My wife and I divorce 1 year ago with 2 boys 12/16 years old,in the state of Oklahoma. I was order to pay a RN 1050 dollars a month for child support along with a house payment of 1100 monthly and all bills associated with our marriage. Of course she moved away to the state of Alabama and they garnish my paycheck a long with the state of Oklahoma . Once I got that issue fixed she moved again and my oldest son decided to live with me, he's been with me for a year and THE CHILD SUPPORT office is aware of it and still pressing me with letters and threats. Child Support is driving me into bankruptcy when my ex-wife is running around the united states living well . Child Support laws are ridiculous and driving men in America bankrupt. -

I have no faith in this justice system. The father only get every other weeknd and once a week visitations, at the same time the father pays a ridiculous amount of support and live like a poor man, while the mother can get remarried with a combination house income over $70 thousand a year, and 3 cars, Now she wants a new SUV, so guess what? Yep a modification of chilld support and in her favor. Thanks us government for for ruining my life.REPORT COMMENTS

My step-son's mother is lazy and has always said she will never have a job, I can only assume that she does this so she can sit back and collect a $700 check from us each month. They are also thinking of adopting another child. I know this process is expensive, and I am assuming the money is coming from us. The law should not affect the non-custodial parent just because the mother chooses to sit at home and have children. When she says she can't buy socks for my (step) son. My husband and my son's mother were never married, the state of Oklahoma says a child should be awarded the same standard of living he had while the parents were married, well what if they weren't married? She should be thankful she has a father for her son who has always paid support on time and without garnishment and requests more time with his child instead of with holding time so she can get more money in the support decree. It's amazing to me that the state would rather spend money and resources in court costs than to just fix this very broken system!!!REPORT COMMENTS

My ex just recently took me back to court to get more child support. She went to part time, so now my support has tripled. I also carry all insurances on my kids while she still gets a medical card to pay her copays. She also has government housing with 3 bedroom, 2 bath apartment which has a community pool and park. She works 25 hours a week while I work 60. They include my overtime in child support. She knows how to work the system.She also gets foodstamps and utilities paid. I'm 76% responsible for my kids while she is only 24% responsible. It should be 50/50!! She has all the lastest gadgets, a new car, and even carries pet insurance on her cat. How can this be fair? Well that's ohio for you. You just have to bend over and take it! Oh, and I live out of state and have to drive to her front door to get my kids. She refuses to meet me half way.REPORT COMMENTS

Not that this will help, but it is ridicolous that a governing body would decree that you would have to pay these exorbiant amounts...how does anyone expect to live on whats left? More indivualism per situation must be had, I certainly didnt receive the amount im paying when I had custody, just because she doesnt work? Should I be penalized cause she wont? I have been paying child support for 30 years now, after my ex wife at 19 years old decided to start a family on her own quitting the pill after we decided as husband and wife, the marriage failed because of it and my life and my girfriends life has literally been ruined for the last 20 years, after losing my engineering job in detroit I fell behind with no job and no unemployment, I was being charged $100.00 a week which in les then 4 years with interest went to $20,000.00 after disclosing all my assets that I accumalated before I lost my job, I made several attempts to settle the case in court, after supplieng my referee withh all my information he proceeded to tell me to sit down shut up, we don't have time to listen to you at all, this is documented in the videos from the hearing. Amonth later 4 police cars arrive at my house at 11:00 beating my door down with a felony warrant, I was thrown in jail now with a felony never missing a payment on two girls except for the last 4 years of my second daughter, My court appointed attorney totally hung me out to dry!! I ended up having to pay $15,000.00 in within 3 months or go to jail with a felony. two minutes before he went up to defend me he asked for another $3,000.00 to settle the case once and for all. He totally lied as two weeks later I received a non payment hearing from the FOC because the felony was a criminal issue but dealing with the last $4,0000.00 in interest was still owed in civil court. Don't confuse the two, they are totally seperate issues, Tell me how I pay $15,000.00 in cash and I can't get credited one lowsy cent for the interest??? are you kidding me, the real problem was though they asked my ewx wife who hates me hates my girlfriend who was like a mother to my children for twenty years practically destroyed her as well, but they asked her if she wanted to credit me since receiving the money. Her response was hell no, I want every single penny the law says I can have. The real nightmare though was after I got arrested and bailed out for $5,000.00 they left me in jail for an additonal 5 days, I was actually thrown into general population, I tried repeatedly to tell the guard my girfriend bailed me out, all the would say is if your girfriend bailed you out then I guess you wouldn't be here would you, this is just a portion of the injustices done to me "IT"S A TOTAL JOKE!!! now I have to pay $ 50.00 a week in interest for the next 10 years, so now my daughters are paying her rent in her house she is getting money from me as well, While have of this country is suffering for the last 12 years my ex has had the best 12 years of her life even completely refurnishing her boyfriends hous who owes $50,000.00 in child support and has never been arrested, how I wish I lived in his county. I would have never been bothered. But the shame is that I have actually become resentful of my children at this point since the last 12 years of my life and my girlfriends have been absolutely destroyedREPORT COMMENTS

Child support is unfair in all states in America. I live in florida and I just had a son with my ex girl friend and he just turned one. As I am learning when it comes to child support our goverment does not care. It's not about whats in the best interest for the child. That's what they use to hide behind while they force you to pay half of your check. Its not about the child its about money. If it wasn't about money why do we have to go to court twice just to see a child that is ours. The first time you go to court its just to set up child support then you have to get a lawyer and pay money you don't have just to get visitation. If it was truly about the child, then visitation would be set up as soon as child support was ordered. And the sad part is, I fought for this country. I have custody of my daughter and the state wants $12,000 from becouse when she was in in the care of her mother she was on public assistance and ACS found neglect on my daughter. Acs never contacted me to tell my daughter was being removed 6 times for the first 5 years of my lil Angela life her mother kept running so I had no contact with my child , unfortunately her mother past away and I am raising my angel on my own and child support is making it impossible for us to survive how does that work?REPORT COMMENTS

I believe the government should shut down all the child support offices, they do a poor job for one, and one of the parents gets the bad end of the stick. It took 2 people to make those children.
