I believe in equal support but lets be honest men get the short end of the stick. Perfect example... I have my son everyday im off. Im a firefighter so I work 9-10 days a month. I pay for everything but seeing his mother put him on medicaid the state automatically requires you to go and pay a gross amount. Because he doesnt stay overnight that much the 21 days I have him equals to basically not having him at all. The kicker is you struggle and cant live off whats left from c.s. so you work more to compensate.... and they take from that too.... Thats america...

When my children's dad wasn't paying the child support he was ordered to pay I was no longer able to afford my apt; I had to give up custody due to being homeless bc of it. I was evicted, lost all my furniture, car was repot. It took me 3 months to find a place and I was able to get my kids back and the child support was starting to be enforced, however the employers never paid the full amount he owed (his hold support was ($1000/month for 3 toddlers). He received extra checks that they didn't report and DSS wasn't doing anything about it. I again lost my children due to not being able to afford my $1200 daycare bill and rent; in turn wasn't able to provide for my children they were given to their father who was living with his parents. He got full custody. Now I have to pay child support which is $667/month plus $220/month in health insurance. I only make $12.98/hr. After everything taken I only get to keep around $250 every 2 weeks. Again I lost everything; sold my car for rent and groceries, sold my furniture and had to move out of my house and into a place with a friend. I was able to keep my 3 beautiful children until I filed for modification. Once the kids dad learned I did it he stopped letting me see my children so I wouldn't be able to modify. I was told I need to retain a private attorney after going to every assistance place in my city. Unfortunately I can't afford one and can't even afford the payment plans they want. This should not happen to anyone. The law needs to be changed. I need my kids. I can't live without them.

My exwife is from Mexico, I did not know she was illegal at the time I married her. She is now with another man, she can not work due to her illegal status, but I must pay child support while has to do nothing. It is not fair that they hit me on high wages for child support while she has to nothing. Why must I have to support her. I understand my kids, but not her.

I adopted my ex wifes son to try to do a good thing. She promised me that if anything happened she would not come after me for child support. Two years later here I am paying child support while she is living off the child support and not working. She gets welfare because she has no source if income.I am struggling to make ends meet and she is living easy. The child support laws need to change. She should have to show what she is spending the money in.

In the state of Ohio with parents whom were never married the father has 0 rights when the child is born mother has %100 rights of the child yet they want money from the father..how is that fair? In order for the father to be in the child's life thy have to fight in court, but money wise ...support starts immediately.. Not fair at all this needs to be changed.

Child support needs to take taxes and insurance into account for the non custodial parent, so it should be based on net income not gross and all child support combined should be no more than 50% of net take home no matter how many baby moms you have. so if you take home 1000k/mo and have 4 kids then you pay no more than 500/mo for all four kids. Too many fathers are having parenting time taken away because they need a part time job to survive and therefore are not available enough for the courts. Also no man should have to pay child support if he isnt getting visits with his child.

I pay support for three kids, one whom turned 18 and moved out of his moms, now im paying arrears. Why? She still collects welfare and doesn't work. Went thru crap because I tried to do the kid right and I found out that she is smoking dope with the child. There you go FL. The kid is already in the system for drugs and you put them there. I'll be about 80 when im done with paying arrears to parents that will be in diapers themselves. REALLY. Where is the common sense.

I make $1952 a month, that is my gross. I only bring home $612 a month home after child support and taxes. Now how do I suppose to survive in today's society when $1340 dollars are taken away from me each month. More money is taken from me than I bring home.

The current custody system is unconstitutional and strips the non-custodial parent of their parental rights. These laws are so unbelievable wrong and one-sided that I can't believe they haven't been yet proven to be unconstitutional in a court of law. Ridiculous.

Retired Navy. Unable to work due to injuries. About to be jailed in Florida for back child support. Cannot afford a lawyer but department of Revenue knows I cannot work after 8 months now they state they will not forward my requests for modification to the courts so now I have to resubmit to the courts another 8-12 months for a hearing. I believe this is a huge scam to make interest for the State. It is sickening that Vets or anyone should have to go through this. It is not about the children it is about money only. The mother is getting over 50% of my retirement because I was ordered to pay medical and dental which now costs a lot more than when I was on Active Duty.

This is a perfect example of dealing with the situation of my ex-wife and my now 10 year old daughter going without school clothes because her mother abuses the child support that is "given" to her. That is just one example of how the laws are flawed and favor deadbeat mothers who don't work, make a living off of government assistance yet there is no kind of regulations on people who abuse child support. At least an itemized receipt every month would should validation that money being spent would go directly to the child's needs and not that of a mother or father for that matter. I don't have a problem with paying child support at all but, when it comes to me paying out the rear and then my daughter is crying to me that her mother hasn't bought her any school clothes or supplies. That leaves me to buy all that as well. It's really unfair to my daughter and to me. Feeling very cheated....and angry.

Also the mother can be unfit. She don't have to be a on drugs to be an unfit parent. Some men should have there children not the mother.
