When courts consider the automatic cola every 2 years, they should also take in to account the hugely rising insurance premiums - why should these fall solely on the shoulders of the noncustodial parent, while the custodial parent enjoys no decrease in income, rather, gets MORE from COLA??

The laws are clearly unfair. Especially as it relates to single mothers who seek child support from the un-weed fathers. In most cases this is like the lottery. If you look back pre 1980's there wasn't problem with all these single women having kids because those kids were not entitled to money from the fathers. Now the father should take care of the child. But these laws have resulted in more single women having kids. The results been more men not being around bc they are being forced into child support. SO if the kids best interest was the goal. The system has failed. Just look at the stats. 45% increase in single women having kids. THese kids getting into more and more trouble. CHild support has made the problem worse. We need to go back to old British law. If you aren't married you aren't entitled.

NY State is not fair! Because of NY I'm barely able to provide for my kids while my ex sits there and plays the system. I hate NY!

In addition to that, if the woman or person with primary custody makes a significant amount more than the parent with visitation then it should be taken into consideration. Some women will do anything not to have to share the children because they represent a paycheck to them.

Child Support in Alabama is a terrible system that needs 100% reform: Fathers have little to no rights. DHS, and Child Support Services, which are supposed to be impartial when dealing with these cases, are always on the side of the mother. I am married with 4 children at home. I have one daughter from a relationship before I got married. I have always held a good relationship with my daughter, been evolved in raising and caring for her. Just before my daughter turned 18, her mother requested an increase through the courts. In addition, she is requesting Post Minority Support, (this is additional support for college only done in 4 states). She is requesting I pay half of everything including tuition, books, Room and board, provide a car, and all other expenses she deems necessary. The problem with the Alabama Law is that it forces a parent to provide for a state college education, without any previsions on weather a parent can even afford to pay for College. Post secondary education is a privilege and moral obligation by both parents. But this should not be mandated by courts. I am college educated. But my parents could not afford to send myself and my 3 brothers and sisters to college. I used financial Aid, Scholarships, and loans. I had no vehicle and I worked part time. A law of this nature has to be unconstitutional because where does it end. It is not FAIR at all to require one child be educated, and the other four have to make do with whatever is left over. This Law causes a parent to discriminate against their own children based on court order, (one will be educated; the others have to fend for themselves). The Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court did not agree with this ruling. He also believed post secondary education is a moral obligation, not a mandated one. The federal student aid requires a student to maintain at least a 2.0 average to stay on financial aid. The parents, not the courts, should have almost total control of the college education of their children. If the paying parent becomes ill, unemployed, or has to file bankruptcy. How can they be expected to provide for an expensive college education? This is both unreasonable, and destructive. Especially if the parent is ordered to pay the other parent for expenses. In common situations, the child stops school or works his way through. They try and work through the situation if they can. Not the Court. Because college education is so expensive, it should not be mandated of anyone. You do just as I did and millions of other American Students do. You work, apply for aid, grants and scholarships, or serve your country in the Armed Forces and utilize the educational benefits while serving your country.

My children were too young to cope with multiple homes. Counting the sitter, grandmas, custodian and my humble apt. Combined with a little parent alienation and lack of money to live I the non custodial parent was slowly not wanted by the kids. They were so young and just cryed in fear when they saw me. Sorry too much for me I only want my kids to be happy. Now I have a job loss due to major depression from this life event. I guess jail and license revoke is next. I'll never recover I have given up just want to die. Congress I don't expect much from them. What's the point. We have built a system designed to encourage the break up of the family. I'm not a bad guy just i met the wrong girl. Government more often than not creates an income stream for themselves rather than encouraging holy values. No default divorce wow. What's the meaning of those vowels at the alter. Listen I'm not the sharpest guy out there but it's obvious to me this is another income stream for the benefit of attorneys and counties. They don't care abt the kids it's always the money. Divorce and marriage should not be so simple. There should be education and advice directly focused on the family and the possible demise of that family unit. My little girls I love you with all my heart. I'm sorry I wasn't strong enough to fight. Sincerely Dad

I am a mother being forced to pay child support for a kid that was taken out of my arms at 2yrs old. the kid is 15yrs old. Courts haven't made sure I was able to keep a relationship with the kid, but they make sure to send me to jail often. I lost several jobs throughout the years, due to the father attacking me and have police reports. He even plead to stalking me and I still haven't gooten the kid back! He's beaten me up, broken into my house, attacked me at a local college, totals my car(s), gets me fired, then runs to child support to say; put her in prison for not paying me! So far, I have made partial payments since I have been on probation and will be for the next 5yrs due to criminal nonpayment. Child support has also sued me in civil court for nonpayment, so I have two cases of nonsupport for the same kid and this is legal. Child support sent my case to criminal court while still suing me in civil court. I had two different attorneys for both cases and both judges imposed time for the same thing. There's only one case number, yet I'm a felon and I see two judges for the same case. So when I get out of jail this time, I'll have to start all over; finding a place to live, a job, which means the little money I can provide now, wont be available. I was told that the goal was to collect money. Well, you cant get money if Im in prison and it makes no sense to give drug dealers less time tomake room for me. I have never ben in trouble til child support came along. Now, Im gonna have to commit crimes just to get by. It's a shame that our society believes that turning a good citizen into a violent criminal is worth the safety of women and children.

I've taken care of my son since he was born for the first two years financially. She put me on child support because i found a female companion and happiness. At 8.50 a hour i was awarded a child support payment of over 563.00, since then i lost my apartment my motorcycle and my self respect. I do have joint custody and the time i spend with my son we can hardly do anything. I know make about 14.00 a hour so i can afford to pay it i just cant afford to breathe after... I see why suicide could be a option. She just bought a 2010 Camry and is living pretty well. I just want to cry at times.

I'm currently paying almost $600 a month in child support to my husband. He makes over $100,000; and I make $43. He is seeking more money for clothing, school etc.. is this fair? I'm currently writing to everyone to see where I can get help for this. I live on p&j, and have no money to heat up my home.

If a man and woman are together, there's no way that the husband and wife are going to spend $1,000 a month on a child. Why should it be any different if the father or mother is out of the house. How is this fair? It takes two to make a child, so it should take two to take care of a child. A mother should have to provide evidence that she is spending the amount of money on the child and not her bills. receipts should have to be reviewed. If a mother or father can't come up with the means to prove that they need that much money for a child, then child support should be adjusted. How long will this calamity fo on for? Fiz this, Washington. That's just only one of one hundred reasons to fix this mess.

I think its unfair that I have to pay child support until my children reach the age of 21. At 18 they are adults. I think at 18 or whenever they graduate high school should that all support to the non custodial parent should end. Absolutely not fair.

The Illinois Family Court system issued an unconscionable order. First, I was not able to recover any of my non-marital assets. Second, I was ordered to pay my ex-wife money for allegedly damaging the home even though there was no evidence or hearing. Lastly, my ex wife has millionaire parents and receives more money from them, than I could hope to make this year. It is absolutely egregious and un-American that a parent can so easily lose their fundamental right to the care, custody and control of their child and then be forced into indentured servitude.

I work hard but dont make nearly enough to support my daughter at the level as my ex does. I cant take my daughter on any nice vacations because of it but my ex always seems to have the funds to travel and buy things that i wish i could do this system is set up so people like my ex can stay home and collect a check from somebody else's hard work where is the equlity in all this there must be change.

A few week ago i was sent a court order for back support.Ok, I have to pay arears no problem my court date is next week. But that wasnt enough, our crooked government put an hold on my checking acct. Why! The mother is on welfare is wont be getting any money. Child support is a hidden tax on the middle class and poor people. It time we take our government back.

I think that the fathers or women that have to pay child support should be allowed to file it on their income tax as a credit. I also think that the ones that receive the support should have to file it on their taxs as income.

I sure hope this law passes it makes it hard for us fathers who bust their butt working and a majority of the money dosent even actually go the childs needs!!
