Problems with the CS system: The exaggerated child care cost tables include items like carpet and appliances that are most often paid for. 30 plus percent of support is for housing but there is no exemption when the home is paid for. Although, the government requires accountability on sending when it provides funds for children, custodial parent are not required to account for CS spending. Imputed wages may lower child support but the custodial parent is not required to show income or prove they are meeting their financial obligation to the child. Thus the child gets less from one parent than they would without the imputed wage and nothing from the other unemployed parent. This means the child is not getting the total support required by the state. Both parent are said to have a financial obligation to their children, but only one parent can go to jail for not paying CS. All spending on the child is in the hands of one parent. The other parent may not be able to spend as much time with their child because they can't afford to support them during that time. They can't buy things for their child because those funds that are beyond basic care were given to the other parent. In South Carolina the reserve of $750 which is assumed to be enough for a non-custodial parent to live on their own. However, at the same time the state calculations for total child support cost are $800 and upwards for a child living with a parent. If the custodial parent has higher earnings then the support payments goes up for the lower earning parent. Two people with the same income and the same number of kids will pay different amounts of support. Table amounts are assumed to be correct with no means to challenge the assumptions. Without direct access to the means, methods, metrology and raw data by which the cost are calculated there is no means to dispute the figures. This contradicts the law that says the assumed figures must be disputable. The court is bias against fathers in child custody cases. Often a child who could live in a financially stable home with their farther is placed with a financially unstable mother. The mother lives at the edge of poverty on nothing but support from the father who (due to CS payments) has less than she does to live on. If the mother was held accountable for support and CS spending then she would have to work and thus create a better standard of living for everyone. When one or both of the parents are financially unstable the children suffer. -

The welfare dept don't care how the paracites use the child support money all they want is the welfare accounts. Our kid$$$ are being used to make money. 2$ for every dollar they take from us. In this country I thought we out lawed a debtors? prison, thanks to child support laws they can take you Driver?s License/Profession license which means you lose your job. (How is that productive?) They garnish 50% or more of your income then seize your bank accounts, retirement accounts, seize your property, take your income tax refund, take your pass ports and then throw me in jail until I can pay. Where do you think this money is going to come from? (If I am in jail, I probably just lost my job therefore no income.) This is all to give it to the custodial parent. Well what happens when the custodial parent does not use this for your child. Nothing. They can buy all the drugs they want. They can turn tricks in the street. The sad part is I am a member of the Armed Forces and when fighting for custody of my daughter, to get her out of places like this, I get told I have an unstable life because I deploy to Iraq and Afghanistan a lot. Now my daughter has been removed from her mother?s home. I did not even get a phone call. I had to call them to find out what is going on. And the State I am in is still trying to seize my bank accounts. So please tell me how this is fair. The sad part is I suffer because of this but it is not for me that I write this. My daughter has been through more than I will probably ever know. I am only the bank roll in which a junky uses to her advantage and my state is perfectly happy enforcing this. No one accounts for the money once they custodial parents have it. More destruction will continue, unless something is done to make it fair. If children are really the main concern, there should be an oversight committee to review practices of the state's child support agency. All funds collected as support should be used ONLY towards the child the order was meant for....and the custodial parent should provide PROOF to the state and to the noncustodial parent via receipts.REPORT COMMENTS

Oklahoma court ordered 970.00 dollars a month to be garnished from my wages.They added my overtime into my gross wages I got overtime because it was the busy time of theyear,however my boss doesnt like overtime unless it s neccessary.So now child support is taking half my wages to pay for a five and a six year old after paying the rent on my room I am left with approximately 250 dollars a month to live on.Like I dont have other bills while the mother is financially irresponsible has used credit cards and not paid them back and has never learned to budget or save.She is blowing my money on whatever she feels even on theother kids she has that arenot mine.Actually I only have one kid with her the other three have three different dads too. She is taking advantage she is evil and this can never benefit the kids.I wont be able to visit cause I cant afford their plane tickets.I have came a long way and tried real hard to stay onthe rightpath but thismight be the straw that broke the camels back.Im really fed up I dont know what to do.Whats worse is that I saved borrowed and paid 1500 to a lawyer and nothing changed.I am broke how can you take money I dont have and give it to my kids mom and let her spend it on dope or whAT EVER SHE FEELS LIKE.I have no problem taking care of my kid but get real whatsit benefit my child if I am going to be without a job and room to rent.REPORT COMMENTS

I reside in Raleigh, NC. My ex was given full custody of my children because "I don't see them enough". The reason that I don't see them as much as I'd like to is that my job (which I must work to pay the $1000 of support that I was ordered to pay) requires me to travel 3-4 weeks out of the month!! If my support was a percentage of my job rather than a predetermined amount I'd be able to simply find another job that allowed me be in town more often to see my job. But "the system" seems to know what's best for my kids...smh Thanks to this corrupt system my children are getting $1000 a month but I'm not present due to the demand to meet the obligation of my child support. Why doesn't the childsupport laws change? Well as we all know it's Not about the children ! This is why I say this I have been paying for almost 2 decades now for 2 boys now men one 20 n the other 18 now. Same welfare recipiant We were married Garnished since day one We seperated April 24 1995 n she moved to Fresno on April 25 1995 my first arrears case started. My first check after IT! Left was garnished. Well obligated at 480$ per month is 5,760 per year and according to the childsupport audit this about 90,000$ since 1995 till dec 2012. Ok. But I was being garnished from 800 to 1,300 per month At 800$ per month till now that's 9,600 a year and in 16 years given to between jobs n what ever the benifit of the doubt. That's 153,600$ at 800$ per month for the ast 16 years n at 1,000$ a month that's 12,000 in 16 years that's 192,000$. I've been garnished since April 1995 till now from 350$ per check biweekly n on a 3 payday month 3 times witch is 1,050$ a month and garnished up to 450$ bi weekly witch comes to 1,350$ per month in a 3 payday month and almost on the norm 450$ always for the past umpteen years for a 480$ obligation. I took all this to court. No luck even with all the check stubs and the childsupport payment history. No luck that's not even all. Not only did they over garnish four seperate years of 5,000$ tax refunds 20,000$ more thousand and a leavy on my 8,500$ bank account. At 800 per month till now with my bank account n tax return that's 182,100$ for a 480$ per month obligation in 16 years when it shows on there audit I should have paid aprox 90,000$ n at 1000 per month till now that's 220,000$ till now. N they say I'm 28,000$ in arrears ???? Took it to court NO LUCK ! It's a money making monster. My kid$ didn't even get close to half this money. Childsupport make my life HELL.REPORT COMMENTS
