This whole child support law needs to be change for good. It's men that take care of their kids no matter what but still suffer while these women do nothing but take care of they self with child support. Child support is a job for some of these worthless women out her.

ExW finally got back to 50/50 custody after going to rehab and now I am forced to pay her over 1k a month. For 50/50 legal and physical? Really. She lives with her parents and has NO bills. Shouldnt she be held responsible for 50% of the expenses? BTW because of my contribution she now doesn't get any public assistance. Oh yeah and I have to pay arrearages. After the first judge said If she has 50% she should be able to support her own kid 50 % of the time. The second judge said why haven't you given her any support? Umm because the first judge said i shouldnt.

Child support is unfair to the honest hardworking man. I am a female who raised two children and split expenses with their father (paid much more than he ever did) without going through the formal Child Support System. It is a rotten system. I was disgusted by the amount that I could have gotten from my ex--it was impractical (going up to half a mans income). I also am now with a hard working man who pays support for two children. There should be some accountability on the part of a custodial parent - going out and eating out (without kids) is not what child support is intended for. Very hard to handle that there is not stipulations on where the money goes. It is sad. But I guess some people are just takers and feel entitled. Hopefully the kids turn out differently, because it is the wrong way to live.

Child support system in Texas is not fair. It's needs an overhaul...I'm self-employed and my business has taken a downward turn since 2008. They are going based on my salary from two years prior when I'm not making nearly half...yet I'm required to pay so much....

I am a very proud and dedicated father who supports his 3 children no matter what. I feel as though the system especially in New Jersey is unfair. I would feel much better if the people who receive the money were forced to prove the funds go specifically for the care of our children. My state takes 33% of my pay combined with 20-25 % in taxes which leaves me with 50% of my wages..I have to work 6 days or 60 hrs. to pay my bills..How do I find time to improve my education or spend time with my kids?

i think there need to be different child support rules i think that if you have your children 50/50 then you shouldnt have to pay support but if your the one that only gets them everyother weekend or not at all then yes you should have to pay. i have two children and my ex husband pay me but he get the kids every other weekend and then my husband im with know has 3 boys and he pay child support but we have them half the month i feel that we shouldnt have to pay beacuse we have to feed them and have school clothes here for them. there mother is all about money. too they need to have different guidlines on support and they say they live enough money for the person to live on but they dont if i wasnt with my husband he wonted be able to afford to have them as much has he has them now.

we had the question of shared parenting on the MA ballot in 2006. there was over 80% in favor for it....when??? when do we stop allowing the state/government to put money ahead of our families. the DOR may work for people who do not want to pay, but what about the ones who want to support their children? you treat them the same. you torture them along with their families. you make mistake after mistake and then mandate the NCP to prove your mistake in court?? it's truly insane

My husband is a great father and has never been late on child support but yet, every time she takes us back to court for a modification they add arreages. We recently have been ordered to pay 1,100/mth. Furthermore, it's pretty sad that 65% of my husband's income is taken and the mother of his child only works 20 hrs. a week! We have to pay for daycare even though the child does not go to daycare (we offered to watch him), but the judge said "he shouldn't have to wake up early". We were fighting the fact that even though we carry health insurance for the child she continues to use the states insurance and not the provided insurance. She even went as far as to have braces put on his teeth out of pocket instead of going through our insurance that would have covered 75%. Guess who pays the full amount... yes, my husband and I!!!! We never get him during our court ordered visitation but yet nothing happens with contempt. She fled the country with his son a few years back and nothing happened then. We did not see him for 7 months!! Something needs to be done about the system!!!

I pay $1,100/mo to my ex-wife (who makes over $60,000/yr.) for my son. If i'm paying $1,100, how much is she paying to help support our son? There is no way it costs $1,100/mo to raise 1 child! Why should I be responsible for paying OVER 100% of the cost of raising my son, while she is responsible for 0%? People throw around the term "dead-beat dad"... who's the real dead-beat? It seams pretty apparent the mothers that collect WAY too much money are the real dead-beats. Anyway, now in order to make ends meet I have to move into a low income neighborhood, and can't afford to do anything fun with my son during the days I have him... very sad...

This child support system needs fixing. The state of Wisconsin sends me threating letters on a boat load of child support. I only owe half the amount they are claiming. Mean while I am eating Bologna and if I am lucky I can get a.tombstone Pizza every now and then. Then attack me once a week. So I started my own business to try to live on instead of 150 every 2 week, to try to get atleast 200 every 2 week. I have documentation to prove my case and no one will even look at it. A single father has no chance and then hit me with processing fee's that are astrononically high, then they take you to court and hit you with higher court costs. Mean while the ex-wife is in contempt of court for not fallowing the rules nothing happens to her and keeps my children from me. Not a fair system!!!! For punnishment for paying out over 58 percent of my child support I cant even talk to my children!!!

Actually, I also think more should be done to promote healthy parenting and child sharing between couples. Hurting one parent with unrealistic guidelines does not help the children. Furthermore, Kids need parents much more than they need financial guidelines! Also, we need to look at the more irresponsible states who use collection agency tactics to punish those who owe child support like Nebraska! Interest on moneys that was never barrowed should be UNCONSTITUTIONAL!

I agree. Too many women take advantage of the system and have babies just so they can sit at home. And they have multiple fathers. If you are married and become divorced that is different than if you just keep creating children with all different men so you can collect from many and sit and do nothing.

I don't understand how the non-custodial parent is supposed to live off of $800 a month. Rent in most places is $1100 and unless he's supposed to live in his car, there's no way for him to survive off of $800 a month. The custodial parent refuses to work because if she does, her child support decreases and she's a vindictive person who feels like she doesn't have to work. She wants the kids father to suffer because she is a horrible person. The courts need to leave the non custodial parent with at least enough to live. $800 a month does not leave enough money for rent, food, electric, water, trash and sewage let alone gas money to pick up the kids if and when she decides to follow the visitation agreement.

My husband and I reside In Alabama with our infant. His two children ( 14 years old & 8 years old) live in Illinois with their mothers. Even with visitation orders the mothers play games and we don't see his children in Illinois. But my husband has been taken back to court 2 times in less than a month for a child support increase modification. While he pays 1,800 a month for child support his children's mothers work part time as waitresses! But we can barely afford formula for our son? With the 40 percent child support, taxes ( that we don't get to claim on his boys so my husband gets taxed for every penny earned BUT 40 percent goes to child support that we pay taxes on while the mothers brag about earned income credits and 10k tax returns)! Plus the money they receive from child support is not counted towards income they receive. I do however agree with a child support system but BOTH parents incomes should count! If my husband has to work full time, why don't they? If child support can monitor that child support gets paid why can't they monitor where the money goes? House checks? As long as child support is paid that's all that the court deems is necessary but they don't see the kids in clothes to small, the housing conditions they live in, lights not on! DCF reports and open investigations should be seem by child support enforcement! My husband was told to change residential custody because we live in another state the mother has to be in jail. Why is visitation agreements not held in the same severity as child support laws? Contempt in Illinois for with holding visitation is a " please don't do that " than it happens again and it's the same answer.
