with my daughter everyday but that is not going to help pay for new clothes, food and education for my child. This law needs to be revised, even if my child support goes up. I would rather see it go into an account where I can see the money being used on my childs well being not gym memberships.REPORT COMMENTS

And steady gets phone calls from the woman requesting more money after he has paid $900 a month this is absurd.
